“There is nothing like a comeback.” Coach Katey Lynch said it best and is quoted in the Newnan Times Herald after their win against LaGrange earlier this week, This team of student athletes are growing and learning together what success on the field looks like and will absolutely be a team to watch in the coming years.

Trinity Runner Christian McMurry was born to run.

TRINITY RUNNER CHRISTIAN MCMURRY WAS BORN TO RUN.

Trinity Cross Country runner Christian McMurry is an inspiring combination of humility and determination. We are blessed to have a front row seat to the incredible story that God is writing in his life. He is a Freshman at Trinity and the oldest born son in a family of 7. When he was in middle school, Christian’s Dad Kevin encouraged him to join him in running the “Race for Orphans” 5k’s. Christian tried it and found that he enjoyed running and did quite well at it. He is a 3rd generation runner as his Dad and his Dad’s Dad both enjoy running as well. Christian joined the TCS Cross Country team in Middle School and worked his way up to 10th in the State and was a crucial part of his team winning 1st in State. He then went on to compete in TCS Track & Field in the Spring.

In 2019, Christian’s family felt the calling to sell everything they owned and move to Nepal with Justice Ventures International to share the love of Jesus . They landed in Nepal in January of 2020 and settled in nicely to their home away from home. They made friends in their village, attended school, and started getting acclimated to living in this new place. The view of the beautiful Himalayan Mountains and Mount Everest was all around them, though the village they lived in desperate need of Jesus.

A couple of months after his family moved, Covid struck and the whole world changed. The school he and his siblings attended went to virtual learning and Christian was looking for an outlet so he would run. Some mornings he would wake up and run 5 miles, come home to do school work, and then later in the day go out and run some more. Nepal sits about 6,000 feet above sea level and each day his running experience would include high elevation, lots of hills, dodging motorbikes, dilapidated buildings, stinky sewage, and street dogs. He asked his parents for a Garmin watch so he could track his running. His parents gave him the incentive that if he stuck with this new found love of running and ran 300 miles, they would buy him the running watch. It took him just a few months to reach his goal and he hasn’t stopped running since.

During his time in Nepal, Christian, his Dad, and his twin sisters spent 10 days hiking up to Everest Base Camp 18,000 feet above sea level. Along the way, they stayed in tea houses that were basic common rooms to eat with small sleeping quarters off of it. They saw yak’s carrying supplies up to the mountain and many hiking groups, though none of the groups had kids as young as he and his friend were. It was the ultimate test of endurance for this 13 year old but his lungs and legs were conditioned from all of his running.

After the adventurous 10 day hike up to Base camp, they took a helicopter back down to Lukla airport and then returned back to their colony with memories for a lifetime. Lukla Airport happens to be known as the worlds most dangerous airport because of the teeny tiny airplane, a really short runway, and a 9,000 foot drop off at the end of the run way. It’s worth looking up and watching a video about to understand how brave Christian and his sisters really were.

Since returning to the US, Christian has continued his training and is one to watch. Over the summer he completed the Peachtree Road Race and placed in the top 1000 runners. This is also an accomplishment that his Granddad achieved back in 2000. Though Christian isn’t the type to brag about himself, we sure can. His sights are set on running at Baylor University one day and we believe God will use his determination and hard work to open doors for him in the years ahead.

TCS Cross Country Coach Ryan Tipton shares that “Christian is an encourager that practices affirmation of his teammates as much as he practices endurance during our long runs.  Christian helps build our team culture in the small things, being a faithful teammate when no one is looking.  In my opinion, Christian is as good at shunning the limelight as he is in persevering through our early morning speed workouts, which are quite difficult.  Christian will be uncomfortable with such praise, which only makes me appreciate him all the more! Trinity Siblings help give teens a "Fresh Start"

TRINITY SIBLINGS HELP GIVE TEENS A "FRESH START"

Dr. Anthony refers often to the golden triangle of parents, churches, and schools working together to shape Christlike disciples. Partnering with our Trinity families in this way helps to strengthen the foundation for our children’s growth and development.

