Events & Announcements

All of us need encouragement at some time in our life.  Some of us need encouragement more than others and some are filled in smaller doses. God gave us the ability to encourage others with words; words that are life giving. Scripture calls us to encourage one another and build each other up, and it also tells us that our words have the power to build people up and give them life or tear people down and bring them death. We are the ones that have the choice to make in how we select our words and in the tone and manner in which we speak them. Let us be challenged to make and take opportunities to speak words of encouragement and build others up with our words

Superbowl Dress Down

On Friday 2/9 Students may wear their favorite team jersey or shirt with dress code approved bottoms.

Selling Carnations

Starting Thursday, February 8th, Student Council will begin selling carnations for $1.00 and chocolate bars for $2.00 so students can make another person's day by surprising them with a flower and/or chocolate along with a handwritten note. Students can deliver the gifts themselves or they can choose to have them delivered in Bible class. Sales will happen in the mornings of both buildings and during lunch Feb 8th - 14th.

Dress Code Clarity

The High School Leadership Team partnered with randomly selected students for review of the dress code guidelines. The importance of this review was to hear from some students that were dressed in such a wide range of attire. We have noticed that there is some confusion amongst our team of staff as well as the students. We are striving to provide a clarification in a few areas:

  • Mid-drifts should never be exposed at any time (when hands are raised should still have coverage)

  • Hoodies of any kind should ONLY be Trinity branded

  • Tops should all be collared shirts with exception to Trinity branded T Shirts ONLY

  • Shoes should be closed toe and closed back

  • Sweatpants, pajama pants, and leggings are not approved

  • Students should follow the dress code guidelines for the PE uniform (pajama pants and leggings are not approved even if Trinity branded) and that is only to be worn for that class not for the remainder of the day

  • BOYS – no piercings are allowed on campus or at school-related functions.

  • GIRLS – pierced jewelry is limited to earrings (no facial piercings).

We are committed to continuous improvement in this area.

Challenges from Chapel

This past week at chapel was such a blessing in three ways. First, our worship team did an amazing job leading us in an upbeat worship song that centered our hearts on the finished work of Jesus. Second, we were blessed to have guests from our Trinity family and community present to help us dedicate our new flight simulator and aviation courses to the Lord. Thank you to our principal Kimmy Jones for leading us in a prayer of dedication. Third, we were blessed to hear a challenging message from God’s word from TCS head football coach Kenny Dallas. Coach Dallas shared the challenge of allowing God to write our stories, and how our hardest days and biggest mistakes do not have to define us. Please pray with us that our students will take this challenge seriously and allow God to pick them back whenever they’re down so they can be changed and used for His glory. We are very excited to begin our Black History Month celebration in chapel next week!

BLACK HISTORY MONTH AND G.R.A.C.E. WEEK

During the month of February, we are excited to celebrate our diversity with a special focus on Black History. Diversity is woven into the fabric of who we are at TCS and this month provides us an opportunity to more intentionally study Black individuals that have been foundational, innovative, and transformational throughout history.

We begin this special month with G.R.A.C.E. Week which gives us an opportunity to focus on understanding how each of us is made in the image of God and how we should treat each other in light of that truth. Ultimately, it is in our differences that we are able to bring God great glory and celebrate His workmanship!

What does G.R.A.C.E. mean?

G.R.A.C.E. is about better understanding how each of us is made in the image of God and how we should treat each other in light of that truth. While we are different in our G-ender, in our R-ace, in our A-bility/Disability, in our Culture, and in Economics,

February 5th - 9th is G.R.A.C.E. Week

  • Bible classes will highlight Gender, Race, Abilities/Disabilities, Culture and Economics (GRACE)

  • Chapel 2/7 - Kick Off Message

February 12th - 16th - History and Literature classes

  • History will highlight specific world changers that have accomplished historic feats or paved the way for others to do so

  • English classes will be intertwining reading of short stories or selections that highlight and appreciate diversity.

  • Chapel 2/14 - Students will be hearing a message from Shaun Golden “Golden Opportunity”

February 26th - March 1 - Science and Math

  • Science classes will be highlighting scientists who have made impactful discoveries and have transformed the medical field, space exploration, etc.

  • Math classes will include highlights of men and women who are standouts in the fields of mathematics, engineering, computer technology and more

  • Chapel 2/28 - Students will be hearing a message from Reverend Eric Thomas

March 4th - March 7th - Electives

  • Elective classes will be highlighting individuals who have been foundational, influential and inspirational in the particular field of study.

  • Chapel 3/6 - Students will be hearing a message from Valerie Hardmon

NEW SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITy

Abby’s Angels Foundation

Abby’s Angels Foundation was created in August 2013 to forever honor Abby Bacho. Abby gave the gift of life through organ donation at the age of 9 on Christmas Day 2012 after succumbing from injuries sustained in a car wreck caused by a distracted teen driver. Abby’s Angels Foundation’s mission encompasses her legacy of love and giving.

Abby’s Angels Foundation is seeking high school seniors who have been accepted to a 4-year college or university and/or a trade school. The foundation will award $1500 to one senior from East Coweta High School, Newnan High School, Northgate High School, a private/ parochial high school, and a graduating senior from a high school outside of Coweta County. The award is based on criteria that extend beyond academics and extracurricular activities.  The foundation is seeking students that are actively making a positive impact on the lives of others.

THE MAGIC OF MARY POPPINS

MARCHING LIONS - EXCITING NEWS

Introducing…Katie Palmer, our new Director of the Marching Lions.  This program has grown over the last five years, from not having any music in the stands on Friday nights in the Fall to having a full marching band exciting the crowd and cheering our team on to victory!  We started with just a Drum Corps, then grew to add Winds and Color Guard, and two years ago began marching field formations for the first time.  We have enjoyed halftime shows, pep rallies, local festivals with other schools, parades and more.

Last season we brought on Katie as an assistant to lead our winds, instruct our new drum major, and help teach drill.  She stepped up to the plate, and her expertise was invaluable toward our end result of a successful Back to the Future show, and growth in this group as a whole.  Next season she will be taking on more, and using her experience and expertise to take us to even higher levels.  Here are a few sentiments from Katie, please welcome her as our new Marching Lions Director!!

"Outside of being a mom to 5 children and wife to my husband Patrick, my greatest passion is teaching, training, and equipping people and students to use their gifts to honor the Lord. I am humbled and excited to come alongside and lead the Marching Lions!"

"I’ve been given the chance to do some of the things that I love; music and speaking into the lives of students!  We will encourage them, disciple them, and develop them to lead others as well. Hard work, dedication, discipline, and skill goes into developing a “Band of Excellence” but we’ll have lots of fun working together and make life-long friends along the way. Ultimately our GREATEST PURPOSE is for Jesus to be at the center of it all! I can’t wait for what the new season holds for us!" Colossians 3:23-24
