A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON
We are looking forward to an exciting week with several fun events taking place! To coincide with our IOWA testing, we will be having Field Day and Movie Day to give our students some relaxing time together each afternoon. We are also anticipating an exciting Quarter 4. Only 9 weeks until summer break! Encourage your child to seize the opportunity to do their very best to finish out the school year!
LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL
Mr. Settle spoke from Proverbs 27:17, continuing our series on “Wisdom from Proverbs” by emphasizing the need we have to choose wisely when it comes to our friendships due to the impact they often leave upon our life.
MARCH MEMORY VERSE: MATTHEW 28:18-20 (ESV)
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
LIONS OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to the following students that were nominated by their teachers for making good choices or setting a good example recently.
6th Grade = Daisy Hill
7th Grade = Quinn Pettersson
8th Grade = TJ Timpson
HABITUDES MOMENT
Ask your child about the new leadership images being introduced in Habitudes this month.
6th Grade:
Emotional Fuel: Our future is shaped by those closest to us.
Lesson Summary - A leader’s future is shaped by the people closest to him or her. A leader’s personal network is his emotional fuel: his models, heroes, mentors, inner circle, and accountability partners.
7th & 8th Grade:
The Velvet Covered Brick: Be soft with people and firm with values.
Lesson Summary - Good leaders possess both strength and sensitivity. They are tough and tender. They are soft on the outside (relational), but firm as a brick on the inside (principle-centered). Because they are emotionally secure, they’re able to handle confrontation, criticism and conflict in a healthy way.
FEBRUARY FRENZY DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT
Congratulations to the remaining teams who won their first round matches in our tournament last week!
Pink Thunder defeated Bulldozing Bulldogs
Krusty Krab Pizza defeated The Officials
CheezeWeezers defeated Duck Dynasty
Cotton Candies defeated The Underdogs
Cookies-n-Cream defeated The Officials (losers bracket)
We are looking forward to Round 2 this upcoming week!
UPCOMING SPECIAL DAYS/EVENTS
Wednesday, March 17 - St. Patrick’s Day or “Green and Jeans” - students may wear jeans with green shirts.
EXTENDED SPRING BREAK APRIL 1 - APRIL 11
Spring break is just around the corner and this year will have a little extra time off! Here is what it will look like:
Good Friday falls on Friday April 2 which was already a scheduled day off from school. We are adding in Thursday April 1 as a day off from school. Please note that we will continue to have any previously scheduled athletic events on those days.
IOWA STANDARDIZED TESTING
We will be testing on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Results for the tests will be made available at the end of school year with your child’s final report card. Rest assured that this is a stress free testing environment. The test results will provide feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of our students and helps us target areas for curriculum improvement. I encourage you to ensure your child receives a good night’s rest and eats a healthy breakfast. Please be on time as testing will begin promptly at 8:00am. Students who arrive after testing has begun will need to wait until there is a break before entering the classroom to test.
FIELD DAY AND MOVIE DAY
To coincide with our IOWA testing dates, middle school students will participate in Field Day in the afternoon on Monday, March 15 and will be watching a movie in classrooms in the afternoon on Tuesday, March 16 (movie TBD).

SPRING PICTURE DAY
Middle schoolers (6th-8th) will have their spring pictures taken on Thursday, March 25. Appropriate spring attire may be worn. Questions? Please email Tiffany McBurnett (tiffany.mcburnett@tcslions.org).