Last Christmas Trinity students Caroline and Nolan McPherson were talking about how exciting it was to get the “good stuff” in their stockings, not just the regular razors but the big nice ones, the really good AXE deodorants and shaving creams, and the fun body Bath & Body Works sprays and gels. Caroline said it makes getting up so much more exciting! It was shortly after that when this dynamic brother and sister team learned that teenagers in middle school and high school are the most under-served group. Frequently folks hear about the needs of teens but don’t know what to get them and for this reason they seem not to get as much attention as little kids.

Caroline and Nolan were inspired to be the change and to help make kids in this age group feel special and get a fresh start. They chose the name “Fresh Start” as a reminder that every morning it’s a fresh start no matter what the day before may have brought. They put together special bags for teen girls and boys full of high dollar items and bring them to I-58 (Isaiah) Mission in Senioa led by Karma Novak. Caroline and Nolan’s Mom, Nancy, shares that “I-58 is a little effort by a lot of people making a big difference.”

Last year they made 60 bags and this year 31 girls and 20 boys were blessed by their efforts. Two times a year they bless teens with “Fresh Start” bags at Back to School and Christmas time. Caroline and Nolan work together and take their roles very seriously. They collect coupons and generous donations to support their efforts. They search to find the best deals to maximize their money donated. They also have a box on their front porch where folks can drop off items or coupons. Nolan likes to figure out the best brands and scents to get and Caroline likes to make each bag look fun and exciting for each kiddo. They collect year round and keep a stock pile on hand at their house.

Nancy McPherson shared that every time they do a drop off of “Fresh Start” bags, her children receive notes telling them how grateful and excited they are to receive treat bags with such high dollar items. As word spreads, many non-profits in the area have reached out to them about bringing their bags to their locations for teens in need. These two kiddos are making quite an impact in our community and we couldn’t wait to share how God is using them. We are proud of you both and look forward to seeing what more He has in store for your ministry this coming Christmas.

Trinity Marching Lions are on the move!

TRINITY MARCHING LIONS ARE ON THE MOVE!

It has always been a vision for Tim Hurt, our Performing Arts Director, to have a musical component to Friday Night Lights here at Trinity. Head of School Dr. Mark Anthony shares, “TCS is committed to nurturing an environment where the arts can thrive. It is my prayer that our students will fully engage with our Performing Arts program.”

In January of 2019, the TCS Drum Corps was formed and composed of 10 Middle School students. Then in August of 2019, this group grew to 16 students and played for the Varsity Football home games. In 2020, we had our first Summer Band Camp and also created Middle School Drum Corps. The following year the Pep Band and Color Guard was added and they started traveling to all away Varsity football games as well.

A Rhythm section has been added this year and the team has more than tripled in size and includes our very first field show and marching formations complete with electric guitars. The half time performance appropriately named “Solid Rock” because Jesus is our foundation featured for the first time on Friday, August 19th at our 1st game of the season in Lions Stadium. Way to grow Lions!!

Stay tuned for more greatness from our Friday Night Lights performers as “TCS Band Night” will be on Friday, September 16th at our Homecoming football game against Riverdale where our parents, alumni, and student Pep Band will all perform together. We love to see how these musically gifted students share their God given talents with our school community!

On Thursday August 18th our Head of School Dr. Anthony led our Batting Cage Dedication and Prayer before the Varsity softball game where our Lady Lions beat the defending 4A State Champions Starr’s Mill team. Construction began on this great addition to our Athletics department back in the Fall of 2021 and was completed in early 2022. This great space was a result of a team effort by Chuck Beard with Green Owl Energy Solutions, Murf Staffins with Mid South Steel and Ralph & Summer Costley with SRC Ventures. We truly are grateful for all of their help in the construction of this cage. A very special thank you to Ansley Houston with Ungrounded Ideas for his generous donation towards this project that benefits all of our Middle School and High School Baseball and Softball teams. This is just another great example of our Lions Booster Club working hard to support all of our student athletes at TCS. It’s a great time to be a Lion!!

