“Commit” is a word that in Hebrew literally means “to roll”.  Proverbs 12:3 says to “commit,” “to roll away,” “to let go” of all we think we must carry and do. To go a bit further, the scripture is saying that we should  “roll” all of our heart’s desires over to the Lord, leaving them at the feet of Jesus. What an amazing positioning of full surrender to the Lord, when we open our hearts, minds, and hands, releasing the grip on the things that we have held so tightly to, things that we long for and maybe even idolize. The Lord’s desire for us is to roll toward Him, to commit our life and plans to Him while trusting His leading and guidance. Let go and let God!

God has better things ahead for us all, today and in the days ahead. God's will for our lives will always be best — taking what’s in our hearts and conforming it to His.

Dress Code Clarity

The High School Leadership Team partnered with randomly selected students for review of the dress code guidelines. The importance of this review was to hear from some students that were dressed in such a wide range of attire. We have noticed that there is some confusion amongst our team of staff as well as the students. We are striving to provide a clarification in a few areas:

  • Mid-drifts should never be exposed at any time (when hands are raised should still have coverage)

  • Hoodies of any kind should ONLY be Trinity branded

  • Tops should all be collared shirts with exception to Trinity branded T Shirts ONLY

  • Shoes should be closed toe and closed back

  • Sweatpants, pajama pants, and leggings are not approved

  • Students should follow the dress code guidelines for the PE uniform (pajama pants and leggings are not approved even if Trinity branded) and that is only to be worn for that class not for the remainder of the day

  • BOYS – no piercings are allowed on campus or at school-related functions.

  • GIRLS – pierced jewelry is limited to earrings (no facial piercings).

We are committed to continuous improvement in this area.

STAR STUDENT

TCS is pleased to announce that this year’s STAR Student award goes to Austin Cannon. The PAGE STAR program honors Georgia’s highest achieving high school seniors and the teachers who have been instrumental in their academic development. You can read more about the PAGE STAR program HERE

To obtain the STAR nomination, high school students must have the highest score on any single SAT test date taken through November of their senior year and be in the top 10% of their class based on their grade point average.

STAR students are asked to nominate their STAR teacher. This year, Austin chose Quinesetta (Forde) Cressey for his honor. Both, along with TCS administration, will attend a luncheon on Friday, Feb. 16th at the Newnan Country Club.

Congratulations Austin on this honor!

Challenges from Chapel

We were blessed this past Wednesday to be led in worship by our talented team of student musicians in an acoustic worship set, and we’re so grateful for their commitment, preparation, and leadership every week. It was so good to hear the wisdom that was shared by our Bible teachers as we had a Bible team panel discussion. The focus of the conversation was highlighting the importance of remaining committed to and focused on God’s word in this new year. Many thanks to Sam Howard, Chris Paschal, and Ryan Tipton for sharing with us how the Bible has been faithful to guide and lead their lives through challenging seasons, how they personally study and connect with God through His word, and how important it is that we continue to regard the Bible as the singular source of truth we have. In a pluralistic society where anything and everything goes, may we be committed to knowing Christ and allowing His word to be the lamp unto our feet and the light unto our path. Please join us in praying that Bible will be more than just a class, that it will be a space where we go to connect with God and be used for His glory!

NEW SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITy

Abby’s Angels Foundation

Abby’s Angels Foundation was created in August 2013 to forever honor Abby Bacho. Abby gave the gift of life through organ donation at the age of 9 on Christmas Day 2012 after succumbing from injuries sustained in a car wreck caused by a distracted teen driver. Abby’s Angels Foundation’s mission encompasses her legacy of love and giving.

Abby’s Angels Foundation is seeking high school seniors who have been accepted to a 4-year college or university and/or a trade school. The foundation will award $1500 to one senior from East Coweta High School, Newnan High School, Northgate High School, a private/ parochial high school, and a graduating senior from a high school outside of Coweta County. The award is based on criteria that extend beyond academics and extracurricular activities.  The foundation is seeking students that are actively making a positive impact on the lives of others.

SAT Spring Test Dates Released

Starting in 2024, the SAT will be a digital administration. Registration is now open for the March, May, and June test dates. Most colleges, including those that are test optional, consider SAT scores when making admission and placement decisions, and for certain scholarships. Your SAT score is a proven way to show what you’ve learned and stand out on applications.

Below are the upcoming test dates and registration deadlines for the spring administration of the SAT. You can find a test center near you to register. These seats will fill up, so don’t delay in registering in order to get the date that you would like. This mostly applies to juniors and seniors in preparation for college admissions.

THE MAGIC OF MARY POPPINS

The Roaring Dramatics and its 75 student filled cast and crew shared this incredible show with our community this past weekend, and to say it was a hit is an understatement. The magic of this show extends beyond the love of a "practically perfect" nanny and the games she takes the Banks children on, and through the joy from each student on and off stage as they share their God given gifts! After six packed out performances, this show has left an impact on us all, as we consider what it would look like to step back and look at our problems from a different perspective.

Like many of the characters in this show, we tend to see the problems of life right in front of us and it totally fogs up the true perspective of our lives, that we were created, made in the image of God, to have relationship with Him, and only because of our own sin we are separated. The higher view is this: that God being so good and so loving sent His Son for us to live a PERFECT life, die, and rise again, forever conquering sin and death and bringing us into relationship with the Father.

Wherever you are with the Lord right now, this show offers a unique perspective on the goodness of God, that even when life is upside down, there is a God who loves us and is calling us to Him. Only then, “when we learn to look past what we see,” are we able to feed the birds and help those around us. That’s when we see the ways the Lord has put people into our life to step in, right on time. Only then can we truly believe that anything can happen.

Congrats on an incredible run to our Theatre Department and the Roaring Dramatics!

MARCHING LIONS - EXCITING NEWS

Introducing…Katie Palmer, our new Director of the Marching Lions.  This program has grown over the last five years, from not having any music in the stands on Friday nights in the Fall to having a full marching band exciting the crowd and cheering our team on to victory!  We started with just a Drum Corps, then grew to add Winds and Color Guard, and two years ago began marching field formations for the first time.  We have enjoyed halftime shows, pep rallies, local festivals with other schools, parades and more.

Last season we brought on Katie as an assistant to lead our winds, instruct our new drum major, and help teach drill.  She stepped up to the plate, and her expertise was invaluable toward our end result of a successful Back to the Future show, and growth in this group as a whole.  Next season she will be taking on more, and using her experience and expertise to take us to even higher levels.  Here are a few sentiments from Katie, please welcome her as our new Marching Lions Director!!

"Outside of being a mom to 5 children and wife to my husband Patrick, my greatest passion is teaching, training, and equipping people and students to use their gifts to honor the Lord. I am humbled and excited to come alongside and lead the Marching Lions!"

"I’ve been given the chance to do some of the things that I love; music and speaking into the lives of students!  We will encourage them, disciple them, and develop them to lead others as well. Hard work, dedication, discipline, and skill goes into developing a “Band of Excellence” but we’ll have lots of fun working together and make life-long friends along the way. Ultimately our GREATEST PURPOSE is for Jesus to be at the center of it all! I can’t wait for what the new season holds for us!" Colossians 3:23-24
