A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

With “Meet the Teacher Day” approaching quickly, it’s time to make sure you are prepared for the start of school. Let me encourage you to check out the information below to ensure you have everything ready to go!

  1. Schedules are now available via Blackbaud! Be sure to review your child’s classes and teachers. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Peavy (kristan.peavy@tcslions.org). Print a copy of your child’s schedule to bring with you on Monday, Aug 10 to our “Meet the Teacher Day”.

Trust the Lord - Proverbs 3:5

Our theme for the 26-27 school year is “Trust the Lord”, taken from Proverbs 3:5. As we celebrate our 35th school year at TCS, we are using Proverbs 3:5 to remind ourselves and our students of the many reasons we have for trusting the Lord always. We look forward to teaching our students what it means to have the heart of a lion that trusts in Him through chapel lessons, classroom discussions and more!

NEW TEACHER WELCOME: REKE GATLIN

I am excited to join Trinity Christian School as the new Art Teacher for 1st-8th grades! I have been part of the Trinity family for over 10 years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to now serve the school community in this role. I studied Fashion Merchandising and Marketing at Academy of Art University, where I developed a strong foundation in art, design, and creative expression. Art has always been a meaningful part of my life, and I am passionate about helping students discover their own creativity, develop their artistic skills, and recognize the unique gifts God has given them.

I look forward to creating an encouraging and inspiring classroom environment where students can explore the visual arts while growing in confidence and creativity. I am excited to continue growing as part of the Trinity community and to share my love of art with my students!

ART CLUB INFORMATION

Art Club is back! Students will enjoy fun, hands-on art projects, explore new materials and techniques, express their creativity, and build friendships in a welcoming, encouraging environment. All experience levels are welcome!

Registration: Registration is open now and closes on September 1. After registration closes, I will organize Art Club groups and assign each student to a meeting day. Parents will receive an email with their child's assigned Art Club day on September 4.

Cost: $125 for the 6-week session. Payment is due at registration via Venmo @rekegatlin

Schedule: Fall Art Club will meet for a 6-week session beginning the week of September 14 and ending the week of October 26. Meeting days will be assigned after registration closes.

Dismissal to Art Club: Students will be picked up from their classrooms and escorted to the art room.

Student Pick-Up: Parents/guardians should pick up at 5:30 p.m.

Come “get the scoop” on 4th and 5th grades with a special presentation by our Upper Elementary teachers regarding procedures, curriculum, etc. Join us for a special ice cream social right after! 

  • Our 4th grade presentation will begin at 5:30 pm 

  • Our 5th grade presentation will begin at 6:30 pm 

*Ice cream will be served after each presentation.

This is an optional program for students to maintain and improve their reading skills over the summer. Students who choose to complete the challenge will receive a mystery prize in August. A form will be provided at the end of the summer to show completion.

It is important to stay sharp academically over the summer. Check out the suggested ways below to help make sure your child is ready for the transition to upper elementary. Read 20 minutes daily for fun and discuss what was read together. Rising 4th graders should be reading independently for 30 minutes. Use How to Help Your Reader at Home for extra help.

SUMMER MATH CHALLENGE

Work on multiplication facts — Mastery is considered 3 seconds per problem. Rising 4th graders should have math facts through 9’s mastered. Use math-aids.com for worksheets to practice over the summer for both speed and accuracy. In addition, check out this letter from our math department head regarding other math resources this summer.

As we look towards the start of the school year, we are excited to announce that student schedules will be made available by noon on Friday, July 31st. Be sure to check out Blackbaud on Friday to learn more about your child’s classes and teachers for this upcoming year. Mrs. Peavy, our Academic Dean, will be sending information for how to access your child’s schedule and how to communicate any questions or concerns you might have. Thank you for your patience as we carefully worked through all of the requests to build the best possible schedule for each student.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

We are only a few short weeks away from another exciting school year at TCS! As we approach this 35th anniversary year for Trinity Christian, I can’t wait to see what the Lord wants to do in this new year. Let me encourage you, as you enjoy these final days of summer, to begin preparing now in a few intentional ways. 

