The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

Welcome back! I hope your family enjoyed a wonderful Winter Break.

On Friday, March 1st we will be implementing a new arrival procedure for our 1st-3rd grade students.

As they enter the building during morning arrival, all 1st-3rd grade students who arrive at 7:30am or after will go straight to their classrooms, instead of going to the cafeteria. This new procedure will allow our students additional time to settle in and be prepared for class to begin at 8:00am. 1st - 3rd grade students arriving before 7:30am will continue to go to the cafeteria until 7:30am when they will be dismissed to their classrooms.

We will discuss this new arrival procedure with our students this week so they are prepared but also appreciate your support in reminding them as well. Have a great week!

Last Week in Chapel

We had a great time in Chapel this week as Mrs. Moore continued with a lesson in our series titled, The Rock. In this lesson, we learned about the attitudes and actions of Peter that served as signs that he was about to make a big mistake and sin by denying Jesus three times. We need to pay attention to attitudes and signs in our own lives that may lead to sin. If we trust in God, ask Him for help, and pray, He can help us avoid sin.

Whatchagaddaknow: “I Will Watch For The Signs!

Power Verse: “Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.” Mark 14:38

Last Week in Chapel

Mrs. Randolph continued our series about the life of Peter. In this lesson, we learned that followers of Jesus have to be willing to do what God wants, not what they want. When Jesus asked the disciples, “Who do people say that I am?”, Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” We learned that we each have to choose for ourselves - “Is Jesus MY Lord?”.

Main Focus: We must obey Jesus, no matter the cost.

Power Verse: ….”If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me….” Mark 8:34

Whatchagaddaknow: If I want to follow Jesus, I must obey.

Last Week in Chapel

Last week we had a special guest teach our Lower School chapel. Pastor Ben, who is the youth pastor at Trinity Church and happens to be married to Pastor Kami, continued our series on Peter and taught us how important it is to keep our eyes on Jesus no matter what storms may be happening around us.

Mrs. Burnett’s class, along with Kevin & Riley, led our chapel in worship. They also assisted in telling our Bible story of Peter walking on the water toward Jesus. As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus he was fine, but as soon as he focused on the waves around him he began to sink.

Last Week in Chapel

Last week in Chapel, Mrs. Randolph completed our series, “Christmas Gifts” with a final lesson on the gift of peace. In this lesson, we learned that Jesus offers peace in troubled times. We focused on these three points:

  • The angels announced “Peace on Earth.”

  • “Peace” does not mean that everything is perfect.

  • We can have peace because God is with us.

Whatchagaddaknow: God Will Give You Peace Within, He’ll Be With You ‘Till The End!

Last Week in Chapel

Last week Pastor Kami reminded us of the BEST Christmas gift we’ve ever been given - the gift of a Savior! Our dear friends Kevin and Riley led us in worship and several 3rd graders helped tell our Bible story. We learned that God loved us enough to give His Son. Jesus loved us enough to leave heaven. And Jesus loved us enough to come as a baby. It is our prayer that this Christmas in the midst of all of the buying, wrapping, and giving of gifts, we remember that we’ve already received the perfect gift - Jesus!

Last Week in chapel

We had a great time in Chapel last week as Mrs. Moore taught our lesson on Giving Thanks! In last week’s lesson, the students learned about having an attitude of gratitude and being thankful for what we have been blessed with. While reading the story of the Ten Lepers found in Luke 17:12-19, we discussed the importance of thanking God for everything that He has done and will continue to do.

Whatchagaddaknow: “I Will be Thankful Every Single Day!”

Power Verse: “Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness.” 1 Chronicles 16:8

Upcoming Benchmark Assessments (1st-3rd grades)

All 1st - 3rd grade students will complete a mid-year benchmark assessment when we return from Thanksgiving break. The benchmark assessment enables the school to monitor student progress throughout this academic year. These assessments are not graded but provide valuable insight to our teachers as they plan for the remainder of this school year.

