A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON
We are looking forward to an exciting week with several fun events taking place! To coincide with our IOWA testing, we will be having Field Day and Movie Day to give our students some relaxing time together each afternoon. We are also anticipating an exciting Quarter 4. Only 9 weeks until summer break! Encourage your child to seize the opportunity to do their very best to finish out the school year!
LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL
Mr. Higgins spoke from Proverbs 20:17, continuing our series on “Wisdom from Proverbs” by discussing the need we have to take responsibility for our mistakes and actions. He used the story of Adam and Eve as well to remind us not to play the “blame game” when we know we are at fault for our poor choices.
MARCH MEMORY VERSE: MATTHEW 28:18-20 (ESV)
FAnd Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
LIONS OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to the following students that were nominated by their teachers for making good choices or setting a good example recently.
4th Grade = Sophia Fader
5th Grade = Kaleb Simmons
UPCOMING SPECIAL DAYS/EVENTS
Wednesday, March 17 - St. Patrick’s Day or “Green and Jeans” - students may wear jeans with green shirts.
EXTENDED SPRING BREAK APRIL 1 - APRIL 11
Spring break is just around the corner and this year will have a little extra time off! Here is what it will look like:
Good Friday falls on Friday April 2 which was already a scheduled day off from school. We are adding in Thursday April 1 as a day off from school. Please note that we will continue to have any previously scheduled athletic events on those days.
IOWA STANDARDIZED TESTING
We will be testing on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Results for the tests will be made available at the end of school year with your child’s final report card. Rest assured that this is a stress free testing environment. The test results will provide feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of our students and helps us target areas for curriculum improvement. I encourage you to ensure your child receives a good night’s rest and eats a healthy breakfast. Please be on time as testing will begin promptly at 8:00am. Students who arrive after testing has begun will need to wait until there is a break before entering the classroom to test.
FIELD DAY AND MOVIE DAY
To coincide with our IOWA testing dates, upper elementary school students will participate in Field Day in the afternoon on Monday, March 15 and will be watching a movie in classrooms in the afternoon on Tuesday, March 16 (movie TBD).
SPRING PICTURE DAY
Upper elementary students (4th-5th) will have their spring pictures taken on Wednesday, March 24. Appropriate spring attire may be worn. Questions? Please email Tiffany McBurnett (tiffany.mcburnett@tcslions.org)