  1. Pray for the Lord’s plans to be accomplished - we want to see each of your children grow in new ways as they realize more and more who God has created them to be. Pray now for teacher placement, friend placement and for all the other details that make up a school year. We want this year to be the best for your child!

  2. Start grabbing those school supplies - grab those necessary items and be sure to review the grade level supply list below. 

  3. Prepare to join us for our back to school events - Friday, August 7 (Welcome to the Roar Kickoff Party) and Monday, August 10 (Meet the Teacher) are exciting events to introduce you to the 26-27 year. We hope you can come!

On Friday, August 7, we will have our Welcome to the Roar celebration, complete with blow-ups, food options, etc. This is always a great way to celebrate the start of all the LORD has in store for the coming year. In addition, on August 10, we will have our Meet the Teacher orientation day. A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

What a year the 25-26 school year was! We began the year emphasizing to our students the call placed upon them to be “bold as a lion”. Throughout the year we have directed them to understanding the work of Jesus to both save us and equip us to live out our faith boldly for His glory. My hope is that the Lord has used this year to strengthen and encourage your child in ways that will last a lifetime.

As I close out my 15th year here at TCS, I just want to say “thank you” for your continued support and encouragement. Being the Upper Elementary and Middle School Principal is an extremely high honor (I consider it one of the best jobs in the world), and I do not take for granted the tremendous privilege it is to lead your children each day. I hope your family has an incredible summer, and we look forward to seeing y’all back in the Fall…after some much-needed rest and relaxation!

4TH GRADE FIELD - CLASS PARTY TO END THE  YEAR

Our 4th graders participated in the annual Field Day activities to close out the year. It was a tight race to the finish line, but Mrs. Stephenson’s homeroom class (Team Blue) took home the victory!

THE 5Th GRADE WALK AND PARENT VS STUDENT KICKBALL GAME

Our 5th graders wrapped up their final year in elementary school in epic fashion with the traditional 5th grade walk followed by the Parent vs Student kickball game. Our 5th graders were celebrated throughout the 1st-5th grade hallways as they said their final goodbyes to elementary and took their first steps into middle school.

MATH CAMP COMING JULY 13-16

Don’t forget to sign up for Math Camp this summer! Please complete this form as an official sign-up for our upcoming summer math camp, hosted by our middle school math department. 

Details: Every summer teachers recommend students practice math skills learned the previous school year over the summer.  Many times parents intend to help their child, but time goes by quickly and skills don’t get reviewed as much as was intended.  Games and manipulatives will be used to help your child prepare for the upcoming school year.

All upper elementary families will receive a special email from Mr. Vinson in early June with an Orientation Packet for the 26-27 school year attached. The packet will include important dates in August to kickoff the new year,  details on our daily schedule, and other key features of our upper elementary program for the new year. BE ON THE LOOKOUT!

This packet will be especially helpful for rising 4th graders.

We are days away from summer break! What an unbelievable year it has been with the Lord doing so much in the lives of our students. We are so grateful for all of the growth we have seen in our students, and we are so thankful for the partnership we enjoy with each of our families. In next week’s edition (our final Inside the Pride until July) we will have important information related to the 2026-2027 school year. Make sure you check out all the exciting info as we start to look towards next year.

This year’s upper elementary awards will be an all-day event with students receiving various awards from their teachers throughout the school day on Wednesday, May 20. Several academic awards will be given out to students who have excelled in specific areas as part of our chapel service on that same day. Parents of those students receiving special recognition have been invited via email. .

4TH GRADE FIELD DAY

Our fourth graders will celebrate the end of the year with their annual field day activities on Thursday, May 21. Students should bring a water bottle and athletic shoes.

5TH GRADE WALK AND PARENT VS. STUDENT KICKBALL GAME

As part of our end-of-the-year celebration for 5th graders as they wrap up their elementary years, we invite our parents to join in on our annual 5th Grade Walk followed by our epic Parent vs. Student kickball game! Shhh…we try to keep this a secret from the students for as long as possible.

STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO WEAR THEIR BEST HAWAIIAN SHIRT!

5th GRADE WALK DETAILS:

  • Begin lining up around 8:00am after the drop-off line ends. Use the drop off area to form a walkway for the students after they exit the elementary building. 

