Events & Announcements
This is the time of year that we are working to finish things while also planning and preparing for all things new that lie ahead. Even though we may be facing uncharted territory, He is ahead of us and knows all about it. Unknown to us are the results, ramifications, and potential rewards of obediently following Him. Still, there might be instances when we do not feel the Lord’s presence. That is when we need to get back to trusting our knowledge instead of our emotions. We can do that through prayer, reminding ourselves of His past faithfulness, and diving into His Word, which contains countless assurances of His presence. Let us plan to continue to picture Him in front us as well. He is encouraging and emboldening us to follow the road that He has already prepared and paved. May we courageously step into the unknown.
MONDAY, MARCH 11 - BLOCK SCHEDULE DAY
The week of March 11 is a four-day week due to Friday (3/15) being a remote learning day. On Monday, March 11, students will follow a block schedule. High school students will follow their typical Wednesday schedule on Monday and have periods 2, 4 and 6, plus an assembly and advisement time. Students should report to their 2nd period class on Monday at 8:15 am.
CHALLENGES FROM Chapel
This past Wednesday was the conclusion of our Black History Month celebration in chapel. Congratulations and thanks to Jadyn Hill and the members of Integration Nation for their planning and leadership over the past four weeks. We were blessed to have Valerie Hardmon, the mother of Coach Lady Grooms, share with us about the history of gospel music and its impact on the African American church and faith development. She shared samples of several songs that were instrumental in gospel music’s growth. We then had the privilege of hearing from Shawn Coleman, our guest soloist. Before she sang, she challenged our students with a powerful message about their identities in Christ. As she shared, “You aren’t cheap. You were expensive. Your sins cost Jesus his life on the cross.” She went on to share about how gospel music is an expression of the gospel message of Jesus Christ and how we must listen to what God has said about us. We are expensive and rare, we have God given purpose, and our identities are determined by Him. We were so blessed to then join her in singing the familiar worship song “Goodness of God”. Her voice and her message were such a blessing to our entire community. We thank God for the opportunity we have had to celebrate unity, diversity, and His perfect creation over the past four weeks. We thank God for the good news of the gospel, that we are great sinners and He is a great Savior and we all can be rescued by His saving grace at the moment we believe. Join us in praying that God will continue His work in the hearts of our students for our remaining nine weeks of chapel this year.
