Do you ever find yourself full of worry and doubt? So often we see, hear, and read the “do not be anxious” part of Philippians 4:6 independently from the context of the passage. With just those words, it feels impossible. We wonder how do we just stop being anxious when it feels out of our control? But thankfully, God gives us clear direction in how to do this through the Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:4-9. The truth of His word serves as the reminder of an important step in letting go of anxious, worrisome, fearful, and even sinful thoughts: fill your mind with all things that are praiseworthy.

Current 9th-11th Grade Students

It's that time of year again! Let’s start planning courses for next year!

Students, as of Monday morning, teacher recommendations are listed in Blackbaud and it is now easier than ever to get your schedule for the upcoming year! The process is super simple and only requires a couple of steps for you. Please follow the directions on the handout LINKED HERE. If you accept all of the recommended classes by following the steps outlined in the document, then that’s all you need to do!

If you would like to take something other than a course you were recommended for, then follow this process:

  1. Do no add (accept) that course,

  2. Complete the following Google form to start the appeal process: https://forms.gle/J55N1f8dXo5msvGr8

  3. Wait for an academic counselor to reach out to you with your next steps.

Please be aware that students will be given course request/approval forms (hard copy) in their Bible classes on Monday, March 7th. This form needs to be completed and submitted back to the Bible teacher by Monday, March 14th.*

*Returning the signed form is a course requirement and failure to complete could result in a “zero” on a graded assignment in Bible. This is important as we want to ensure that your family has seen and approved the courses in Blackbaud for next school year.

IMPORTANT: Students tcslions accounts must be used for this Google change form.  Streamlining the form through the student account is the best practice to avoid confusion and to encourage self-advocacy and independence. It is also important, so that duplicate requests aren’t submitted from both the parent and the student. Parents may look at the requests in their account, but they will not be able to request the change.

Remember: “Parents view it, students do it!”

Attendance

Need to get the attendance updated? Need to submit a pre-absence form? Need to communicate with a staff person at the front desk? Morgin Ross and Olivia Weaver are ready to assist. The best way to reach them is via email hsattendance@tcslions.org

Official Notes in Blackbaud

Are you receiving the Official Notes in Blackbaud (BB) for your student? If not, they may be in your spam folder if you haven't seen it. Or, we don't have a correct email address on file for you. So please make sure to put tcslions@myschoolapp.com and tcslions@myschoolemails.com in your contacts so those don't end up in spam.  Here are some user-friendly steps to set up your BB account so you don’t miss out on any news, grades, attendance, conduct, etc - all of these can be found at your fingertips in BB!

Special Assembly - March 14, 2022

We will be welcoming [RAM:CORPS] to TCS.  [RAM:CORPS] is a Christ-centered high impact visual brass and percussion troupe from the University of Mobile. They present over 100 concerts and ministry events a year both locally and internationally to elevate the university, encourage believers, evangelize the lost and edify the body of Christ. [RAM:CORPS] offers a dynamic and joyous sonic celebration. Musically energetic and visually passionate programs combine for an explosive praise event.

The high school schedule for that day will be as follows:

half day on 4/1

Making Plans for Spring Break? Maybe you have already reviewed the schoolwide schedule and noticed that we have a half day on 4/1 across the campus. It is important to note that start and end times for each period may vary from the normal schedule due to following the half day schedule. Be sure to review this schedule closely to avoid being tardy to your class.

CEREAL DRIVE

We have the incredible opportunity to help out a local organization, Backpack Buddies. We have a lofty goal ahead of us of 650 boxes. High School students will drop their cereal boxes off in the front lobby when they arrive for school.

Let’s make a big push to bless Backpack Buddies. Our goal is to have all boxes in by Wednesday, March 16th. This will help them with their support of students over Spring Break. Let’s come alongside the students that Backpack Buddies supports.

HS Chapel

The ever affable and infectiously joyous Tony Geasley brought a powerful message and reminder to our very blessed HS community. “Not everyone has fairytale lives”, Tony reminded all of us, as he shared his summer ministry with abused children in The Royal Family Kids Camp. He choked up as he shared stories of unconscionable cruelty to our most unprotected - our children. However, he quickly celebrated with as much emotion the heroes in these marginalized children's lives - the adoptive parents and foster parents. Imagine, if instead of being abused, a kid could have a birthday party, a 4th of July celebration, a christmas moment, and an easter egg hunt all in the same week. In steps The Royal Family Kids Camp. The kids get that kind of week with Tony and the rest of the counselors. Thanks, Tony, for your love for Lion Nation, for your excellence in the classroom, and your passion for God’s children. Let’s all be in prayer for Tony, his ministry, and the oppressed children.
Next week (3/10) will be a remote learning day so there will be no chapel. However, you can be in prayer for 3/17 and 3/24 as two of our faithful women (Kayla Whittle & Val Adams) take the stage to bring God’s word to our student body.

50 days left of School Celebration

Wednesday, March 9th will mark our 5O days left of school; therefore, we will celebrate with a 50’s theme day where students can dress up and we will decorate the building to look like a diner. To make it a fun day, we will play music from the 50’s throughout the school day and play games that relate to the 50’s theme during lunch. Students are encouraged to wear attire such as leather jackets, slick back hair, poodle skirts, flared dresses and any other trends from that decade.

*Please follow the standard dress down day procedures and if you choose to not participate, you must be in regular dress code
