Making Waves: TCS Lady Lions Shatter Five School Records and Earn Three State Qualifying Times in Season Opener

The TCS Swim Team made a splash in its season opener last week, delivering an impressive performance in Harris County that included five new varsity school records and three state qualifying times. The Lady Lions wasted no time making their mark, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season in the pool. Four standout, swimmers Dakota Stanfield, Maddie Pinkerton, June Cofty, and Hannah Thomas, led the way with record breaking performances in both individual and relay events.
The Lady Lions opened their record breaking efforts in the 200 Medley Relay, with Dakota swimming backstroke, Maddie competing in breaststroke, June taking on butterfly, and Hannah anchoring the team in freestyle. Together, the four swimmers established a new TCS varsity school record.
Individual performances were equally impressive, as three Lady Lions etched their names into the school record books.
June Cofty broke the varsity school record in the 200 Freestyle.
Maddie Pinkerton established a new varsity school record in the 500 Freestyle.
Dakota Stanfield broke the varsity school record in the 100 Backstroke.
The record breaking momentum continued in the 400 Freestyle Relay, where Pinkerton, Thomas, Stanfield, and Cofty combined their talents to establish another varsity school record. Beyond the five school records, the Lions celebrated another significant accomplishment: three state qualifying times in their very first meet of the season. June delivered a state qualifying performance in the 200 Freestyle, finishing with a time of 2:05.51, while Dakota secured her spot in the state competition with a time of 1:04.68 in the 100 Backstroke. The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Pinkerton, Thomas, Stanfield, and Cofty also earned a state qualifying time, completing the event in an impressive 4:08.92.
These early season accomplishments reflect the dedication, hard work, and teamwork of the TCS swimmers. Breaking five varsity school records in a single meet is an extraordinary achievement, and securing three state qualifying times in the season opener makes the performance even more remarkable.
As the Trinity Swimming Lions look ahead to the remainder of the season, their opening meet provides plenty of reasons to celebrate and even more reasons to be excited about what lies ahead.
