A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Don’t forget we have a short week coming up with our Remote Learning Day on Friday, March 17. All remote learning assignments should be turned in when we return to the classroom on Monday, March 20. Also, this is the final week of Q3, so help encourage your child to finish strong over these final few days. The actual grading period will end on Wednesday, March 15, and report cards will be made available on Monday, March 27. Keep reminding your child of the sowing/reaping principle found in Galatians 6:9! Don’t give up!

HOW ARE WE DOING?

Let me know how our team is doing in keeping you informed about your child’s education this year. If you are lacking communication regarding one of your child’s classes, please let me know so I can help! adam.vinson@tcslions.org.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson spoke to our students from Psalm 119:9-11 (this week’s memory verse) and emphasized the importance of memorizing Scripture, not for the purpose of passing a quiz, but instead for the purpose of fighting sin and obeying God. The phrase “what we know will determine how we go” was used to reinforce the biblical idea that what we know about God (His character, His promises, etc.) will help determine how we go throughout each day. By memorizing the Bible, the Holy Spirit will help us recall important truths to fight through temptation and navigate challenging circumstances as they come. May our kids embrace a love for God’s Word by memorizing it well!

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson introduced the G.R.A.C.E. concept to our upper elementary students by showing God’s good design for our differences in G-ender, R-esources, A-bilities, C-olor, and E-thnicity. While discussing our many differences, Mr. Vinson also emphasized that we are the same in the most important areas. Specifically, we share the same VALUE as image-bearers of God who come from the same ORIGIN (Adam and Eve) and are given the same PURPOSE (glorifying God) for our specific lives. In addition, Galatians 3 was used to show that we are all SAVED and placed in Christ the same way. Just like a stained-glass window that is made up of many varying colors to display beauty in different shades, we image God in beautiful ways through our differences. But because we are the same in the most important ways, we have a great responsibility to treat each other with kindness, respect, and love in spite of our differences.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Re-enrollment season is here, and we are already getting excited about what the LORD has in store for 2023-2024. I know many of you are thinking through the best plans for your child for next school year, and I just want to make sure you know I’m available to answer any questions or discuss any concerns you may have. Our goal is to ensure every student in our program is thriving year after year, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you would like to talk about how we can ensure this goal is accomplished for your child next year as you make re-enrollment decisions. We are already seeing an incredible response to re-enrollment and anticipate a lot of interest from new families as well, so don’t delay if setting up a time to talk with me would be helpful.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Dr. Anthony shared his vision for our school during chapel by highlighting the people we know populate Heaven from Rev. 7. Just as Heaven will have people of different color skin, different cultures, and different backgrounds, we too desire to be a school that looks like Heaven. But not only do we want to look like Heaven, we want to act like Heaven too. Dr. Anthony reminded our students that by loving our neighbor as ourselves and by being known for our love towards each other, together we can build a school that images God well.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH FOCUS FOR THE WEEK

In 4th grade our students will be learning about Raye Montague by reading the book The Girl with a Mind for Math. Check out the excerpt from the book below.

  • After touring a German submarine in the early 1940s, young Raye set her sights on becoming an engineer. Little did she know sexism and racial inequality would challenge that dream every step of the way, even keeping her greatest career accomplishment a secret for decades. Through it all, the gifted mathematician persisted―finally gaining her well-deserved title in history: a pioneer who changed the course of ship design forever.

In addition, our 4th graders will continue working on their MLK prompt through February 10.

In 5th grade our students will be researching various African-American inventors, engineers, and scientists while producing BLOOM balls to display in the hallways to show off their hard work.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

As we approach the month of February, we are excited about the month-long focus we have planned to celebrate the diversity of both Black History Month and G.R.A.C.E. As you may know, G.R.A.C.E. at Trinity stands for G-ender, R-esources, A-bility, C-olor, and E-thnicity. Our goal this month is to celebrate the ways God has made us different as we better learn to see each other through the lens of being created in God’s image. Our teachers are working hard to plan lessons that will support this goal throughout February. May the LORD be glorified through our efforts as we point our students to Him by calling them to love each other well.

HOW ARE WE DOING?

Let me know how our team is doing in keeping you informed about your child’s education this year. If you are lacking communication regarding one of your child’s classes, please let me know so I can help! adam.vinson@tcslions.org.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Ryan Appling, youth pastor at Flat Creek Baptist Church, spoke to our students from Philippians 1 regarding the joy Paul experienced during his imprisonment. Using his own personal experiences as an example, Pastor Appling encouraged our students to see their circumstances as an opportunity for gospel opportunities rather than falling to the trap of complaining with a bad attitude.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH AND G.R.A.C.E. FOCUS

We are looking forward to celebrating our diversity during the month of February with a special focus on black history. In addition, we will be incorporating our G.R.A.C.E. acronym into various lessons, chapels and our special G.R.A.C.E. Day as well.

  • 3 Weeks with Focused Content on Black History

    • Feb. 1-3 = History classes

    • Feb. 6-10 = Math classes

    • Feb. 20-24 = ELA classes

  • Our teachers are working hard to plan lessons and activities to help our students better understand the impact made by the likes of Martin Luther King Jr., Katherine Johnson Amanda Gorman and more!

What does G.R.A.C.E. mean?

G.R.A.C.E. is about us better understanding how each of us is made in the image of God and how we should treat each other in light of that truth. While we are different in our G-ender, in our R-esources, in our A-bilities, in our skin C-olor, and in our E-thnicity/culture, we all image God in those differences and deserve the respect and appreciation of others - not just in spite of our differences, but because of our differences!

