Character Education Class 1st-3rd Grade

Character Ed is a new Special for our 1st-3rd grade students. This class is taught by our Lower School Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Charlotte Hurt. We are excited to offer a class that specifically focuses on the development of Christian character, while emphasizing leadership principles. Each 1st-3rd grade student will take this class for one semester this year. Mrs. Hurt will be focusing on the Fruits of the Spirit and encouraging our students to develop these attributes. The month of August focused on the attribute of love. In September, the focus will be on joy.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

Message from Mrs. Hurt: We are focusing on the Fruits of the Spirit in Character Ed and this month we will be learning about Joy! Joy is described as "Peace Dancing". The Holy Spirit gives joy by causing us to see the beauty of Jesus Christ in His Word and His works. Each week in September students will participate in activities to help them recognize God's beautiful gift of joy.

Elementary and Middle School House System

At Trinity Christian School, we implement a House system within our middle and elementary schools to build opportunities for unity, leadership and positive peer-pressure. We enjoyed our first week of competition with a dress up day representing House colors. You can keep up-to-date on the competition and learn more about the House system at www.tcshouses.weebly.com.

Distance Learning

We are working diligently to provide a safe and healthy environment for your child. Research shows that it is essential for young learners to be on campus. While this is ideal, it may not be possible or desirable for your family. We value you and desire to offer assistance during these trying times. Dr. Anthony is releasing an updated reopening plan. Please review these new guidelines. If you desire for your child to participate in distance learning, please send me an email directly.

Need Flexibility with Distance Learning?

We realize that many parents are working during the day or that some students may not have adjusted easily to this new concept of distance learning. I encourage you to contact your child’s teacher. Your child’s teacher can help you navigate and prioritize assignments. They can adjust the workload, if necessary, and be flexible to your families’ individual needs.

Specials Classes

Specials classes are optional. Teachers are creating fun lessons to enhance student learning and to provide fun activities for our students to do. Families can choose to opt out of all of them or just one of them. I encourage you to do whatever works best for your family.

  • Monday: PE (includes activities to cover multiple days)

  • Tuesday: Art

  • Wednesday: STEAM or STEM

  • Thursday: Music

  • Friday: Spanish, Cultural Studies, Creative Drama

Helpful Tips

  • Be sure to read the email from your child's teacher, sent each evening by 7:00 pm, for details regarding the next day's lesson.

  • It is helpful to print the email as a checklist for your child.

  • Young children thrive on a routine. I encourage you to keep a routine as much as possible and to establish and follow the same procedures each day.

  • If you cannot make a scheduled Zoom session, that is okay. Teachers are recording the sessions and your child can view it at a more convenient time.

  • Reach out to your child's teacher for any questions or concerns. They are happy to help in any way.

  • If your child is feeling overwhelmed, allow him/her to take a break. We are offering lots of grace for our youngest learners as they adjust to distance learning.

Here are a few reminders:

  • Please remember to look for an email from your child's teacher each evening by 7:00 p.m. for the next day's lesson.

  • Teachers will be available from 8:30-3:30 Monday-Friday. Virtual office hours, with immediate response time, will be from 9:00-11:00 and 1:00-4:00. Teachers will be available to answer your emails during the evenings as well.

  • Teachers are utilizing ClassDojo, ClassTag, Loom, Zoom, Google Meet, and other applications to connect with you and your child during this time through videos and live chat.

  • We will continue to offer Specials classes throughout remote learning. You will find this information in the daily email provided by your child's teacher. Specials are not required, but recommended for your child’s growth and development. We are encouraging your child to participate in PE everyday to promote exercise and wellness
