College Board Recognition

Addison Bell, Senior, has been named as a recipient of the National African American Recognition Program award which is one of four National awards given by College Board. The College Board’s National Recognition Program is an academic honor for academically exceptional underrepresented students (African American/Black, Hispanic/Latinx, Indigenous, or attend high school in a rural area or small town) who have scored in the top 10 percent of the state on the PSAT or earned a score of 3 or higher on two or more AP exams by their junior year. To qualify, students must also have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

As a result of the award, the University of Alabama has awarded Addison their National Recognition Scholarship Package. UA's National Recognition Scholarship Package covers tuition for four years, first year on campus housing, and provides a $1000 per year stipend for four years.

National Merit Scholarship Program

The following seniors have been named as a Commended Student in the 2023

National Merit Scholarship Program. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. We are so extremely proud of these 3 individuals that are the recipients of this top honor.

“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success.  These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.

We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.” ~NMSP spokesperson.
