The verse just before this one says…let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us…This passage of scripture that doesn't leave any room for us to question what we are to be doing! As you read this, I pray that you find encouragement in your faith to run with perseverance in the “race” AKA the will of God for your life. Ask the Lord to help you to get rid of anything and everything that is hindering you from keeping all of your focus on Him. Shake off and be free from the matters of this world so that you can remain in Him. Live with all-out, full-out, total obedience to the Lord. It’s worth it! Don’t waste your life on anything less than all-out faith, total obedience to the Lord our God.

ONE LIFE, ONE CHOICE EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

Students were challenged by a message on Friday 10/13 from Michael Lutzenkirchen as he shared his personal story of loss and how this led to the creation of a non-profit organization promoting teen driving awareness.

Go here to find out more about his foundation and the Prepare For Life (PFL) Scholarship that he awards to seniors annually.

Recap of the week:

On Monday, students enjoyed a whole afternoon of activities designed to open their eyes to both the dangers and the habits that they need to become safe when they get into a car.  Click here  to see all the stations we had happening.

Please be sure to check out the main story about our incredible Teen Driving Safely Week

In addition to the activities on Friday and Monday, Student Council members put safe driving messages in our hallways, bathrooms, and on our student vehicles throughout the week. They also had a contest for the class that could come up with the best catch phrase. The winning phrase was… “If tires are rolling, better stop scrolling”. Be sure to view all the Catch Phrases created by the students .

We want to give a shout out to Natalie Bacho with Abby’s Angels Foundation (AAF). Our OLOC event and life changing week could not have happened without her mission and vision. AAF donated so much to us this week, and we are so grateful. Be sure to check out  AAF webpage and learn more about the defensive driving class they have a partnership with. Taking this course is a requirement for any senior wishing to apply for the Abby's Angels Scholarship. TCS has had two former students awarded  with this scholarship in 2016 and 2020.

Challenges from Chapel

We are all called to serve the Lord. What we often miss is the humility that must come with our serving. We are called to serve humbly, being obedient to the clear commands God has given us. Not because we have to, but because we get to through the victory Jesus won for us on the cross. In our actions and in our words, those around us see who we are and who we belong to. We thank Dr. Josh Saefkow, the senior pastor at Flat Creek Baptist Church in Fayetteville, for challenging us with this message from God’s word this past Wednesday. We ask you to join us in praying for the hearts of our students as they respond to what they heard. We have been blessed to hear many stories over the past few weeks from our students, our high school staff, and even some staff outside of our high school family of what they have seen and heard coming from our time together in chapel each Wednesday. Please continue praying that God will work in us so that He can work through us.

Semester II Physical Education - Dress Code

With the revamping of our schedule and in striving to meet/exceed GA standards, the physical education (PE) course is making a comeback to TCS High School. This course is scheduled during Semester II on the other side of Health that is taken in Semester I. This combination of courses allows for the students to receive the GA High School graduation requirements for .5 credit of Health and .5 credit of PE. Effective  January 2024, all students that are enrolled in PE, as well as any athletic performance classes at the high school level will be required to dress out as a part of their performance and participation grade. The implementation of the PE uniform will be beneficial to ensure that students are always in dress code for the class.  Additionally, research shows that there are fewer distractions when students dress in PE uniforms since these uniforms are designed for activity and not for fashion.Students who find themselves without the uniform on or before 1/16/24 will need to purchase the uniform at the school store.

See the link below to find the uniform attire that will be required for these classes for Semester II. Any combination of the tops and bottoms will be approved.

PSAT UPDATE

For the first time, the PSAT was given in a digital format, as this past Monday, TCS junior students took the test using their Chromebook. The process ran smoothly with no setbacks. This experience will help prepare them for the SAT which will also be going digital for its administration beginning in the spring of 2024.

PSAT scores should be released in mid-November and be accessible in the student's College Board account. We will provide information at that time about score interpretation.

Christian College Fair

This past week, 23 students from Trinity attended the South Atlanta Christian College Fair at Eagle’s Landing Christian School. 40 schools from across the U.S. were present to engage our students and answer their questions.

College fairs are a great first step to gather specific information about schools and learn about the programs they offer. We have two local fairs happening this coming week. (See Probe College Fair details below.)

Probe College Fairs

The Georgia Probe College Tour is an annual program of college fairs to provide high school students access to college representatives from in and out of state. Hundreds of colleges and universities nationwide attend Probe events yearly. It is a great opportunity to connect and learn which college may be right for you.

There are two local events occurring in the month of October that we would encourage juniors and seniors to attend. A list of registered colleges for the event can be found at the registration link below.

What College Is a Good Match for Me?

Trying to figure out what college makes sense? Not sure you can go to college at all based on your GPA? If that is the case, check out the brand new program from GAFutures called GEORGIA MATCH.

Georgia Match is a simple way for students to know where they are eligible for admission, based on their recent high school calculated HOPE grade point average (GPA). GAFutures is trying to make it easy for students to see where they could attend college in Georgia based on their current academic record and then to apply to institutions that they are most interested in attending.
