Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy Build Food Relief Boxes

Our Chick fil-A Leader Academy made up of twenty-four junior and senior TCS students visited Midwest Food Bank in Peachtree City recently. During their time there, they served together by preparing food relief boxes for neighboring states recovering from storm damage. Mr. JP Weaver, Chick-fil-A Leader Academy staff liaison, shares, “Our goal with Chick fil-A Leader Academy is to serve and inspire others while learning to become wise leaders at a young age.” The Bible tells us ‘Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, on faithful servants of God’s grace in various forms.’ 1 Peter 4:10
Our students helped support a 6-week project to build 920 boxes of food relief. These efforts will assist in distributing to families in the community of Southeast Kentucky. While at the Food Bank, they learned more about the inner workings of how they acquire and distribute food. Midwest Food Bank serves hundreds of local agencies and non-profits right here in Georgia. All of the food they receive is free of charge and they give it all away free of charge. Former Midwest Food Bank Executive Director Wil Garner often shared with volunteers, “There is not a food shortage problem in our country, there is a food distribution problem.” With only a handful of staff members, they rely 100% on volunteers to sort and distribute food each week as the shelves shrink and swell with healthy food and beverages.
