Events & Announcements
What a tremendous week we have shared together getting acclimated to all things for the new school year! It has been amazing to be on campus together again, seeing smiling faces, positive spirits, and excitement for what the Lord has in store for us all at TCS. There is no doubt that there is something just a little extra special about this school year.
This week the students were reminded of some of our standard processes and procedures to continue to put into practice, some areas that we needed to improve on, and aspects that we have made adjustments to as a part of continuous quality improvement.
NEW LOCKOUT TIME MANAGEMENT PROCEDURES
We desire for students to develop lifelong skills. One of these skills is time management. In order to assist with the development of timeliness is to implement the “lock out” method. This simply means that students are expected to be in the classroom when the bell rings and not after the bell. Teachers have been discussing this method and practicing this strategy with the students this week without any consequences issued. However, beginning Monday 8/16, students who are not on time to class will be locked out of the classroom and directed to the front office to receive a tardy pass. While there are legitimate reasons for tardiness at times, our goal is to help students develop this important habit of punctuality which is why we are implementing the “lock out” procedure. As usual, unexcused tardies result in demerits and accumulate towards detention.
PARKING MATTERS
We continue to work on the parking matters for our 10th grade students and will provide an update to this as soon as we have nailed down the plan of action to execute under the direction of Chris Hanson, Director of Operations.
arrival & dismissal Videos
Be sure that you review the arrival and dismissal videos. It is critical that you follow this process to avoid any confusion and additional delays for you and/or others in the line. Having staggered arrival and dismissal times helps the process and flow for the entire campus, that is roughly 1500 people including staff and students. Please keep in mind that we have staggered dismissal times at the high school. Students with early release should go ahead and leave campus unless they have other commitments that keep them on campus. Any student that must stay on campus should wait in the student lounge and will not be permitted to wander the campus. If you will be picking up your student, you should plan to arrive on campus no earlier than 3:30 pm because although dismissal is at 3:15 pm, students will not actually be ready to leave until closer to 3:30 pm.
Parking Tags
At this time, all 11/12th grade students should have their NEW parking tags for the 21/22 school year. These must be displayed at all times while on campus. The parking tags are color coded to identify the designated parking areas that are permitted for student use. Parking tags from previous years will not be permitted. These must be updated on an annual basis.
HIGH SCHOOL Orientation VIDEO
Just in case you have not seen it, please take a moment to watch the following High School Orientation video to further assist you in becoming acclimated to Trinity.
Chapel
We had a phenomenal kickoff to our chapel year. Dr. Mark Anthony, our Head of School, was our keynote speaker, and he masterfully delved into 2 Kings 6-7 and the four lepers feasting. He wove in and out of the text with his unique style and story-telling ability while capturing the critical essence of the lepers’ story and applying it to our high school students. One highlight of note was when he said, “most of us want God to act before we will follow but more often than not in the word it is when people follow that they are blessed by God’s redemptive actions.” Imagine, 4 lepers who were even lower than pariahs on the social ladder brought the good news of God’s remarkable victory to the very city who shunned them.
Thanks for your continued prayerfulness for our leaders, teachers, speakers, and students. Next week, our all-in-for-Jesus high school principal Mrs. Kimmy Jones will bring our chapel message. Please pray for her preparation and opportunity.