  • The Walk will begin around 8:15am. 

KICKBALL EVENT DETAILS:

  • Friday, May 23, around 8:45 am (after the 5th-grade walk)

  • DRESS UP IN YOUR BEST PARENT SPIRIT - we encourage crazy outfits, wigs, and your best, competitive accessories to complete your attire!

  • Students can be checked out after the game.

As we look towards summer break and the final week of this school year, we wanted to communicate our plan for our optional half-day dismissals. Please review the information below and let us know if you have any questions.  

  • Optional half-day dismissal days: Wednesday, May 20 and Thursday, May 21

  • Required half-day dismissal day (no after school option): Friday, May 22

Check out the specific details below:

Dismissal times will be staggered once again, just like our December half-days. This helped to alleviate traffic overall and allowed us to end our dismissal time earlier. Please review the times below. 

NOTE: The Main Office will close at 11:45am and will not reopen until the dismissal line ends. 

  • 12:00pm - Elementary (1st-5th) will dismiss. Only students in 1st-5th grade will be dismissed at this time. If you have a middle school student to pick up as well, please see information below. 

  • 12:30pm - Middle School (6th-8th) will dismiss. Students in 6th-8th grade along with siblings in 1st-5th grade will be dismissed at this time. If you only have Elementary students to pick up, please plan to do so prior to 12:30pm. 

Note: If you attempt to go through the car line to pick up a middle school student prior to 12:30, you may be required to re-enter the car line as middle school students will not be available for pickup until after 12:30pm. 

For the optional half days on Wednesday and Thursday, students may remain at school free of charge until 3:30pm. After 3:30pm, regular after school rates will apply. If you need to pick up your child after the half-day dismissal ends, you may do so by either:

1. Picking up your child via the Main Office until 3pm. 

2. Picking up your child via the normal Afternoon Dismissal line between 3-3:30pm. 

****GO CHURCH CAMPUS INFORMATION****

EARLY LEARNING AT GO CHURCH INFORMATION FOR May 20 and 21st: The Early Learning students at our Go Church campus will dismiss from 11:30 to 12:00pm. Due to the half day dismissal, we will not offer the Junior Lions dismissal option. Early Learning students will be transported to the main campus for the Agape program at 2:10pm. 

EARLY LEARNING AT GO CHURCH INFORMATION FOR May 22nd: Transportation will NOT be provided to the main campus for Early Learning students.

5TH GRADE “ABC COUNTDOWN” TO MIDDLE SCHOOL

We are continuing our countdown to middle school this week with more coordinating dress up days and activities. Check out the schedule below or check out the weekly newsletter on Blackbaud or our Instagram page at fifthgradelions for access to the “ABC Countdown”! We can’t wait for you to continue the fun as we count down to middle school!

THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

As you may notice, our 4th-8th graders memorize the same verses each year. These memory verses are selected intentionally based on the promises and truths they contain that are so relevant for our students as they learn to follow Goodness. Our hope is that these 20 verses will be remembered for years to come after being memorized for multiple years in Upper Elementary and Middle School. 

 I Thessalonians 5:23-24

v. 23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 

v. 24 He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Lassiter challenged the 5th graders to have faith in who Jesus is and in what God has planned. Looking at John 18, the students saw how Peter cut the ear off of a man who was trying to arrest Jesus, and Jesus healed his ear. Peter watched Jesus heal the man, but he still denied Jesus 3 times the very same night. Our faith is not resting in what makes sense to us or in what we think is right, but in God’s plan and purposes. The students then enjoyed a fun game of Bible Trivia.

ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCES

The following steps should be taken for reporting absences for 4th - 8th grade:

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 1-5 DAYS? - Have your child connect with their teachers upon their return to the classroom. We will not send makeup work home for sick absences of this length through our Return to Academics program. 

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 5+ DAYS? - Reach out to Melissa Lanier (Return to Academics Coordinator) so we can best determine a makeup plan for your child. Mrs. Lanier will help collect makeup work for you to simplify the process.

