HOMECOMING!!!!

Boys, start preparing your HOCO proposals and girls start shopping for a semi-formal dress because we are having a Homecoming Dance. Since we are living in Covid-19 season, we are calling it a Mask-erade because we will need to put safety first and wear our masks when indoors. So, let’s get creative and match our mask with our fancy attire. The dance is scheduled for Saturday, November 7th here at the Gathering Place. Be on the lookout for an email about the dress code guidelines and more details about this exciting event.

discipleship-groups.png

Every Lion needs a pride, and TCS students are no different. We believe that as part of our mission to “shape today’s student for tomorrow’s world” it is important to offer discipleship in a smaller setting. Obviously discipleship happens throughout the week in the classroom, on the sports’ fields, and in chapel. However, each year after Labor Day the HS launches a D-Group effort that is 100% volunteer for both student and teacher. This year we have 15 teachers (see below) ready to invest in the lives of our TCS community. A variety of D-Groups are offered for all HS ages and interests. Typically, they are offered in the morning before school or during lunch. Frequency also varies from weekly to monthly. Our goal is not only to meet in smaller groups face-to-face but to grow heart-to-heart...the same way Jesus did it with His 12...who subsequently changed the world!

Series: IDENTITY

down-fingerprint-png-10212.png

“Who am I”, in terms of life’s purpose and meaning, is only second to the identity of God Himself. High School chapel has pursued this rich question throughout September. In our series called IDENTITY we began with the core creation passage in Gen.1:26 and affirmed that our identity is determined and authenticated by God. In this message, Ron Edwards focused on the staggering privilege to be created in the image of God and stressed when we downgrade God as Image Maker we will inevitably degrade men as image bearers. Next, Chad Whittle did a brilliant job identifying our tendency to project and justify our fake ID’s. God cannot bless who we pretend to be. He once even pretended to be a Ninja Turtle...in his 20’s. Ask him about it! Chris Paschall challenged us to be like Matthew the tax collector, who ripped up his Roman/earthly credentials, and took up his cross and followed Jesus. He stressed that Matthew’s gospel has now outlived the Roman Empire by 1500 years and his former Caesar is dust while his King Jesus rose from the dust and reigns forever. I would say Matthew made a very good identity exchange!

This past week, Brain Fourman faithfully anchored our series and brought it to a dynamic climax. He offered some concrete ways that we can protect our heavenly ID. Thankfully, God has given us a secure story and calls us to live in light of that security

What a great series!!! Thanks to all of our skilled speakers.

Begin praying for our next series:
