A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Recently, our students memorized Galatians 6:7 - “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” This verse is always a point of focus for us when we return from Christmas break because we want our students to be reminded of how important hard work and effort is right now. If our students hope to reap the good things they desire at the end of the school year in May, they have to give time and attention to their studies now. As we enter into the lull of late January and early February, let me encourage you to keep on encouraging your child at home to “fill it to the brim” by doing their very best. It’s easy to grow discouraged at this point in the school year with Christmas break being behind us and summer break feeling so far away, but the Lord calls us to always do our very best, even when it’s hard to find the motivation. We are praying for each student, that the Lord will accomplish all that He desires in them over the course of this semester. May we all celebrate the reaping season in May because of the hard work accomplished during the sowing season right now!

EXCITEMENT FOR 2026-2027

Don’t forget we are entering into our continuous enrollment season as we look towards next school year. We are extremely excited about what the Lord is doing here at TCS and cannot wait to see what He has in store for next year. Remember, if you are looking to bring more of your children to TCS next year, Open Enrollment for siblings will begin tomorrow on Monday, January 26! Don’t delay in getting those applications in as we want to make sure all of our TCS families have a spot for 2026-2027 school year!

SUPER BOWL DRESS DOWN DAY

On Friday, Feb 6, students will have the opportunity to support their favorite team with a dress down day to celebrate Super Bowl Sunday. Students may wear jerseys, sweatshirts or t-shirts along with normal dress code pants/shorts. Only TCS hats will be allowed.

THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

As you may notice, our 4th-8th graders memorize the same verses each year. These memory verses are selected intentionally based on the promises and truths they contain that are so relevant for our students as they learn to follow Goodness. Our hope is that these 20 verses will be remembered for years to come after being memorized for multiple years in Upper Elementary and Middle School. 

Romans 12:1-2a

v. 1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. v. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.

LIONS OF THE MONTH: November

For November, we highlighted students who lived out the “Golden Rule”. We challenge our student body to follow the command to serve others and to treat them as we would want to be treated. These students exemplified caring well for others and treating their classmates with respect and honor.

LIONS OF THE MONTH: December

For December, we highlighted students who showed spiritual maturity and growth. We hope to continue encouraging our students to grow in their faith and to live boldly for Christ! During chapel, bible class, and the upcoming Apologetics Day, students will be challenged to hear the Gospel and respond by living out their faith.

Last WEEK IN CHAPEL

Coach Settle shared from Romans 12:1-2 about living transformed through the work of Jesus. He challenged the students to not let the world influence how we live or what we say, but to follow Jesus. He also encouraged the students through Jesus’ prayer for Christians in John 17. He showed how Jesus prayed for us when things become difficult and when the world is pressuring us. The students were shown the comforting truth that Jesus prayed for our protection and strength to be faithful to God in this world.

ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCES

The following steps should be taken for reporting absences for 4th - 8th grade:

  • Send excuses for absences, including doctor’s notes to attendance@tcslions.org.

  • Send PRE-ABSENCE REQUESTS (family trips, etc.) to Melissa Lanier (melissa.lanier@tcslions.org) via your child’s 1st period teacher. 

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 1-5 DAYS? - Have your child connect with their teachers upon their return to the classroom. We will not send makeup work home for sick absences of this length through our Return to Academics program. 

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 5+ DAYS? - Reach out to Melissa Lanier (Return to Academics Coordinator) so we can best determine a makeup plan for your child. Mrs. Lanier will help collect makeup work for you to simplify the process.

CELEBRATE YOUR CHILD’S BIRTHDAY AT SCHOOL

Would you like to celebrate your child’s birthday this year? Consider one of the following options as a way to make their day special. 

  • Purchase birthday cart treat items from our snack cart for your child’s homeroom class for $25. Email our Assistant Principal, Tiffany McBurnett (tiffany.mcburnett@tcslions.org), if you would like to schedule a day. 

  • PLEASE GIVE A 2-DAY NOTICE 

  • Send in prepackaged birthday treats purchased from a store for the homeroom class. 

  • Join your child for lunch (beginning in September) in the cafeteria.

BLACKBAUD CLASSROOM INFORMATION

Blackbaud is going to be your main source of information this year. Once you login, you will see a drop down arrow in the top left corner to choose which student’s information to look at. When you click on your 4th or 5th grade student, you will see summary information, and then when you scroll down, you will see each of your student’s classes. Each class is clickable. Please click on your student’s homeroom class to see the weekly newsletter for 4th or 5th grade. Once you are in your student’s homeroom class, it will open up the Bulletin Board. Here is where you will find the clickable link for the newsletter that will be added each week. Any important information for the week will be found here. 

To find information on each specific class, you will go back to the main page for your student and click on each individual class. Again, when you click on the desired class, it will open to that class’ Bulletin Board. Here you will find helpful information such as what to do should your student be absent. For information regarding lesson plans that will include the plans for the week, homework assignments, and any upcoming tests, quizzes, or projects, you will need to click on the “Topics” tab.

We had a fantastic day on Friday for Grandparents Day! Thank you to everyone who was able to attend. It’s such a joy to share what is happening on our campus and in our classrooms with your extended family and we are grateful for the chance to showcase that this past week. We hope each of you is now enjoying the long weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on campus this Tuesday!

Last WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr Lassiter shared from Matthew 7:24-27 about boldness involving action. He challenged the students to understand that bold faith is not just hearing or knowing what Jesus said but obeying what he tells us to do. A bold life is built on a firm foundation, obedience, and remaining faithful under pressure. The good news for us all is that Christ provides all of these for us. Like the wise man who built his house on the rock, we are to build our life on Christ and God’s Word. The students were challenged to grow in understanding that we do not rely on our strength but build our faith on what God has promised.

As we move into this second semester, we are already thinking about next school year as we get closer to the re-enrollment season. It’s a tremendous blessing to serve your family and your children’s educational needs, and we would welcome the opportunity to continue that relationship for the 26-27 school year. 100TH DAY OF SCHOOL

On Wednesday, January 14, our 4th and 5th grade students will have the opportunity to celebrate the 100th day of school! Check out the details below for how each grade level has chosen to celebrate. 

  • 4th Grade - Dress like you are 100 years old!

  • 5th Grade - Dress in neon/bright clothing for 100 days brighter!

GRANDPARENTS DAY

Don’t forget we will not have a normal school day on Friday, January 16, because we will be welcoming grandparents to campus! Students will remain at home, or join us on campus at the appropriate time slot to visit classrooms and experience activities that help highlight the learning experience here at TCS.

Mr. Vinson spoke to our students from II Kings 22-23 and II Chronicles 34-35, highlighting the story of King Josiah and his conviction, commitment and concern that resulted from reading God’s Word. Mr. Vinson encouraged our students to think about their own reputations, specifically what they are known for here at school, while also encouraging them to strive for being known as individuals who love the Lord and desire to serve Him.

STAGGERED DISMISSAL TRIAL

Thank you for all the help and compliance over the last week of December to help us evaluate the effectiveness of a staggered dismissal for our elementary and middle schools. We are continuing to review options to help ensure excellence in our dismissal flow going forward. We look forward to sharing more information and potential adjustments with you in the future.

PROGRESS LEARNING UPDATE

In our English, Reading, and Math courses we have been tracking your child's academic progress in a variety of ways. One way we track academic progress in these core areas is through Progress Learning Benchmark assessments in August, December, and May. 

We want you to be aware of your child's academic progress. Your child's December Progress Learning Benchmark score was posted prior to Christmas Break in the course's gradebook for Quarter 2. The score does not impact the student's grade. Please review the email from Kristan Peavy for guidance on Progress Learning Benchmark target scores for August, December, and May. After checking the "December Progress Learning Benchmark" in the gradebook, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email kristan.peavy@tcslions.org and she will be happy to answer any questions

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

We have had an awesome month of celebrating the Christmas season together, and we are looking forward to the upcoming break at the end of this week. As we finish out Semester 1, please be mindful of all the information in this week’s issue as there is still a lot going on as we close out this year. 

My prayer is that each of you has an incredible Christmas Break and that, together, your family can cherish the hope made available to all of us through the birth of Jesus Christ.

THE HOLLY JOLLY TROLLY RETURNS

Our Upper Elementary Christmas Snack Cart will make its return appearance beginning Tuesday, Dec 7 at lunchtime. Students may purchase Christmas snacks and treats with most items being $1-2. 

The special snack cart will run throughout the week leading up to Christmas Break.

CHRISTMAS WEEK DRESS DOWN GUIDELINES

Reminder: We are transitioning to our Christmas-themed dress down days for this final week of the semester. Students may continue to wear their pajama pants or sweatpants, but their outfit needs to follow the overall theme for the day.

DISMISSAL DETAILS FOR OPTIONAL HALF DAYS

As we look towards the last week in December, please note we will have our optional half-day dismissal days for: Tues, Dec 16, Wed, Dec 17 and Thurs, Dec 18 as usual. 

Check out the specific details below:

Optional Half-Day Dismissal Dates: Tues, Dec 16 — Wed, Dec 17

Required Half-Day Dismissal Dates: Thurs, Dec 18 — THERE WILL BE NO AFTER SCHOOL OPTION ON THIS DAY

Dismissal Times: Note this is a change from years past. We are attempting to stagger our dismissal times to help alleviate some of the traffic issues that occur during the holiday season in Peachtree City. We are also hoping this will help speed up the dismissal line overall. The Main Office will close at 11:45am and will not reopen until the dismissal line ends. 

  • 12:00pm - Elementary (1st-5th) will dismiss. Only students in 1st-5th grade will be dismissed at this time. If you have a middle school student to pick up as well, please see information below. 

  • 12:30pm - Middle School (6th-8th) will dismiss. Students in 6th-8th grade along with siblings in 1st-5th grade will be dismissed at this time. If you only have Elementary students to pick up, please plan to do so prior to 12:30pm. 

Note: If you attempt to go through the car line to pick up a middle school student prior to 12:30, you may be required to re-enter the car line as middle school students will not be available for pickup until after 12:30pm. 

For the optional half days on Tuesday and Wednesday, students may remain at school free of charge until 3:30pm. After 3:30pm, regular after school rates will apply. If you need to pick up your child after the half-day dismissal ends, you may do so by either:

1. Picking up your child via the Main Office until 3pm. 

2. Picking up your child via the normal Afternoon Dismissal line between 3-3:30pm. 

****GO CHURCH CAMPUS INFORMATION****

EARLY LEARNING AT GO CHURCH INFORMATION FOR DECEMBER 16 and 17th : The Early Learning students at our Go Church campus will dismiss from 11:30 to 12:00pm. Due to the half day dismissal, we will not offer the Junior Lions dismissal option. Early Learning students will be transported to the main campus for the Agape program at 2:10pm. 

EARLY LEARNING AT GO CHURCH INFORMATION FOR DECEMBER 18th: Transportation will NOT be provided to the main campus for Early Learning students.

THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

As you may notice, our 4th-8th graders memorize the same verses each year. These memory verses are selected intentionally based on the promises and truths they contain that are so relevant for our students as they learn to follow Goodness. Our hope is that these 20 verses will be remembered for years to come after being memorized for multiple years in Upper Elementary and Middle School.

Last WEEK IN CHAPEL

Students enjoyed chapel in the classrooms where they were able to talk about being saved through Jesus and following God in obedience. Looking to 1 John 5:1-3, the students were challenged to understand that we are saved by Jesus through believing in him, called to love God by enjoying him, and called to love others around us.

LIONS OF THE MONTH: NOVEMBER FOCUS

For November we are looking to highlight students who are living out the “Golden Rule” by showing intentional kindness and support to their fellow classmates. Throughout Q2, challenge your child to treat others the way they desire to be treated by looking for ways to serve and love over the coming weeks!

ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCES

The following steps should be taken for reporting absences for 4th - 8th grade:

  • Send excuses for absences, including doctor’s notes to attendance@tcslions.org.

  • Send PRE-ABSENCE REQUESTS (family trips, etc.) to Melissa Lanier (melissa.lanier@tcslions.org) via your child’s 1st period teacher. 

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 1-5 DAYS? - Have your child connect with their teachers upon their return to the classroom. We will not send makeup work home for sick absences of this length through our Return to Academics program. 

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 5+ DAYS? - Reach out to Melissa Lanier (Return to Academics Coordinator) so we can best determine a makeup plan for your child. Mrs. Lanier will help collect makeup work for you to simplify the process.

CELEBRATE YOUR CHILD’S BIRTHDAY AT SCHOOL

Would you like to celebrate your child’s birthday this year? Consider one of the following options as a way to make their day special. 

  • Purchase birthday cart treat items from our snack cart for your child’s homeroom class for $25. Email our Assistant Principal, Tiffany McBurnett (tiffany.mcburnett@tcslions.org), if you would like to schedule a day. 

  • PLEASE GIVE A 2-DAY NOTICE 

  • Send in prepackaged birthday treats purchased from a store for the homeroom class. 

  • Join your child for lunch (beginning in September) in the cafeteria.

Blackbaud is going to be your main source of information this year. Once you login, you will see a drop down arrow in the top left corner to choose which student’s information to look at. When you click on your 4th or 5th grade student, you will see summary information, and then when you scroll down, you will see each of your student’s classes. Each class is clickable. Please click on your student’s homeroom class to see the weekly newsletter for 4th or 5th grade. Once you are in your student’s homeroom class, it will open up the Bulletin Board. Here is where you will find the clickable link for the newsletter that will be added each week. Any important information for the week will be found here. 

To find information on each specific class, you will go back to the main page for your student and click on each individual class. Again, when you click on the desired class, it will open to that class’ Bulletin Board. Here you will find helpful information such as what to do should your student be absent. For information regarding lesson plans that will include the plans for the week, homework assignments, and any upcoming tests, quizzes, or projects, you will need to click on the “Topics” tab.

To recap:

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Luke 2:10 contains the birth announcement of Jesus to the lowly shepherds. Not only is Jesus’ arrival conveyed, so too is the purpose behind it. Jesus has come to deliver good news…news that produces great joy in those who respond…good news that is available to everyone…that the Savior of the world has come to rescue people from their sins! May this Christmas season continue to be a time of reflecting on the great joy we experience because Christ has come. 

We are right in the middle of the Christmas season here at school, and we are looking forward to several exciting events coming up over these final two weeks. Please double check the information below to make sure you are up to speed on what is happening each day as we get closer to performances, celebrations and other exciting events.

QUARTER 2 READING CHALLENGE

Our Q2 reading challenge is underway! This time around, we have a Christmas-themed activity board for students to choose from as they seek to read throughout the coming weeks. Be sure to check out all the details!

Mr. Vinson spoke to our students from I John 3 and Titus 2, highlighting that Jesus came to this world in order to destroy the works of Satan and to develop good works in us. Using The Little Drummer Boy song as an example, Mr. Vinson encouraged our students to identify their own gifts and abilities that could be used as a way to adore Christ as an act of worship.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD BOXES

We collected over 100 shoeboxes between our 4th-8th grades! We are praying the Lord would do a special work to impact lives through all of these special gifts.

ANNUAL DRESS DOWN FUNDRAISER

It’s not too late to get in on our Dress Down Days for December. For only $25, students may wear pajama pants or sweats pants along with Crocs starting this Thursday and Friday and most of December for ONLY $25! All funds raised will help offset the cost of our middle school overnight experiences. 

Don’t be caught in dress code or uniform this holiday season! Come relaxed as we celebrate the Christmas season! Check out the details below. 

  • COST: $25 - forms are available on Blackbaud for payment

  • DATES: Nov 20 and 21 and Dec 1-12

  • DETAILS: Students may wear sweatpants/pajama pants and/or Crocs. Students must wear TCS-approved dress code shirts/spiritwear/outerwear.

Last WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Lassiter shared the story of Daniel 6, talking about Daniel’s boldness lived out. The students were challenged to see that Daniel did not need to fear anything because he was living rightly before the world and God. He also did not need to fear the world’s persecution because God is faithful to save His people. Students were encouraged to remember that boldness does not come from personal bravery but from God’s faithfulness to His people. Because Daniel trusted God’s character, he could be bold to live for God and trust Him in every situation.

We are one week away from Thanksgiving Break, and we have lots of information to review as we navigate the remainder of November and head into the month of December. As believers, this is an exciting season as we focus our hearts and minds on the many blessings that our good God has given (Thanksgiving) which culminates in the greatest gift of blessing in the person of His Son Jesus (Christmas). May these upcoming weeks be filled with a spirit of gratitude for your family as we take time to ponder all that He has done for us!

FAMILY NIGHT THIS THURSDAY

Don’t forget this Tuesday, November 18 is Family Night! This means your child will have NO HOMEWORK on Tuesday and NO ASSESSMENTS on Wednesday. We want to encourage you to spend the extra time together doing something fun as you enjoy the evening together.

ANNUAL DRESS DOWN FUNDRAISER

Our Dress Down Fun starts this Thursday and Friday as we head into Thanksgiving Break. Students may wear pajama pants or sweats pants along with Crocs starting this Thursday and Friday and most of December for ONLY $25! All funds raised will help offset the cost of our middle school overnight experiences. 

Don’t be caught in dress code or uniform this holiday season! Come relaxed as we celebrate the Christmas season! Check out the details below. 

  • COST: $25 - forms are available on Blackbaud for payment

  • DATES: Nov 20 and 21 and Dec 1-12

Our Q2 reading challenge is underway! This time around, we have a Christmas-themed activity board for students to choose from as they seek to read throughout the coming weeks. Be sure to check out all the details!

DISMISSAL DETAILS FOR OPTIONAL HALF DAYS

As we look towards the last week in December, please note we will have our optional half-day dismissal days for: Tues, Dec 16, Wed, Dec 17 and Thurs, Dec 18 as usual.

Optional Half-Day Dismissal Dates: Tues, Dec 16 — Wed, Dec 17

Required Half-Day Dismissal Dates: Thurs, Dec 18 — THERE WILL BE NO AFTER SCHOOL OPTION ON THIS DAY

Dismissal Times: Note this is a change from years past. We are attempting to stagger our dismissal times to help alleviate some of the traffic issues that occur during the holiday season in Peachtree City. We are also hoping this will help speed up the dismissal line overall. The Main Office will close at 11:45am and will not reopen until the dismissal line ends. 

  • 12:00pm - Elementary (1st-5th) will dismiss. Only students in 1st-5th grade will be dismissed at this time. If you have a middle school student to pick up as well, please see information below. 

  • 12:30pm - Middle School (6th-8th) will dismiss. Students in 6th-8th grade along with siblings in 1st-5th grade will be dismissed at this time. If you only have Elementary students to pick up, please plan to do so prior to 12:30pm. 

Note: If you attempt to go through the car line to pick up a middle school student prior to 12:30, you may be required to re-enter the car line as middle school students will not be available for pickup until after 12:30pm. 

For the optional half days on Tuesday and Wednesday, students may remain at school free of charge until 3:30pm. After 3:30pm, regular after school rates will apply. If you need to pick up your child after the half-day dismissal ends, you may do so by either:

1. Picking up your child via the Main Office until 3pm. 

2. Picking up your child via the normal Afternoon Dismissal line between 3-3:30pm. 

****GO CHURCH CAMPUS INFORMATION****

EARLY LEARNING AT GO CHURCH INFORMATION FOR DECEMBER 16 and 17th : The Early Learning students at our Go Church campus will dismiss from 11:30 to 12:00pm. Due to the half day dismissal, we will not offer the Junior Lions dismissal option. Early Learning students will be transported to the main campus for the Agape program at 2:10pm. 

EARLY LEARNING AT GO CHURCH INFORMATION FOR DECEMBER 18th: Transportation will NOT be provided to the main campus for Early Learning students.

THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

As you may notice, our 4th-8th graders memorize the same verses each year. These memory verses are selected intentionally based on the promises and truths they contain that are so relevant for our students as they learn to follow Goodness. Our hope is that these 20 verses will be remembered for years to come after being memorized for multiple years in Upper Elementary and Middle School.

Last WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Lassiter shared the story of Daniel 6, talking about Daniel’s boldness lived out. The students were challenged to see that Daniel did not need to fear anything because he was living rightly before the world and God. He also did not need to fear the world’s persecution because God is faithful to save His people. Students were encouraged to remember that boldness does not come from personal bravery but from God’s faithfulness to His people. Because Daniel trusted God’s character, he could be bold to live for God and trust Him in every situation.

LIONS OF THE MONTH: NOVEMBER FOCUS

For November we are looking to highlight students who are living out the “Golden Rule” by showing intentional kindness and support to their fellow classmates. Throughout Q2, challenge your child to treat others the way they desire to be treated by looking for ways to serve and love over the coming weeks!

ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCES

The following steps should be taken for reporting absences for 4th - 8th grade:

  • Send excuses for absences, including doctor’s notes to attendance@tcslions.org.

  • Send PRE-ABSENCE REQUESTS (family trips, etc.) to Melissa Lanier (melissa.lanier@tcslions.org) via your child’s 1st period teacher. 

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 1-5 DAYS? - Have your child connect with their teachers upon their return to the classroom. We will not send makeup work home for sick absences of this length through our Return to Academics program. 

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 5+ DAYS? - Reach out to Melissa Lanier (Return to Academics Coordinator) so we can best determine a makeup plan for your child. Mrs. Lanier will help collect makeup work for you to simplify the process.

Would you like to celebrate your child’s birthday this year? Consider one of the following options as a way to make their day special.

Pastor Engle, FBC Newnan, shared about boldness through the power of the Holy Spirit from Acts 1:8. The students were challenged to understand that you cannot live for Christ without the power of Christ living in you. Being bold is not about personality or hype but about faithful living before God. When we are connected to Christ through the Holy Spirit, we can be bold in this life. The students were encouraged by the fact that the Holy Spirit can turn our greatest weakness into a great witness for God.

Mr. Vinson taught from I Peter 5:8-9 and shared the warnings and dangers of what it means to have Satan roaming like a roaring lion. Students were reminded that Jesus is greater than Satan (I John 4:4) and that ultimately we must fight back with our faith in Jesus.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Here at TCS, we value the feedback of our parents as your thoughts and insight help us improve on the experience we are striving to provide to each student here at Trinity. We would be grateful if you would take the time to complete our Q1 survey to provide feedback on the first 9 weeks of school. Each year I read through every submission with a goal of growing and learning in my role here. I appreciate any feedback you would like to provide.

THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

As you may notice, our 4th-8th graders memorize the same verses each year. These memory verses are selected intentionally based on the promises and truths they contain that are so relevant for our students as they learn to follow Goodness. Our hope is that these 20 verses will be remembered for years to come after being memorized for multiple years in Upper Elementary and Middle School. 

I Peter 5:8-9

v. 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. v. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

Last WEEK IN CHAPEL

Dr. Anthony shared from Luke 14 about Jesus’ invitation to the kingdom of God. Students were encouraged to see that Jesus declared that all were invited to the kingdom of God, no matter our background or where we are from. The students were challenged to understand that God invites all of us; we should not make excuses, and we should seek to invite all those around us as well. If God is open to everyone being welcomed to His kingdom, then we should be too.

LIONS OF THE MONTH: OCTOBER FOCUS

For October, we are looking to highlight students who are striving to perform above and beyond in the classroom. Throughout Q2, challenge your child to do their very best and to even exceed expectations in all they strive to do over these upcoming weeks!

ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCES

The following steps should be taken for reporting absences for 4th - 8th grade:

  • Send excuses for absences, including doctor’s notes to attendance@tcslions.org.

  • Send PRE-ABSENCE REQUESTS (family trips, etc.) to Melissa Lanier (melissa.lanier@tcslions.org) via your child’s 1st period teacher. 

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 1-5 DAYS? - Have your child connect with their teachers upon their return to the classroom. We will not send makeup work home for sick absences of this length through our Return to Academics program. 

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 5+ DAYS? - Reach out to Melissa Lanier (Return to Academics Coordinator) so we can best determine a makeup plan for your child. Mrs. Lanier will help collect makeup work for you to simplify the process.

CELEBRATE YOUR CHILD’S BIRTHDAY AT SCHOOL

Would you like to celebrate your child’s birthday this year? Consider one of the following options as a way to make their day special. 

  • Purchase birthday cart treat items from our snack cart for your child’s homeroom class for $25. Email our Assistant Principal, Tiffany McBurnett (tiffany.mcburnett@tcslions.org), if you would like to schedule a day. 

  • PLEASE GIVE A 2-DAY NOTICE 

  • Send in prepackaged birthday treats purchased from a store for the homeroom class. 

  • Join your child for lunch (beginning in September) in the cafeteria.

Blackbaud is going to be your main source of information this year. Once you login, you will see a drop down arrow in the top left corner to choose which student’s information to look at. When you click on your 4th or 5th grade student, you will see summary information, and then when you scroll down, you will see each of your student’s classes. Each class is clickable. Please click on your student’s homeroom class to see the weekly newsletter for 4th or 5th grade. Once you are in your student’s homeroom class, it will open up the Bulletin Board. Here is where you will find the clickable link for the newsletter that will be added each week. Any important information for the week will be found here. 

To find information on each specific class, you will go back to the main page for your student and click on each individual class. Again, when you click on the desired class, it will open to that class’ Bulletin Board. Here you will find helpful information such as what to do should your student be absent. For information regarding lesson plans that will include the plans for the week, homework assignments, and any upcoming tests, quizzes, or projects, you will need to click on the “Topics” tab.

We had an incredible first 9 weeks to the school year, and we are taking time in this week’s issue to honor students who particularly excelled in their attitudes and actions throughout the start of the year. Check out below our Lions of the Month for September (students who have shown exemplary school spirit) along with our Q1 Pride Performers (students who have gone above and beyond in their classroom performance). We are so grateful for our student body overall and are extremely proud of those who are helping to build a culture of excellence here at TCS.

NATIONAL CROC DAY: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23

Students are encouraged to wear their favorite pair of Crocs to celebrate National Croc Day on Thursday this week. Normal dress code/uniform standards apply to the rest of your child’s outfit for the day.

GLOW DAY IS COMING!

Our 5th graders will be treated to a special day this Friday as our teachers celebrate their annual GLOW DAY. Be sure to wear clothes that will stand out under a black light and be prepared for an incredible day of learning!

UPCOMING 5TH GRADE FIELD TRIP

Our annual 5th grade field trip to Stone Mountain Park is coming up on Thursday, Oct 30, Students will have the opportunity to experience the Native American Festival and Pow Wow along with many other park activities. The cost for the trip will be $20. Be on the lookout for more information and a payment option in Blackbaud.

WHAT IS A PRIDE PERFORMER?

Each quarter we ask our teachers to identify students who worked hard and sought to do their very best by “filling it to the brim” in their classroom performance. The following students were chosen by their teachers for excelling during the 1st 9-week period of this school year. 

  • 4th Grade ELA = Kenzie Hartley

  • 4th Grade Math = Clara Bloemsma

Last WEEK IN CHAPEL

Coach Settle shared with the students from John 17 about Jesus’ prayer for His followers. He challenged the students to remember that as Christians, we are on a mission to share the gospel with others. The students were shown how Jesus prayed that His followers would be protected from this world and from the temptation of sin. They are also challenged to remember that the truth of God’s Word is what preserves us.

GIVE TO THE TRINITY FOOD PANTRY

We have an exciting opportunity to serve our community for the holidays! From October 6-17, students are encouraged to bring canned goods to help stock the Trinity Church food pantry.

Not only will this be a great opportunity for students to serve our community, but students can also earn house points for each item they bring! House boxes will be located outside of Mr. Vinson's office.

Requested items:

- Canned veggies

- Canned fruit

- Canned meat

- Canned milk

- Peanut butter

- Spaghetti sauce

Mr. Vinson continued our theme of “bold as a lion” by teaching our students what it means to be “bold in speech” based on passages found in the book of Ephesians. Students learned that we can either be boldly brave or boldly bad when it comes to how we use our tongues. We can either allow our speech to be bold in the corrupt or inappropriate ways we talk, or we can be bold in our proclamation of faith and truth.

LIONS OF THE MONTH: SEPTEMBER FOCUS

For the month of SEPTEMBER, we are focusing on SCHOOL SPIRIT and will be honoring our students who go above and beyond to demonstrate their love and appreciation for TCS. This can be shown through their effort and respect in the classroom, their passion for our school during homecoming week and through a general attitude and mindset of working to make our school the best place possible.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

It’s an exciting upcoming week as we come to the end of Q1 and look forward to an extended Fall Break weekend. Don’t forget, we have a short week on campus with a remote learning day on Friday. In addition, this Thursday is our Fall Family Fest and Elementary Open House. Activities start at 5:30pm! We hope to see you there!

In addition, I wanted to share a quick thought from Daniel 2:21. As we start to feel cooler air and see colorful leaves, it’s a reminder that the seasonal changes are meant to point us to the power and might of our God. The orderliness of creation reminds us that God is in control, but His control extends far further than the weather. He is Lord over every king, every government, every circumstance and every situation. With the upcoming holiday season, may we use this new season to remind ourselves of all that we have to give thanks!

FALL FAMILY FEST PLANS FOR UPPER ELEMENTARY

This Thursday is our Fall Family Fest, and we hope you can join us as we celebrate the end of Q1 and kickoff Fall Break!

Open House - 5:30-7pm - classrooms will be open and our 4th/5th teachers will have a special activity for our students to complete 

Festival Activities - 5:30-8pm - blowups and games with concession stand open

REMOTE LEARNING WORK: MATH

For Friday, your child will be given an assignment from their Math class to complete. The assignment is designed to be completed independently and will be due when we return to the classroom on Tuesday, October 14. Please feel free to complete the assignment either on Friday or at a time over the weekend that works best for your family’s schedule. To avoid a late penalty, please double check to make sure your child has completed the full assignment.

FALL PICTURE RETAKES MONDAY, OCTOBER 6! SIGN UP BELOW

School Picture Retakes for all TCS students (Prek-3 through 12th grade) will be Monday, October 6!

If you would like for your student(s) to have their picture retaken, please complete the appropriate picture retake form through the link below to register them. Be sure to include your student's teacher. *Please fill out a separate form for each student.

This retake is for students whose first picture needs to be redone or if they were absent on the first picture day. The retake picture is the one that will be used in the yearbook and the only picture available for purchase as it will replace the original picture.

GIVE TO THE TRINITY FOOD PANTRY

We have an exciting opportunity to serve our community for the holidays! From October 6-17, students are encouraged to bring canned goods to help stock the Trinity Church food pantry.

Not only will this be a great opportunity for students to serve our community, but students can also earn house points for each item they bring! House boxes will be located outside of Mr. Vinson's office.

- Canned milk

- Peanut butter

UPCOMING 5TH GRADE FIELD TRIP

Our annual 5th grade field trip to Stone Mountain Park is coming up on Thursday, Oct 30, Students will have the opportunity to experience the Native American Festival and Pow Wow along with many other park activities. The cost for the trip will be $20. Be on the lookout for more information and a payment option in Blackbaud.

THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

As you may notice, our 4th-8th graders memorize the same verses each year. These memory verses are selected intentionally based on the promises and truths they contain that are so relevant for our students as they learn to follow Goodness. Our hope is that these 20 verses will be remembered for years to come after being memorized for multiple years in Upper Elementary and Middle School.

THIS WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson continued our theme of “bold as a lion” by teaching our students what it means to be “bold in speech” based on passages found in the book of Ephesians. Students learned that we can either be boldly brave or boldly bad when it comes to how we use our tongues. We can either allow our speech to be bold in the corrupt or inappropriate ways we talk, or we can be bold in our proclamation of faith and truth.

LIONS OF THE MONTH: SEPTEMBER FOCUS

For the month of SEPTEMBER, we are focusing on SCHOOL SPIRIT and will be honoring our students who go above and beyond to demonstrate their love and appreciation for TCS. This can be shown through their effort and respect in the classroom, their passion for our school during homecoming week and through a general attitude and mindset of working to make our school the best place possible. 

ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCES

The following steps should be taken for reporting absences for 4th - 8th grade:

Homecoming Week is here, and we are looking forward to a fun-filled week of TCS spirit leading up to Friday night’s homecoming football game against Whitewater! Please take time to review the specifics below about this week’s dress code expectations with the dress down options.

DON’T FORGET TO JOIN US FOR THE SCHOOL-WIDE PARADE ON MONDAY NIGHT!

HOMECOMING SPIRIT WEEK DRESS DOWN DAYS

  • Monday - “Slumber Party” = wear pajamas

  • Tuesday - “Dress As Something Your First Name Starts With” = be creative

  • Wednesday - “Group Matching Day” = join up with your friends

  • Thursday - “UGA vs Alabama” = show your team spirit

  • Friday - “Wacky Tacky TCS Day” = go all out with purple and black

See Mrs. McBurnett’s guidance in selecting school-appropriate attire for the week…

  • No leggings

  • No boxer shorts.

  • No silky pajamas. 

  • No spaghetti straps, tank tops,  or tops with low V neck.

  • Holes/rips/tears in jeans should not be above the knee.  

  • Mesh/see-through tops should not be worn unless there is a full coverage top underneath them.  

  • Tops should touch the top of the pants. If you lift your arms and we can see your skin, it is too short and can only be worn with an undershirt. 

  • Shorts must be mid-thigh length. 

  • Skirts and dresses must be mid-thigh length and have shorts underneath.

  • Hats and open-toe shoes may be worn.

  • Any face paint must be done at home. (FRIDAY ONLY)

We are now past the halfway mark for Q1. Can you believe we are already heading into Week 6 of this school year?!? Now is the time to start taking a deeper look at your child’s grades as more and more assignments and assessments are starting to be recorded. With 4 weeks remaining in this grading period, we want to make sure every student is doing their very best and has the tools needed to succeed as we look towards our first report cards. Mark your calendars — Tuesday, September 9th is set to be an exciting day for our 4th–5th grade students! During recess, students will have the opportunity to get their faces painted with a non-allergic & washable bold lion paw print, allowing them to show off their school spirit as they walk the hallways. We’re turning up the energy and school spirit as we launch into The TCS Annual Fund Blitz Week!

As you may notice, our 4th-8th graders memorize the same verses each year. These memory verses are selected intentionally based on the promises and truths they contain that are so relevant for our students as they learn to follow Goodness. Our hope is that these 20 verses will be remembered for years to come after being memorized for multiple years in Upper Elementary and Middle School. 

I John 1:5-6 

v. 5 This is the message we have heard from Him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. v. 6 If we say we have fellowship with Him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

For the month of AUGUST, we focused on HOSPITALITY and will be honoring our students who went above and beyond to serve and welcome our new students to the TCS family. 

This week in chapel we will honor 4 students from each grade level who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to welcome and acclimate other students to the new school year.

Every Wednesday during our pre-chapel D-Groups, we have a group of teachers who will be praying for our students. We would love to have specific requests to bring to the Lord each week on behalf of our student body.

  • Send excuses for absences, including doctor’s notes to attendance@tcslions.org.

  • Send PRE-ABSENCE REQUESTS (family trips, etc.) to Melissa Lanier (melissa.lanier@tcslions.org) via your child’s 1st period teacher. 

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 1-5 DAYS? - Have your child connect with their teachers upon their return to the classroom. We will not send makeup work home for sick absences of this length through our Return to Academics program. 

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND ABSENT 5+ DAYS? - Reach out to Melissa Lanier (Return to Academics Coordinator) so we can best determine a makeup plan for your child. Mrs. Lanier will help collect makeup work for you to simplify the process.

CELEBRATE YOUR CHILD’S BIRTHDAY AT SCHOOL

Would you like to celebrate your child’s birthday this year? Consider one of the following options as a way to make their day special. 

  • Purchase birthday cart treat items from our snack cart for your child’s homeroom class for $25. Email our Assistant Principal, Tiffany McBurnett (tiffany.mcburnett@tcslions.org), if you would like to schedule a day. 

  • PLEASE GIVE A 2-DAY NOTICE 

  • Send in prepackaged birthday treats purchased from a store for the homeroom class. 

  • Join your child for lunch (beginning in September) in the cafeteria.

Blackbaud is going to be your main source of information this year. Once you login, you will see a drop down arrow in the top left corner to choose which student’s information to look at. When you click on your 4th or 5th grade student, you will see summary information, and then when you scroll down, you will see each of your student’s classes. Each class is clickable. Please click on your student’s homeroom class to see the weekly newsletter for 4th or 5th grade. Once you are in your student’s homeroom class, it will open up the Bulletin Board. Here is where you will find the clickable link for the newsletter that will be added each week. Any important information for the week will be found here. 

To find information on each specific class, you will go back to the main page for your student and click on each individual class. Again, when you click on the desired class, it will open to that class’ Bulletin Board. Here you will find helpful information such as what to do should your student be absent. A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

I hope each of you is enjoying the extended weekend and making fun memories with family and friends! Don’t forget to have your child finish up their Remote Learning assignment for science class. As we look forward to returning to campus on Tuesday, all remote assignments will be due in class to avoid a late penalty. If you have any questions about the assignment, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher. Again, we hope you have had a great weekend, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone back for the start of Week 5!

CHESS CLUB

Coach Rodney Lewis and Championship Chess present a systematic, fun way to build chess skills during chess instruction and supervised play. Studies show that chess improves math, reading and problem solving and our methods connect these academic benefits to our classes.

THIS WEEK IN CHAPEL

Pastor Cobb, FBC Senoia, shared from Hebrews 10:19-25 about Jesus providing access to God. Along with our spiritual theme for the year, the students were encouraged to look to Jesus, as He is the one who provides boldness to approach God. Pastor Cobb shared the purpose of the curtain in the Old Testament, but since Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for sins, Christians can draw near to God, hold on to our faith, and love one another. We can have boldness before God if we are in Christ because of what He accomplished for us.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

We have had an incredibly smooth start to the new school year and can’t thank the LORD enough for all that He is doing on our campus. We are so grateful for your prayers and support throughout this month. For our new families, please reach out if there is anything we can do particularly for you or your student. We consider it a privilege to have you here as part of the Trinity family and want to make sure your start to the year is just as smooth. HOUSE COLOR DAY: REP YOUR HOUSE!

Our first House Color Day of the year is coming up on Monday, August 25. Students are encouraged to wear a colored shirt that corresponds to their house (please no hats). Check out your child’s house assignment and color below.

FOOTBALL DRESS DOWN OPPORTUNITY

The college football and NFL seasons are kicking off soon and to give our students the chance to celebrate, we are inviting them to dress down on Thursday, August 28 by wearing t-shirts and sweatshirts to support their favorite team! Normal dress code/uniform standards apply for shorts/pants and shoes. Please no hats except for TCS hats.

REMOTE LEARNING DAY INFO

In anticipation of our upcoming Remote Learning Day on Friday, please see the information below about how remote learning days will be handled this year. 

Overview

  • 1 assignment total each remote day

  • Assignment should take around 30 minutes to complete 

  • Assignment will be graded for a “Daily Work” grade

*Please look for specific information from your child’s teacher about this week’s Remote Learning Day assignment.

Our beginning of the year benchmark testing will take place on August 27 and 28 with students being assessed in Math and ELA. Please encourage your child to do their very best as these tests are used to monitor student growth in learning throughout the school year. Additional testing will take place in December and May. These tests help inform our teacher instruction while also helping us to evaluate curriculum selection too.

THIS WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson spoke from Acts 28:1-6 and the story of Paul being bitten by a snake. Tying in the current memory verse (Ephesians 2:8-9), Mr. Vinson emphasized that good works won’t make us okay with God, but God does make us okay with Him through the work of Jesus. While the natives in the story felt like their god was going to judge Paul for being a murderer, we learned that Jesus was Paul’s advocate before the one true God!