CELEBRATE YOUR CHILD’S BIRTHDAY AT SCHOOL

Would you like to celebrate your child’s birthday this year? Consider one of the following options as a way to make their day special. 

  • Purchase birthday cart treat items from our snack cart for your child’s homeroom class for $25. Email our Assistant Principal, Tiffany McBurnett (tiffany.mcburnett@tcslions.org), if you would like to schedule a day. 

  • PLEASE GIVE A 2-DAY NOTICE 

  • Send in prepackaged birthday treats purchased from a store for the homeroom class. 

  • Join your child for lunch (beginning in September) in the cafeteria.

BLACKBAUD CLASSROOM INFORMATION

Blackbaud is going to be your main source of information this year. Once you login, you will see a drop down arrow in the top left corner to choose which student’s information to look at. When you click on your 4th or 5th grade student, you will see summary information, and then when you scroll down, you will see each of your student’s classes. Each class is clickable. Please click on your student’s homeroom class to see the weekly newsletter for 4th or 5th grade. Once you are in your student’s homeroom class, it will open up the Bulletin Board. Here is where you will find the clickable link for the newsletter that will be added each week. Any important information for the week will be found here. 

To find information on each specific class, you will go back to the main page for your student and click on each individual class. Again, when you click on the desired class, it will open to that class’ Bulletin Board. Here you will find helpful information such as what to do should your student be absent. For information regarding lesson plans that will include the plans for the week, homework assignments, and any upcoming tests, quizzes, or projects, you will need to click on the “Topics” tab.

To recap:

  • A weekly newsletter is found on your student’s homeroom Bulletin Board.

  • Lesson plans, assignments, etc…are found in the specific classes’ Topic tab.

Our 4th graders are all set for an unforgettable field trip to close out their first year in Upper Elementary. That’s right, our students are headed to the Gwinnett Stripers educational baseball game at Cool Ray Field.

LIONS OF THE MONTH: April

The theme for April is being Salt and Light. Coming from Jesus’ sermon in Matthew 5, we are commanded as Christians to preserve what is good and to show others what God has revealed. LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Coach Henry shared his story with the students about living purposefully for the Lord so that others may know Him. The students were challenged to analyze where they find joy and where true joy is found. Coach Henry shared how the Lord carried Him through a really difficult time. This event led him to find his satisfaction in Christ and to be purposeful every day, seeking joy in what God has given. The students were encouraged to see all that the Lord has done, to seek the Lord for all joy, and to share this joy with others that they may know Christ.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

We are only weeks away from Summer Break, but there is still a lot to do and accomplish between now and then. Please take a moment to review all of the important content in this week’s edition. Specifically, take a look below at our half-day dismissal plan for the final week of school. As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

As we look towards summer break and the final week of this school year, we wanted to communicate our plan for our optional half-day dismissals. Please review the information below and let us know if you have any questions.  

  • Optional half-day dismissal days: Wednesday, May 20 and Thursday, May 21

  • Required half-day dismissal day (no after school option): Friday, May 22

Check out the specific details below:

Dismissal times will be staggered once again, just like our December half-days. This helped to alleviate traffic overall and allowed us to end our dismissal time earlier. Please review the times below. 

NOTE: The Main Office will close at 11:45am and will not reopen until the dismissal line ends. 

  • 12:00pm - Elementary (1st-5th) will dismiss. Only students in 1st-5th grade will be dismissed at this time. If you have a middle school student to pick up as well, please see information below. 

  • 12:30pm - Middle School (6th-8th) will dismiss. Students in 6th-8th grade along with siblings in 1st-5th grade will be dismissed at this time. If you only have Elementary students to pick up, please plan to do so prior to 12:30pm. 

Note: If you attempt to go through the car line to pick up a middle school student prior to 12:30, you may be required to re-enter the car line as middle school students will not be available for pickup until after 12:30pm. 

