MEET THE TEACHER CHECKLIST

PRINTING YOUR CHILD’S SCHEDULE

Login to Blackbaud (tcslions.myschoolapp.com) and click on your student in the top left hand corner. Click on the "schedule" tab. On the next page, click on the blue link labeled "view full schedule". On the right hand side, you will see an icon that looks like 2 pieces of paper and when you hover over it, it will say "schedule reports". Once you click on that, choose "Student Schedule - By Day Name (Grid)". On the next screen you will need to adjust the start date to "8/14/23" and the end date to "8/18/23" in order to print a full week's schedule. You will then need to click on "Generate Report". Once the report is generated, you can print the schedule from that screen.

BE SURE TO SEND YOUR CHILD TO MEET THE TEACHER AND THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL WITH A COPY OF THEIR SCHEDULE!

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN - celebrations, parties and goodbyes! It’s the final week of school and summer break is only days away. What a year we have had! The blessings are countless when I think back on all the LORD has done for us this year. I’m so proud of our students and the growth we have seen in each of them this year. All glory goes to God for the many accomplishments we have seen. We look forward to ending this year strong with a week of celebration both in and out of the classrooms.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Moore, our 7th grade Bible teacher, challenged our students from Philippians 2 and the call each Christian has to work out their salvation. Using the example of Jesus found in this chapter, Mr. Moore encouraged our students to live for Jesus, to trust God’s work in their lives without complaining, and to shine as lights to others.

LIONS OF THE WEEK

  • 4th Grade - Skylar Tilley

  • 5th Grade - Faith Mullins

ABC DRESS DOWN FOR 5TH GRADE STUDENTS

Continue to check out the weekly newsletter on Blackbaud for access to the “ABC Countdown”. All of our 5th graders are encouraged to participate in these special dress down days.

THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

I Thessalonians 5:23-24

v. 23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

v. 24 He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it.

2023-2024 CLASS SCHEDULING PREFERENCE FORMS

As we look towards building your child’s schedule for next year, please use the links below to complete your child’s preferences for Specials and friend groupings. Use the email sent by Mr. Vinson to help answer specific questions you might have.

5TH GRADE WALK

In anticipation of saying goodbye to elementary school, our 5th graders are encouraged to dress in their best Hawaiian attire as they say one final “aloha” before MIDDLE SCHOOL. The 5th grade walk will take place right after our Upper Elementary Awards program. Parents who want to participate in the walk should be present no later than 9:15am. Remember, our parent/student kickball party will take place after the 5th grade walk. Don’t forget to go “all out” with your kickball outfits. Bring your TCS/Family spirit!

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

The tomb is still empty and Jesus has still won the great victory over death! As we come out of Easter Sunday, don’t let the resurrection be a truth that is celebrated only once a year. As the Apostle Paul reminds us in I Corinthians 15, the resurrection of Jesus is our great hope and the foundation of our faith. He lives, and because of that, we can face tomorrow, and every day, knowing that He is ruling and reigning forever. Amen! Come Lord, Jesus!

HOW ARE WE DOING?

Let me know how our team is doing in keeping you informed about your child’s education this year. If you are lacking communication regarding one of your child’s classes, please let me know so I can help! adam.vinson@tcslions.org.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson spoke to our students on I Thessalonians 4:13-18 which contains the upcoming week’s memory verses for our students. Pointing our students to the hope found in Jesus’ resurrection and certain return, Mr. Vinson encouraged our students to see that when Jesus comes, we will enjoy REUNION with loved ones who have passed away, our own RESURRECTION when our bodies are radically transformed to a state that is free from sin and death, and we will REMAIN with Jesus forever at that time. As believers, we will undoubtedly have our lives impacted by death, but as Christians, we grieve with hope because our Savior lives!