Testing dates are as follows:

November 30th: ELA Benchmark Assessment

December 1st: Math Benchmark Assessment

We need your assistance in the following ways:

1. Minimize stress - Encourage your child to try their very best, but not to feel anxious about the test. This assessment is simply an opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned so far this year!

2. Attendance - It is important for students to be present and arrive at school on time for these testing dates. Students will begin testing promptly at 8:30am both mornings.

3. Rest and Routine - Please be sure students receive plenty of rest each night and eat a healthy breakfast each morning.

We are excited to review each student's academic progress and celebrate their success!

The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

We had a wonderful time of praise and worship in our Chapel service last week. Each third grade class was given the opportunity to lead our Lower School students in worship. It was such a special time together. I am grateful that our Lower School students have a heart for worship. Glory to God!

Lion Leadership Program

Lion Leadership award winners Mrs. William’s 2nd grade class

We have implemented a Lion Leadership Program within our Lower School to encourage and foster Christ-like leadership qualities within our students. Our goal is to recognize students for displaying leadership qualities and for setting an example for others to follow. Throughout the school year, our first-third grade students will participate in fun challenges. The winning class will receive the “Lion Leadership” award to proudly display in their classroom until the next competition begins.

Recently, our students participated in their first challenge! The goal of this challenge was to earn the highest number of “Hallway Hoorays”. Each “Hallway Hooray” represented a time that a faculty member recognized a class for following our hallway procedures. All of our students did an amazing job! I announced the winning class in Chapel last week.

Congratulations to Mrs. Williams’ 2nd grade class for setting an example while walking our halls and winning the “Lion Leadership” award!

Items may be sent in with your student and given to their classroom teacher. We appreciate your willingness to give!

Last Week in Chapel

Last Week in Chapel

Last week in chapel we finished our 6 week series called “Blessed”! Pastor Kami taught about the gift of the Holy Spirit and all that He blesses us with as we looked at Acts chapters 1-2. We learned that the Holy Spirit blesses us with comfort, peace, guidance, and power to live our lives with boldness for Jesus. Four students from Mrs. Jaroszewski’s class did a beautiful job of leading us in worship.

Power Verse: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” Acts 1:8

Whatchagaddaknow: “The Holy Spirit Is a Special Gift!”

Last Week in Chapel

Last Week in Chapel

We had a great time continuing our "Blessed" series in chapel last week! Mrs. Duncan taught about the importance of prayer and the blessings we receive as we wait on the Lord's answer.  Prayer is a very important part of following Jesus! We can be confident He cares about every aspect of our lives, hears every prayer, and will acknowledge every request according to His will. Students learned whether it be yes, no, or wait, we can always trust His answer because our God is good!

Power Verse: "Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you."  Matthew 7:7

Whatchgaddaknow: "God Will Answer When I Pray!"

We had a great time in Chapel this week as Mrs. Moore continued our “Blessed” series! This series is all about how God has blessed us in so many ways! In last week’s lesson, the students learned about one of the most important blessings that God has given us, salvation! We talked about how Jesus died on the cross for our sins and that we can be saved from our sin if we believe in Him and make Him Lord of our life.

Power Verse: "If I openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

Last Week in Chapel

Mrs. Randolph continued teaching our series, “Blessed”. Through the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego our students learned that God has blessed us with total protection. We learned that no matter what we are facing, we do not have to become overwhelmed or worried because 1) God is in control, 2) God is bigger than the enemy, and 3) God can protect you.

Whatchagaddaknow: God Will Protect Me, So I Trust In Him!

Power Verse: “But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:3

Last Week in Chapel

We had a great time in chapel last week continuing our new series called “Blessed". Pastor Kami taught about how we are blessed because we serve a God who is able to heal us. Several students helped teach the Bible story from Mark 7 when Jesus healed a deaf and mute man.

Our Whatchagaddaknow was: “God has the power to heal the sick!”

If you’d like to review this with your children or use it as part of your family devotions, here is the link to do so: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hCXejM-U5f6GrI6rIEZoCWdqwz2EGeqD/view?usp=sharing