For the optional half days on Wednesday and Thursday, students may remain at school free of charge until 3:30pm. After 3:30pm, regular after school rates will apply. If you need to pick up your child after the half-day dismissal ends, you may do so by either:

1. Picking up your child via the Main Office until 3pm. 

2. Picking up your child via the normal Afternoon Dismissal line between 3-3:30pm. 

****GO CHURCH CAMPUS INFORMATION****

EARLY LEARNING AT GO CHURCH INFORMATION FOR May 20 and 21st: The Early Learning students at our Go Church campus will dismiss from 11:30 to 12:00pm. Due to the half day dismissal, we will not offer the Junior Lions dismissal option. Early Learning students will be transported to the main campus for the Agape program at 2:10pm. 

EARLY LEARNING AT GO CHURCH INFORMATION FOR May 22nd: Transportation will NOT be provided to the main campus for Early Learning students.

MIDDLE SCHOOL MARKET DAY 

On May 4th ,5th, and 8th, our Middle School Business Finance Classes will be hosting Market Days to culminate their studies this year in class! Students will be offering items such as home-baked goods, other snacks/candy creations and drinks, bracelets, and other handmade items. Prices range from $1-$10. If students would like to purchase on their shopping day, please be sure to send cash for their purchases!

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

This Thursday, our upper elementary students will have the opportunity to participate in our school-wide National Day of Prayer assembly. This will be a special ceremony at the stadium with a time of worship, scripture reading, and prayer. We look forward to gathering with the rest of our school community for this special time together as we lift our voices to God who rules and reigns forevermore!

END OF YEAR TESTING: PROGRESS LEARNING

Progress Learning Benchmark Assessments are coming up! Remember these tests are meant to show growth and progress throughout the year. No studying is needed at home, but please make sure your child gets a good night’s rest before and eats a nutritious breakfast the morning of. 

  • Monday, May 4 = Math Testing

5TH GRADE “ABC COUNTDOWN” TO MIDDLE SCHOOL

We are continuing our countdown to middle school this week with more coordinating dress up days and activities. We can’t wait for you to continue the fun as we count down to middle school!

4TH GRADE TRIP TO BASEBALL GAME

Our 4th graders are all set for an unforgettable field trip to close out their first year in Upper Elementary. That’s right, our students are headed to the Gwinnett Stripers educational baseball game at Cool Ray Field.

As you may notice, our 4th-8th graders memorize the same verses each year. These memory verses are selected intentionally based on the promises and truths they contain that are so relevant for our students as they learn to follow Goodness. Our hope is that these 20 verses will be remembered for years to come after being memorized for multiple years in Upper Elementary and Middle School.

LIONS OF THE MONTH: April

The theme for April is being Salt and Light. Coming from Jesus’ sermon in Matthew 5, we are commanded as Christians to preserve what is good and to show others what God has revealed. Coach Settle continued our challenge of living boldly by encouraging the students to understand that God has a plan for each of our lives. He showed throughout the Bible in people like Esther, David, and the disciples that God calls us to live for him and with a purpose to tell others about him. He challenged the students to understand that Jesus provides salvation, and through that salvation, we have the freedom to live for God, the purpose he created us for.

LIONS OF THE MONTH: March

For March, we are highlighting students who are great encouragers. These students seek to lift others up, seek out those needing a friend, and display a Christ-like character to everyone. These students make an impact on teachers' lives and fellow students' lives with words of encouragement and acts of service.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Lassiter shared from Matthew 5 on being salt and light. The students were challenged to understand that bold living is achieved by preserving what is good and revealing what is good through the way we live. Jesus commands his followers to live out the gospel in their lives through righteous living and gospel proclamation. Students were challenged to understand that salt is not optional, light should not be hidden, and the glory of God is the goal.

5TH GRADE “ABC COUNTDOWN” TO MIDDLE SCHOOL

Hey fifth grade families! We are officially in the final stretch of elementary school! As a way to close out the school year, fifth grade students and teachers will be counting down the last 26 days, beginning on Wednesday, April 22nd, by moving through the alphabet with letter coordinating dress up days or activities for your student(s). 5TH GRADE TRIP TO SIX FLAGS

Our 5th graders are all set for an unforgettable field trip to conclude their elementary years! That’s right, this week our students are headed to Six Flags Over Georgia for their special Education Day field trip.

THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

As you may notice, our 4th-8th graders memorize the same verses each year. These memory verses are selected intentionally based on the promises and truths they contain that are so relevant for our students as they learn to follow Goodness. Our hope is that these 20 verses will be remembered for years to come after being memorized for multiple years in Upper Elementary and Middle School. 

  I Thessalonians 4:14, 17-18

These students make an impact on teachers' lives and fellow students' lives with words of encouragement and acts of service.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson shared with the students the reasons we can have confidence in faith based on what Jesus accomplished on Easter. Students were challenged to understand that since there is an empty tomb, we have all the reason to have strong faith in what Jesus has accomplished for us. Since Jesus did not stay dead, we can also have confidence that he is returning. Mr. Vinson also shared from Acts 1 that evidence of Jesus’ resurrection was the fact that he appeared to some who doubted him in his ministry. Students were challenged to let faith rest in facts rather than feeling and that faith is resting on the truth that Jesus rose again and is returning.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

As we approach Easter Sunday next weekend, I want to remind you that we will not have school this upcoming Friday as we take time to reflect on the meaning of Good Friday. This week reminds us of what it means to be Christian. While other religions remain popular around the world, there is a distinct belief that separates Christianity from all the rest. Our King died, but He rose again and lives forever! The comfort of Easter is that the grave did not hold Jesus, and the hope of Easter is that the same resurrection is available to all who will follow Him! May we rest in the comfort and hope of being Christ followers who know our Savior lives, giving us all the assurance we need to face our tomorrows.

THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

As you may notice, our 4th-8th graders memorize the same verses each year. These memory verses are selected intentionally based on the promises and truths they contain that are so relevant for our students as they learn to follow Goodness. Our hope is that these 20 verses will be remembered for years to come after being memorized for multiple years in Upper Elementary and Middle School.

LIONS OF THE MONTH: March

For March, we are highlighting students who are great encouragers. These students seek to lift others up, seek out those needing a friend, and display a Christ-like character to everyone. These students make an impact on teachers' lives and fellow students' lives with words of encouragement and acts of service.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Coach Savoy shared on the topic of contentment. The students were shown throughout the Bible the call to find joy in God and the things that he gives us. Students participated by helping read passages such as Psalm, Ecclesiastes, and Colossians. Students were shown that true contentment provides peace from trusting God and seeking His kingdom above everything else. Students were challenged to find contentment in Jesus, for he provides for us and provides our peace.

ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCES

The following steps should be taken for reporting absences for 4th - 8th grade:

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 1-5 DAYS? - Have your child connect with their teachers upon their return to the classroom. We will not send makeup work home for sick absences of this length through our Return to Academics program. 

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 5+ DAYS? - Reach out to Melissa Lanier (Return to Academics Coordinator) so we can best determine a makeup plan for your child. Mrs. Lanier will help collect makeup work for you to simplify the process.

CELEBRATE YOUR CHILD’S BIRTHDAY AT SCHOOL

Would you like to celebrate your child’s birthday this year? Consider one of the following options as a way to make their day special. 

  • Purchase birthday cart treat items from our snack cart for your child’s homeroom class for $25. Email our Assistant Principal, Tiffany McBurnett (tiffany.mcburnett@tcslions.org), if you would like to schedule a day. 

  • PLEASE GIVE A 2-DAY NOTICE 

  • Send in prepackaged birthday treats purchased from a store for the homeroom class. 

  • Join your child for lunch (beginning in September) in the cafeteria.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

On Monday and Tuesday of this week our students will be partaking in our annual SAT10 Standardized Testing. It is important for students to be present and on time as we are not able to accommodate any makeup testing. We are looking forward to seeing how our students perform as the test will help measure their academic growth and development Please review the reminders below to help ensure your child is able to do their very best. 

SAT10 Reminders and Helps:

  1. SLEEP - make sure your child gets adequate sleep on Sunday and Monday nights to help them be both alert and attentive for their test-taking. 

  2. NUTRITION - make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast on Monday and Tuesday mornings to help them stay focused throughout their test-taking. Students are encouraged to keep a water bottle with them in the classroom. 

  3. PREPARATION - make sure your child is at school on time so they don’t feel rushed in trying to get to their classroom. For middle schoolers, please make sure their Chromebook is charged and that they pack their charger too. 

