the power of prayer!
Please join us in praying for our team of teachers this week as they step back into their classrooms and work to solidify the plans for the new school year. Things may look a little different in the set up of the lesson plans for this school year as a result of new guidelines, protocols, and safety measures that need to be implemented due to COVID-19. However, what you can continue to expect is that our teachers will be prayed up, ready to tailor to meet the needs of our students, and prepared to implement instructional strategies to educate, equip, and empower each student that has been entrusted to them.
HIGH SCHOOL ORIENTATION
Want to walk your schedule? Meet your teachers? Things are so different these days so we have a new look for Orientation. This is an optional opportunity to meet your teachers, other high school staff, and walk through your schedule. Join us at the specified times listed below based on your last name on Monday, August 10th. Students will need to be in regular dress code attire or may follow the dress code for Friday Spirit Days for Orientation (guidelines are listed below).
8:00 am - 10:00 am - Last Names A - C
10:00 am - 12:00 pm - Last Names D - J
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm - Last Names K- P
3:00 pm - 5:00 pm - Last Names Q - Z
Can’t make it on Monday, August 10th? We encourage the students to come early to walk their schedules on the first official day of school, Tuesday 8/11/20, we will be open at 7:30 am. Teachers are not available to meet on this date as they will be preparing to begin their classes.
Chromebooks
Apparently, the toilet paper supply isn’t the only thing affected by this pandemic. There is a Chromebook shortage regardless of the manufacturer with Lenovo, Dell, and HP being the most scarce. OH MY!
The good news is that the majority of the high school population has the chromebooks that were previously issued to them.
The downside is that we need a temporary solution to this issue for all 9th grade and new students. If you have a 9th grader or are new this year, please be on the lookout for an email from Mr. Whittle with a link to a form for you to complete to help us with a way of temporarily resolving this issue.
FORMS
Forms can be submitted at Orientation or during the first week of school to the front office by Friday, 8/14/20:

Enhanced Grading Scale
We are committed to student success! Our Student Development Team, Teachers, and Administration will continue to work in partnership with students to help facilitate academic growth and achievement. In compliance with GHSA by-laws, Trinity Christian High School will implement a new grading scale effective this school year: 2020-2021. Here are the key highlights of the new guideline.
Grading Scale:
90-100 = 4.0 / A
80-89 = 3.0/ B
71-79 = 2.0/ C
70 = 1.0/ D
69 and below = 0 credit/ F
Students must maintain a 70% or higher in each class in order to be eligible for athletics/extracurricular activities. Adjustments are being made to the Academic Probation Policy. The Student Development Team will be available during Orientation to answer any questions that you may have and a copy of this policy will be sent to students/families.
What about Chapel?
In order to comply with large group/social distancing guidelines, Chapel will not be held in the traditional manner during the first few weeks of school. Students will be assigned to a small group that will be held in a classroom during the scheduled chapel time.
The current plan is to have a rotation so that some of the population will go to chapel live and others will experience chapel as a live stream in the classroom with their small group. This will keep some consistency by allowing everyone to hear the same message but will also offer some time for discussion. Chapel is an integral part of who we are at Trinity, so it is not an optional activity. All students are expected to attend regardless of their schedule. Although things will be slightly different, the same rules apply for attendance. This small group concept is anticipated to only be in place for a short period of time and does not take the place of our Discipleship Groups. Stay tuned for a new set up to bring even more opportunity for growing deeper!
Discipleship Groups will be launched after Labor Day.
Dress Code Reminders and Updates
Masks should be any solid color, and free of markings, insignias, and designs unless it is a mask with the Trinity logo. Final authority on the appropriateness of all face coverings resides with the administration.

They must be tailored (not too large or too small) with proper hem. No sagging pants (a belt should be used to prevent sagging). No fraying or torn look; no carpenters, cargos, rivets, joggers or ankle bunching. Shorts must have an inseam of 4 or more inches and be modest looking. No swim style shorts or athletic shorts are allowed.
Khaki, black, gray, purple plaid or navy blue pleated, straight, or A-line skirts – non-stretch cotton or cotton-twill only. Skirts may be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee.

Long-sleeved TCS t-shirts are not allowed as outerwear.
Collared shirts should be worn under all outerwear to ensure a student remains in dress code if the outerwear is removed during the day.
Outerwear not approved may be confiscated and returned at the end of the school day.
Footwear
Shoes must be closed toe and closed back. No flip-flops or Crocs.
Socks should be a neutral solid color that coordinates with the outfit. NO knee high socks for boys wearing shorts.
Boys cannot wear boots with shorts, and pants cannot be tucked into the boot.

Friday Spirit Days
Each Friday, students are permitted to wear blue jeans or usual dress code pants/shorts/skirts with TCS spirit wear purchased from the school store. Blue jeans must be blue and free from rips, holes, tears, etc.
Back by popular demand!
Students may wear a polo/collared shirt with the TCS logo on it (purchased from the school store) every day of the week with dress code approved blue jeans (no rips, tears, holes, etc). The school store sells regular cotton polos for $20 and the dri-fit Under Armour type for $30. Jeans may only be worn with a TCS logo polo M-TH. Otherwise, the regular dress code applies and Friday will remain as spirit day with TCS spirit wear and bluejeans.
Supply list
Just the basic supplies will do to get started (i.e. pens, paper, pencils). Students will receive a syllabus in each class which will list the supplies for the class. Be sure to check out the syllabus for any course specific needs.
Safety Precautions
Please be sure to review the reopening plan and full scope of details in the Return to School Plan.
Just as a reminder - Masks are encouraged, but not required at all times. Students and staff will be required to wear masks when entering the building for temperature checks, lunch lines, and during all class transitions.
Masks should be any solid color, and free of markings, insignias, and designs unless it is a mask with the Trinity logo. Final authority on the appropriateness of all face coverings resides with the administration.
Students will be encouraged to use the outdoor as well as the indoor areas to spread out and keep group numbers low during the lunch period.