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Don’t forget we have a short week coming up with our Remote Learning Day on Friday, March 17. All remote learning assignments should be turned in when we return to the classroom on Monday, March 20. Also, this is the final week of Q3, so help encourage your child to finish strong over these final few days. The actual grading period will end on Wednesday, March 15, and report cards will be made available on Monday, March 27. Keep reminding your child of the sowing/reaping principle found in Galatians 6:9! Don’t give up!

HOW ARE WE DOING?

Let me know how our team is doing in keeping you informed about your child’s education this year. If you are lacking communication regarding one of your child’s classes, please let me know so I can help! adam.vinson@tcslions.org.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson spoke to our students from Psalm 119:9-11 (this week’s memory verse) and emphasized the importance of memorizing Scripture, not for the purpose of passing a quiz, but instead for the purpose of fighting sin and obeying God. The phrase “what we know will determine how we go” was used to reinforce the biblical idea that what we know about God (His character, His promises, etc.) will help determine how we go throughout each day. By memorizing the Bible, the Holy Spirit will help us recall important truths to fight through temptation and navigate challenging circumstances as they come. May our kids embrace a love for God’s Word by memorizing it well!

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Don’t forget to complete your re-enrollment plans if you haven’t done so already. And feel free to reach out to me if you have any specific questions for next year. Remember, we want every child to THRIVE next year, so let us know if we can help in any way to ensure that goal is accomplished for your child. Have a wonderful Winter Break!

HOW ARE WE DOING?

Let me know how our team is doing in keeping you informed about your child’s education this year. If you are lacking communication regarding one of your child’s classes, please let me know so I can help! adam.vinson@tcslions.org.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson introduced the G.R.A.C.E. concept to our upper elementary students by showing God’s good design for our differences in G-ender, R-esources, A-bilities, C-olor, and E-thnicity. While discussing our many differences, Mr. Vinson also emphasized that we are the same in the most important areas. Specifically, we share the same VALUE as image-bearers of God who come from the same ORIGIN (Adam and Eve) and are given the same PURPOSE (glorifying God) for our specific lives. In addition, Galatians 3 was used to show that we are all SAVED and placed in Christ the same way. Just like a stained-glass window that is made up of many varying colors to display beauty in different shades, we image God in beautiful ways through our differences. But because we are the same in the most important ways, we have a great responsibility to treat each other with kindness, respect, and love in spite of our differences.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Re-enrollment season is here, and we are already getting excited about what the LORD has in store for 2023-2024. I know many of you are thinking through the best plans for your child for next school year, and I just want to make sure you know I’m available to answer any questions or discuss any concerns you may have. Our goal is to ensure every student in our program is thriving year after year, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you would like to talk about how we can ensure this goal is accomplished for your child next year as you make re-enrollment decisions. We are already seeing an incredible response to re-enrollment and anticipate a lot of interest from new families as well, so don’t delay if setting up a time to talk with me would be helpful.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Dr. Anthony shared his vision for our school during chapel by highlighting the people we know populate Heaven from Rev. 7. Just as Heaven will have people of different color skin, different cultures, and different backgrounds, we too desire to be a school that looks like Heaven. But not only do we want to look like Heaven, we want to act like Heaven too. Dr. Anthony reminded our students that by loving our neighbor as ourselves and by being known for our love towards each other, together we can build a school that images God well.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH FOCUS FOR THE WEEK

In 4th grade our students will be learning about Raye Montague by reading the book The Girl with a Mind for Math. Check out the excerpt from the book below.

  • After touring a German submarine in the early 1940s, young Raye set her sights on becoming an engineer. Little did she know sexism and racial inequality would challenge that dream every step of the way, even keeping her greatest career accomplishment a secret for decades. Through it all, the gifted mathematician persisted―finally gaining her well-deserved title in history: a pioneer who changed the course of ship design forever.

In addition, our 4th graders will continue working on their MLK prompt through February 10.

In 5th grade our students will be researching various African-American inventors, engineers, and scientists while producing BLOOM balls to display in the hallways to show off their hard work.