ENCOURAGEMENT - make sure your child feels challenged to do their very best but also remind them that this test only gives a part of the feedback we use to evaluate their growth and development. We want their best, but we don’t want stress!

Elementary Talent Show Is Back! (1st-5th Grade)

We are excited to announce the return of our Elementary Talent Show for students in 1st-5th grade! This beloved annual event is an evening performance that showcases the many talents of our elementary students and it’s always a highlight of the year.

Important Dates to Know:

  • Mandatory rehearsal Tuesday, March 17 from 5:30-7:30pm

  • Talent Show is Thursday, March 19 at 6:00pm

With Q3 ending this past Friday, our teachers will be finalizing grades for the last 9-week period over the course of this week. Official grades for Q3 will be released via Blackbaud on Monday, March 23 by 3pm.

Mr. Lassiter shared from Joshua 24 about choosing to be bold. The students were shown how we make decisions every day, and, like the Israelites, we must choose whether to serve God alone or to serve other things as well. Students were challenged to live boldly by worshiping God over everything else. We are to be bold by giving God all of our worship and by serving him through living for him. We can often be distracted by other things, but a bold life chooses to focus our worship on God.

SAT10 STANDARDIZED TESTING: 

Our Stanford 10 standardized testing is coming up in just two weeks! Please make sure to have your child present on March 16-17. Students will take this norm-referenced test to show growth and mastery of skills and content in comparison to a national standard. There will not be any makeup testing. Please make sure to have your child at school ON TIME to help reduce the disruptions of entering the test late. Also, make sure they bring two number two pencils!

For January, we highlighted students who lived out one of our cultural highlights of “Filling it to the Brim”. These students displayed going above and beyond or growing in doing tasks to the best of their ability.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Coach Settle challenged the students to understand that God made us on purpose and with a purpose. He showed the students from Scripture that God chose us to be who we are, created us for a purpose, and makes us brand new through salvation. The students were encouraged to see that we have value and importance because God made us in His image. They were then challenged to live for God and to devote their lives to God through receiving what Jesus has accomplished for sins.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Each week I share a short devotional with our staff as a means of spiritual development with practical application to our role as educators here at TCS. I thought it might be helpful to share this week’s devotion with you so you can better understand the heart and desire I have for our staff as we seek to love every one of your children well. 

To our 4th-8th teachers:

The back end of Luke 4 deals with Jesus both casting out demons and healing disease. There is a lot to unpack there, but I want to draw your attention to a minor detail that Luke mentions in his retelling of the account. In v 40 we are told that the people of the town were bringing all of the sick to him. Who knows how many came, but at a time when medical advancement and opportunities were limited, it was undoubtedly a lot. What I find interesting is that Jesus refrained from healing all of them with one sweeping word. He could have, right? He calmed storms with a word. Surely He could have healed a group of people with one word too. But He didn’t. And I think that was intentional. Notice what the text says. “He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them.” Every single one of them had their moment with our Lord. Imagine the long line and imagine the tiredness of Jesus after preaching in the synagogue that morning. Yet He didn’t turn any away. He cared about every individual concern, every individual care, every individual situation. One of the things our parents long for is for their child to be cared for individually here at school. Whether it’s academically, socially or spiritually, parents want to know their child is known and loved. It’s easy for us to think we have too many students for that type of mission. But the Lord sets an example. He touched and healed every one…even though it took lots of time. May we know our kids' names, but may we also know our kids’ hearts - where are they spiritually, what cares and concerns do they have, and what might we be able to do as an extension of the Lord to provide healing and care in our classrooms?

Read Across America Week | March 2–6

We are excited to celebrate Read Across America Week with a themed Spirit Week designed to encourage a love of reading in a fun and engaging way. Students are invited to participate in daily dress-down themes inspired by favorite stories as we highlight the joy and importance of reading throughout the week. We look forward to celebrating together!

We are excited to announce the return of our Elementary Talent Show for students in 1st-5th grade! This beloved annual event is an evening performance that showcases the many talents of our elementary students and it’s always a highlight of the year.

