Events & Announcements

If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” Christ-dependent, Christ-exalting humility does it best. Living according to His will and His way allows us to live in what is honorable in the sight of all. It rejoices with those who rejoice. It weeps with those who weep. It doesn’t repay evil for evil. It blesses those who persecute. It loves peace. The Bible emphasizes the importance of unity among believers and within the body of Christ, and our obedience to these commands will lead to God-honoring unity. Here are a few verses that highlight the biblical perspective on unity:

Psalm 133:1: "How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!"

1 Corinthians 1:10: "I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought."

Ephesians 4:3: "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."

Colossians 3:14: "And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."

CFA Microgrant Recipient

We have exciting news to share about the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy!  The class has been awarded a $500 Microgrant directly from Chick-fil-A for the 2024 Impact Project! On April 24th, students who are a part of the class will strive to impact the residents and staff at Wesley Woods Senior Living located in Newnan.  Students will be leading an interactive devotional with the residents that focuses on the servant leadership mission this school year. Residents will be served breakfast during a time of fellowship, in addition to playing a variety of different board games. Additionally, there will be time designated for the students and residents to enjoy taking a walk outdoors. The "WOW'' factor for the CFA Leadership class is focused on building relationships with the local community while creating a memorable and enjoyable experience at Wesley Woods.

Challenges from Chapel

This past Wednesday at chapel we were blessed to be joined by Shaun Golden. Shaun is a motivational speaker who focuses on character development and goal setting. He challenged our students to use their God given talents and potential to the fullest, taking advantage of every opportunity to excel for the glory of God. His knack for engagement and motivation made for an enjoyable and impactful experience. Thanks to our worship and tech teams for leading us as well. We look forward to returning to chapel for more of our Black History Month celebration after winter break!

Patriotic Art Contest Entry

The Peachtree City American Legion Post 50 and Peachtree City Running Club join together each year to Celebrate Armed Forces Day and to honor all Veterans past and present.  In addition to this annual event, they conduct a t- shirt design contest for participants to wear at the ALL AMERICAN 5K/10 ROAD RACE . We are excited to share that sophomore students Shiloh Stewart and Emma Kate Yeager worked together and submitted this design for the first round of reviews and the finalists will be announced around the middle of April. We can’t wait to hear the results of the competition.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

February 26th - March 1 - Science and Math 

  • Science classes will be highlighting scientists who have made impactful discoveries and have transformed the medical field, space exploration, etc.

  • Math classes will include highlights of men and women who are standouts in the fields of mathematics, engineering, computer technology and more

  • * Chapel 2/28 -  Students will be hearing a message from Reverend Eric Thomas

March 4th - March 7th - Electives

  • Elective classes will be highlighting individuals who have been foundational, influential and inspirational in the particular field of study.

  • * Chapel 3/6 -  Students will be hearing a message from Valerie Hardmon

Update on additional parking

It is old news that we increased our campus property and desired to increase the parking spaces that are available for our high school students. While we will definitely have increased parking spaces on campus, our current and projected numbers for the rising junior and senior class will take up every single space that we will have to offer in the upcoming school year. This means that driving privileges will remain as only being available to our junior and senior students.

Additionally, only senior students will be able to have open campus privileges. This allows our seniors to further develop some life skills during this final year of high school as they have the privilege to leave campus during lunch, open period(s), and/or for any dual enrollment classes at Point University and other institutions according to the student’s schedule.

NEW SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITy

Jerry Flurry, founder of Clayton Appliances, believed teaching young people how to work with machines would provide a lifetime of opportunities. Mr. Flury’s family continues his passion for helping young men and women attend and succeed at an accredited trade school by providing a $2,500 scholarship to TCS students. The Jerry Flury Memorial Scholarship is open to current seniors who are in good academic standing at TCS, regardless of GPA, who will be attending trade school this fall. 

The deadline for applying for this scholarship is Friday, May 3rd. For more information, click below. 

SPRING PSAT ADMINISTRATION FOR 10TH GRADE

Current 10th grade students will be taking the PSAT Monday, Apr. 22. More details regarding test day administration will be given at a later date. 

This is a required administration and the student’s account will be billed. The cost of the test is $18. 

After testing, students will attend lunch and afternoon classes. It is not a half-day of school. 

COURSE REGISTRATION FOR 2024-25 CLASSES

Course registration for the 2024-25 school year will begin the week of March 18th. Students will be given a registration form through their Bible class and a chance to connect with each teacher that week to get a recommendation on their fall coursework. Forms will be due to the Bible teachers by Wednesday, March 27.

FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AIDE (FAFSA)

The Free Application for Federal Student Aide (FAFSA) is the main application used to apply for federal or state-supported financial aid to pay for a college education. It is free to complete and submit. The application has undergone revision from previous years and is now available online at the Federal Student Aid website. Additional information about the FAFSA and what you will need to complete it can be found at the Georgia Student Finance Commission website.

SAT PRACTICE TESTS FROM COLLEGE BOARD

Digital SAT practice is free and available to all students through the Bluebook™ testing app. 11th grade students who took the PSAT at TCS in the fall should have the Bluebook app already installed on their Chromebook. College Board allows students to take a full-length digital practice test, view their results, and get linked to additional instructional materials, resources, and lessons on Official Digital SAT Prep on Khan Academy®.

SAT Spring Test Dates

Registration is now open for the March, May, and June test dates for the digital SAT. Most colleges, including those that are test optional, consider SAT scores when making admission and placement decisions, and for certain scholarships. Your SAT score is a proven way to show what you’ve learned and stand out on applications.

Below are the upcoming test dates and registration deadlines for the spring administration of the SAT. You can find a test center near youto register. These seats will fill up, so don’t delay in registering in order to get the date that you would like. This mostly applies to juniors in preparation for the college admissions season in the fall.

Science Shows How Piano Players' Brains Are Actually Different From Everybody Else’s

“Piano is the ultimate instrument in terms of skill and demand: Two hands have to play together simultaneously while navigating 88 keys. They can play up to 10 notes at a time. To manage all those options, pianists have to develop a totally unique brain capacity — one that has been revealed by science.

Because both hands are required to be equally active for pianists to master their instrument, they have to overcome something innate to almost every person: right or left-handedness.

In most people, the depth of the brain's central sulcus is either deeper on the right or on the left side, which then determines which hand is dominant. But when scientists scanned the brains of pianists, they found something different: Pianists had a demonstrably more symmetrical central sulcus than everyone else — though they were born right or left-handed, their brains barely registered it. Because the pianists still had a dominant hand, researchers speculated that their equal depth was not natural, but resulted because pianists are able to strengthen their weaker side to more closely match their dominant side. 

So pianists’ brains actually are different. They are masters of creative, purposeful and efficient communication because of the very instrument that they play. They are the naturally efficient multi-taskers of the musical world.”
