Events & Announcements

The Lord is always faithful to His promises. We can be certain of this because He made them on the basis of His truthful, unchanging character and the perpetual truth of His word. When we dwell on God’s faithfulness and let it nourish our hearts, our faith and trust in Him grows. Let us find ourselves delighting in God and allow our hearts to find peace and fulfillment in Him!

CHALLENGES FROM Chapel

This past Wednesday at chapel we had a powerful time of worship with our high school worship team. Their mission is to create an environment where people can encounter God, and we’re so grateful for their leadership. We were blessed to have JC Worley, Lead Pastor at GO Church in Sharpsburg, with us to share a challenging message from God’s word. JC really challenged our students with a message about fighting sin and overcoming the appetites of our flesh. Teaching from Romans 7, JC reminded us that it is only through Jesus that we can overcome the power of sin in our lives. We unpacked the cycle of sin to see how sin first forms as a thought, which then sparks our imagination, which leads us to justification, which leads to a sinful choice being made. The counter to our sin nature is to feed our appetite for the things of God. What we feed grows and what we starve dies, so we must feed our lives with prayer, God’s word, and Godly relationships that help us be with the right people in the right places doing the right things. Many thanks to JC for sharing these powerful truths with us. Please join us in praying that God will give our students a strong desire to starve out sin and feed Godly habits that lead to obedience in our lives!

Standardized Bible Assessment

Our HS student body will engage in a school-wide standardized Bible assessment this Monday, April 15th.  The assessment will assist in gaining data that will help us to improve upon our Bible course curriculum by demonstrating our student's Biblical literacy, theological awareness and aptitude to connect their faith to real-life situations.  While this test does not have a direct impact on the student's current course grade, we do desire for each student to take the test seriously and to put forth their best efforts!

MicroMarket

We are excited to announce adding a small-scale convenience store in the High School Multi-Purpose room, giving students and faculty choices during transition times and any times that the students are not in a scheduled class before or after school. The micro-market is a cashless checkout system that will accept multiple payment options. The micro market features a self-checkout kiosk, cold drinks, and individually packaged snacks. Additionally, adding the micro market will eliminate the need for students to walk down to the local convenience which is a less than desirable environment for our students.

Tshirt Design Update

FINALIST ANNOUNCEMENT - The Tshirt design submitted by Shiloh Stewart and Emma Kate Yeager has moved on to the finalist category in the American Legion competition.  We will find out next month if their design was selected as the winner! Stay tuned for more news as it comes our way.

Club Spotlight

The TCS High School Art Department would like to recognize a new club that meets on select Monday afternoons: "Abstract Visionaries".  It is an art club focused on creating pieces as a group that will be donated for the benefit of a local organization in the community.  Their first piece will be completed within the week and given to Newnan Piedmont Hospital to inspire hope and provide encouragement.  Contact Junior Bryson Jones for more information if you would like to join this creative group!

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS STILL AVAILABLE

If  you are planning on attending college this fall, it is not too late to apply for scholarships. Many scholarships have their deadlines in the spring and summer months. For example, check out THIS LIST of scholarships and their application deadlines at StudentScholarships.com.

This is just one of many online database platforms that you can search to find money for college. We’ve compiled a list of other searchable databases where you can find money for college. You can find that information on the following document: Paying for College - Scholarship Information

JERRY FLURY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

FOR TRADE SCHOOL CAREERS

Jerry Flurry, founder of Clayton Appliances, believed teaching young people how to work with machines would provide a lifetime of opportunities. Mr. Flury’s family continues his passion for helping young men and women attend and succeed at an accredited trade school by providing a $2,500 scholarship to TCS students. The Jerry Flury Memorial Scholarship is open to current seniors who are in good academic standing at TCS, regardless of GPA, who will be attending trade school this fall.

The deadline for applying for this scholarship is Friday, May 3rd. For more information, click HERE.

SAT Spring Test Dates

Registration is now open for the March, May, and June test dates for the digital SAT. Most colleges, including those that are test optional, consider SAT scores when making admission and placement decisions, and for certain scholarships. Your SAT score is a proven way to show what you’ve learned and stand out on applications.

Below are the upcoming test dates and registration deadlines for the spring administration of the SAT. You can find a test center near youto register. These seats will fill up, so don’t delay in registering in order to get the date that you would like. This mostly applies to juniors in preparation for the college admissions season in the fall.