Important Dates to Know:

  • Mandatory rehearsal Tuesday, March 17 from 5:30-7:30pm

  • Talent Show is Thursday, March 19 at 6:00pm

THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

As you may notice, our 4th-8th graders memorize the same verses each year. These memory verses are selected intentionally based on the promises and truths they contain that are so relevant for our students as they learn to follow Goodness. Our hope is that these 20 verses will be remembered for years to come after being memorized for multiple years in Upper Elementary and Middle School. 

 Psalm 119:9-11

v. 9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. 

v. 10 With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!

v. 11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

LIONS OF THE MONTH: February

For February, we are highlighting students who live out the Boldness theme we have covered in Chapel. These students seek to live rightly before their teachers and classmates. They seek to do what is right, to lead by example, and to honor the Lord in their behavior.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Kelli Penn spoke about boldness in the face of fear. Looking at Psalm 46, she showed the students that the antidote to fear is God. She taught the students key attributes of God that help us remember who He is in the face of fear. She also showed them from the Scripture passage how God answers all of our fears and troubles by being our refuge. The students were challenged not to look to themselves for boldness in fear, but to God.

ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCES

The following steps should be taken for reporting absences for 4th - 8th grade:

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 1-5 DAYS? - Have your child connect with their teachers upon their return to the classroom. We will not send makeup work home for sick absences of this length through our Return to Academics program. 

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 5+ DAYS? - Reach out to Melissa Lanier (Return to Academics Coordinator) so we can best determine a makeup plan for your child. Mrs. Lanier will help collect makeup work for you to simplify the process.

CELEBRATE YOUR CHILD’S BIRTHDAY AT SCHOOL

Would you like to celebrate your child’s birthday this year? Consider one of the following options as a way to make their day special. 

  • Purchase birthday cart treat items from our snack cart for your child’s homeroom class for $25. Email our Assistant Principal, Tiffany McBurnett (tiffany.mcburnett@tcslions.org), if you would like to schedule a day. 

  • PLEASE GIVE A 2-DAY NOTICE 

  • Send in prepackaged birthday treats purchased from a store for the homeroom class. 

  • Join your child for lunch (beginning in September) in the cafeteria.

BLACKBAUD CLASSROOM INFORMATION

Blackbaud is going to be your main source of information this year. Once you login, you will see a drop down arrow in the top left corner to choose which student’s information to look at. When you click on your 4th or 5th grade student, you will see summary information, and then when you scroll down, you will see each of your student’s classes. Each class is clickable. Please click on your student’s homeroom class to see the weekly newsletter for 4th or 5th grade. Once you are in your student’s homeroom class, it will open up the Bulletin Board. Here is where you will find the clickable link for the newsletter that will be added each week. Any important information for the week will be found here. 

To find information on each specific class, you will go back to the main page for your student and click on each individual class. Again, when you click on the desired class, it will open to that class’ Bulletin Board. Here you will find helpful information such as what to do should your student be absent. For information regarding lesson plans that will include the plans for the week, homework assignments, and any upcoming tests, quizzes, or projects, you will need to click on the “Topics” tab.

To recap:

  • A weekly newsletter is found on your student’s homeroom Bulletin Board.

  • Lesson plans, assignments, etc…are found in the specific classes’ Topic tab.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Did you know we already have 106 new applications submitted for next year?!? Trinity is the place to be, and I’m thankful for new families who are excited about joining in on all that God is doing. As we continue through the enrollment season, I want to personally thank you for being a part of the Trinity family. It’s a tremendous blessing to serve and do ministry here at TCS. Every day as I walk the hallways and interact with teachers and students, I’m reminded of how special this place is. I’m grateful for your partnership and look forward to continuing it into the 26-27 school year. Do you have questions about next year as you consider re-enrollment? Last WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson took the time to share about our G.R.A.C.E. week emphasis, specifically on the topic of Ability. The students were able to watch a video about the testimony of Daniel Ritchie. Through this testimony, Mr. Vinson encouraged students to see that though we may have differences and though we may have limitations, we all have value as image bearers of God. Our identity in Christ shows our worth and shows our restoration.