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Can you believe we are already 3 weeks into Quarter 3??? While it may feel like Christmas Break just ended, we are well underway with this semester’s academics. Be sure to review your child’s grades this weekend to gauge their progress so far. We are still early enough in Q3 where necessary adjustments can be made to help keep your child on pace for success. As an administrative staff, we are reaching out to those individuals who seem to be struggling, but please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if a conversation would be helpful for you to better understand how your child is doing.

HOW ARE WE DOING?

Let me know how our team is doing in keeping you informed about your child’s education this year. If you are lacking communication regarding one of your child’s classes, please let me know so I can help! adam.vinson@tcslions.org

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson spoke to our students from Romans 12:1-2 (this week’s memory verse). Keying in on the theme of transformation through mind renewal, Mr. Vinson shared how our minds are broken due to sin and need to be reprogrammed to think the way God desires for us to think. If left unchecked, our broken minds tell us dangerous things are safe and evil things are good. Specifically, students were challenged about the way they view their life (can we do whatever we want?), their money (do we really need to share?), and their bodies (what does it mean to walk in the flesh?). For application, students were encouraged to evaluate how much influence they’re allowing God’s Word to have on their minds.

THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

Romans 12:1-2a

BLACK HISTORY MONTH AND G.R.A.C.E. FOCUS

We are looking forward to celebrating our diversity during the month of February with a special focus on black history. In addition, we will be incorporating our G.R.A.C.E. acronym into various lessons and chapels as well. In the coming weeks, we will be sharing information related to our classroom focus, but in the meantime, check out what G.R.A.C.E. stands for at Trinity.

VINSON

We hope you enjoyed the long holiday weekend! Don’t forget your child will need to turn in all remote learning assignments (Thursday night’s homework) on Tuesday to avoid a late penalty. As we enter into Quarter 3, keep in mind that this season of the school year is historically challenging. The post-Christmas slump can be a real thing, so be sure to stay on top of your child’s performance and keep encouraging them to do their very best. Join us in praying that the LORD will show Himself mighty over this 9-week period and that our students will accomplish great things for Him!

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Coach Settle spoke to our students from II Chronicles 34 by highlighting the type of king that Josiah was in spite of his young age. Coach Settle reminded our students that the bulk of the Israelite kings were known for their wickedness, while a small minority were known for their casual faithfulness. Even less were known for their whole-hearted devotion to God. The challenge given to our students is to be the young man or woman of God that does not “turn aside to the right hand or to the left” but instead does what is “right in the eyes of the LORD.”

Dr. Anthony spoke to our students from Matthew 8 with a retelling of the story of “Jesus and the Leper.” By looking at the importance of human touch and interaction, Dr. Anthony helped our students see the great impact that Jesus had on those around Him through His intentionality in His interactions. The challenge to our students was to see the impact they are capable of having by being intentional to encourage and lift up others, particularly those who often feel isolated and left out.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson spoke to our students about the meaning of Christmas, specifically how the significance of Christmas extends far beyond the simple story of Jesus being born in Bethlehem. The real meaning is found in the reason behind Jesus coming and what was accomplished through his life. Focusing on the words PEACE, HOPE and JOY, Mr. Vinson used various Scripture passages to help our students see how Jesus’ coming that first Christmas helped bring PEACE between us and God, HOPE for our future, and JOY for our daily lives.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Psalm 100 reminds us of the great blessings we enjoy as believers and the countless reasons for us to be thankful. Not only do we serve a God who claims us as His own, He has revealed Himself as the source of all goodness who gives an endless supply of love to those who follow Him. May you find time during this Thanksgiving season to make a joyful noise to Him by giving thanks for His ongoing faithfulness to you!

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Pastor JC Worley from GO Church reminded our students that Jesus is the source of true satisfaction in life. Using the acronym “SNICKERS”, Pastor JC helped our kids to see that Jesus provides Salvation, New Life, Intercession, Comfort, Koinonia, Eternity, Rewards, and the Holy Spirit to those who follow Him. While the candy bar is great (and our students got to enjoy one in chapel), Jesus provides true satisfaction to all those who are hungry!

To find information on each specific class, you will go back to the main page for your student and click on each individual class. Again, when you click on the desired class, it will open to that class’ Bulletin Board. Here is where you find clickable weekly Lesson Plans that will include the plans for the week, homework assignments, and any upcoming tests, quizzes, or projects.

REMINDER: ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCES

The following steps should be taken for reporting absences for Pre-K - 8th grade:

If your child has to miss class this year due to sickness or quarantine, check out our process below for getting your child caught up on missing work and assignments.

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS ABSENT 1-2 DAYS? - Have your child connect with their teachers upon their return to the classroom. We will not send makeup work home for sick absences of this length.

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS ABSENT 3+ DAYS? - Reach out to Kasey Hanson (Return to Academics Coordinator) so we can best determine a makeup plan for your child.

  • NOTE: If your child is sick, we want your child to focus on resting and healing before worrying about missing assignments. Please know our teachers will work diligently to help your child catch up once they are feeling well enough to complete assignments.

IMPORTANT 22/23 RESOURCES:

DRESS CODE OVERVIEW - check out this year’s guidelines

PRE-ABSENCE FORM - submit pre-planned absences 5 days ahead of time for approval.
