Endurance is not simply a test of physical stamina, but a testament of our inner strength rooted in faith. Our strength is renewed when we hope in the Lord. Like eagles, we rise above challenges. Endurance isn't about quick victories but steady progress, trusting in God's strength. Let's fix our eyes on Him and persevere, knowing our endurance leads to eternal glory. Help us to trust in His sustaining power and keep pressing forward until the end.

National Day of Prayer highlights

On Thursday, kindergarten through 12th grade students joined together in the stadium to pray during our schoolwide observance of the National Day of Prayer! It was a powerful time of worship and prayer as we covered the field with students and teachers. The worship team began the program, then Dr. Mark Anthony led in a time of prayer followed by Kimmy Jones who shared thoughts and introduced the students from elementary - high school who would read scriptures that coincided with different areas of the prayer focus. Ryan Tipton closed us out in prayer followed by a final song from the worship team. As we sang the moving song “Same God” we were reminded of God’s faithfulness through the ages: The same God of Jacob is the God of all of us in 2024! He “heard his children then” and He “hears his children now”!

End of Course Assessments (Exam) Week Schedule

It is hard to believe we are only four weeks away from the end of the school year! As we move toward the finish line, here are some details to help you in your planning as we wrap up!

It is important to note that our building will be open Monday - Thursday from 7:30-3:30.

On Wednesday 5/22-Friday 5/24, students can be picked up after their exams at 12:15. Since the building will remain open until 3:30, students may wait in a designated area until they are picked up.  On Friday, the building will close at 12:30 so that teachers may finalize grades and wrap up the school year, so please make plans to pick up your student by 12:30 on this day.

Since there will be no lunch provided due to our modified schedule for exam week, our meal option will be a breakfast buffet each morning beginning at 8:15 and ending at 8:50.

Below is the schedule for the 9th-11th graders final week. Exams are highlighted in yellow, and note that period 1 exam is on Tuesday.

Service hours

We know that many of our students attended the GO Week opportunities and have already satisfied their service hour requirements for this school year. However, any students who did not participate in GO Week, should submit the HS Community Service Hour Form to their Bible teacher on or before Monday, May 13th for all seniors and Monday, May 20th for 9-11th grades. Bible teachers will be assigning a 10 point grade for this information. Please note that the service hours are cumulative and tracked on the student transcript as it is required as a part of the graduation requirements from TCS.

REDO deadline

Redo’s for all classes will be due on or before May 10th.  Please follow the directions for each class on how to request and submit the redo assignment.

CHALLENGES FROM Chapel

This past Wednesday at chapel was our first of two weeks of “Senior Moments” where we have the opportunity to hear from members of our senior class as they prepare to graduate very soon. We were blessed to have ten seniors share with us in a panel interview format. Each senior shared a spiritual takeaway, discussing what God has been doing in their lives this year or over the past several years, and each of them included a passage from God’s word. In addition to their spiritual takeaways, each senior also shared a takeaway from their time at TCS. Many of them have attended TCS since elementary school, so it was very meaningful to hear them discuss the impact that TCS has made in their lives. Many thanks to Emelia McBurnett, Caroline McPherson, Josh Savoy, Austin Cannon, Sara Beth Odom, Brady Peterson, Cam Matthews, Aubree Settle, Nathan Huff, and Emily Harris for sharing so wonderfully with us. Their messages were so faith-filled, based in scripture, and inspiring. We’re so grateful for their time here at TCS and we know God has incredible plans in store for their futures. We’re excited to hear from more members of our senior class next week as our celebration of the Class of 2024 continues.

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS STILL AVAILABLE

If  you are planning on attending college this fall, it is not too late to apply for scholarships. Many scholarships have their deadlines in the spring and summer months. For example, check out THIS LIST of scholarships and their application deadlines at StudentScholarships.com.

This is just one of many online database platforms that you can search to find money for college. We’ve compiled a list of other searchable databases where you can find money for college. You can find that information on the following document: Paying for College - Scholarship Information

JERRY FLURY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

FOR TRADE SCHOOL CAREERS

Jerry Flurry, founder of Clayton Appliances, believed teaching young people how to work with machines would provide a lifetime of opportunities. Mr. Flury’s family continues his passion for helping young men and women attend and succeed at an accredited trade school by providing a $2,500 scholarship to TCS students. The Jerry Flury Memorial Scholarship is open to current seniors who are in good academic standing at TCS, regardless of GPA, who will be attending trade school this fall.

The deadline for applying for this scholarship is Friday, May 3rd. For more information, click HERE.

SAT Spring Test Dates

There is one final test date available for the spring administration of the SAT. The June test date will be the last one until this fall. Most colleges, including those that are test optional, consider SAT scores when making admission and placement decisions, and for certain scholarships. Your SAT score is a proven way to show what you’ve learned and stand out on applications.

You can find a test center near youto register. These seats will fill up, so don’t delay in registering in order to get the date that you would like. This mostly applies to juniors in preparation for the college admissions season in the fall.
