TCS 2020 Campus Safety News

Coweta County Sheriff’s Department Recognizes TCS as One of the Best Secured Campuses

Campus Safety

The Trinity Board and Administrators deem the safety of our nearly 1,250 students and 150 staff members as a very high priority. The Coweta County Sheriff’s Department stated that Trinity is one of the best secured school campuses in the county.

However, we continue to look for opportunities to improve the safety and security of our campus. For example, over the last 8 months, we have added security film to 136 glass doors and windows. This prevents shatter and makes them nearly unbreakable.

We are also presently investigating a new app that holds the potential for us to push one button on a phone and have it simultaneously call 911, lock all exterior doors on campus and make a campus wide pre-recorded announcement through our intercom system.

Traffic Safety

Regarding traffic safety, we need your support. This applies to ALL those who drive on our campus (around 500 vehicles daily): Students, Trinity Staff, Parents, etc. There have been a number of near-accidents this year between vehicles and some involving pedestrians. Our School Resource Officers have mentioned being nearly hit by Trinity drivers while directing traffic at the Hwy 54 intersection.

To prevent someone from getting injured, we are taking the following actions effective when we return from Christmas break. The Coweta County Sheriff’s Officers working on Trinity’s Campus will begin taking action for traffic violations and Trinity’s Security Officers will also document traffic violations. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Speeding (Trinity has numerous speed limit signs of 10 mph posted on campus).

  • Distracted Driving (Using hand-held cell phones, reading, etc.)

  • Reckless Driving

  • Failing to follow traffic directions by Coweta County Sheriff’s Officers or Trinity Security Officers.

Please note that with the new businesses operating in the former Collector’s Corner facility, there is now increased cross traffic at the bottom of the hill at the West Campus exit. The owner allowed us to install a STOP sign at their exit point creating a two-way stop. It is critical that we stop at this intersection also.

There are PreK through High School students walking around campus at multiple times every day. We need everyone’s focus to keep them safe. Please join with us in making the Trinity Campus a safe environment for all.