Our Lady Lions are off to a strong start of the season with 2 wins and looking forward to the next 4 games. Varsity Head Coach Katey Lynch shared “Super excited to watch our athletes compete this week. Our first Region game on Thursday opens up with Starrs Mill who are the defending 4A State Champions. Then we head to play East Coweta on Friday. We finish out our week with Dodge County and Lee County on Saturday at East Coweta. We are a very young team but I firmly believe to be the best, we have to play the best. We have prepared and I am super excited to see us compete against great competition this week!”

These Lady Lions would like to invite you and your families to come out and attend the Batting Cage Dedication at 5pm and their game against Starr’s Mill at 5:30pm this Thursday, August 18th at TCS. Let’s Go Lady Lions!!!

Trinity Alumni Kara Bragg Shines on and off the Stage!

TRINITY ALUMNI KARA BRAGG SHINES ON AND OFF THE STAGE!

If you asked Kara Bragg how excited she was to come to Trinity in the beginning, she may tell you the story about how her Mom told her the day of her MS orientation that she was transferring to a new school. As a middle schooler, it can be especially hard being the new student but Kara had a spirit of resilience and bloomed where she was planted. Kara’s Mom, Shannon Bragg, was blessed with an opportunity to join the Trinity High School staff and has been here ever since.

When Kara arrived at Trinity, she jumped right in and joined the Middle School basketball team and cheer squad. She also helped lead Chapel Services in High School and was very active in Performing Arts. In fact, she was in every musical from the time she started at Trinity up until graduation, even during the Covid year.

When asked what her favorite parts about Trinity were, she shared that all the opportunities she was given were such a blessing. She shared that the relationships with faculty who were strong in their Faith helped her navigate her teen years. She valued their mentoring and gained a deeper understanding during Discipleship groups. In fact, she is now involved with the Women’s Ministry in college. Several of our teachers have made a lasting impact on her life including Mrs. Val Adams who was always her cheerleader, Mrs. Cathy Settle who she shared lunch with every Tuesday for mentorship, and Mrs. Kelsi Adams who was always there for her.

During her time at Trinity, she was able to thrive having hands on experience in our Performing Arts program which prepared her for her College Theatre experience. Most recently she was blessed with the opportunity to assistant direct and manage the opera at college this past year. She filled her schedule with AP classes while at TCS and Anderson College accepted all 31 AP credits giving her the ability to enter college as a sophomore.

Kara shares some words of wisdom for our Lions:

• Be prayerful about what comes next and trust God.

• Be intentional about your decisions and the choices you make.

• Plug into extracurricular activities and make new friends.

• God will make it clear about your next steps.

• Be walking in His plans always.

We couldn’t be more excited for you Kara and about what the Lord has in store for you this coming year. Keep chasing your dreams on and off the stage and know that you have us all cheering you on!!

Lions 1st week of the school year!

LIONS 1ST WEEK OF THE SCHOOL YEAR!

What a wonderful 1st week of school it has been for our Lion Nation! We kicked off the week with the ROAR on Sunday evening and what a memorable one it was! From our New Family Welcome Session welcoming over 300 new students to Trinity and the magnificent double rainbow God placed over our field from end zone to end zone. What a celebration it was welcoming all of our families back to school!

What a joy it was to meet all these new families whom we have been praying for all summer.

Monday was “Meet My Teacher Day” where our hallways were filled with plenty of hugs and high fives. Our families were able to enjoy fellowship time and connect with their teachers while dropping off school supplies and making new friends.

Our TCS - GO Church location opened its doors to welcome over 200 Preschool and Kindergarten students on campus. This new space to grow and learn is a beautiful example of God’s provision. Our students have their very own space to eat lunch together as a grade while enjoying the new SAGE dining program, much larger classrooms, a dedicated Chapel for our Early Learners, a brand new playground, exciting Specials, and much more.

Time sure flies by when you’re having fun! Tuesday through Friday went by in a blink! Our kiddos learned all sorts of new things, tried new foods, learned new schedules and procedures, explored new classrooms and buildings, made new friends, and learned how much God truly loves them.

On our main campus, our students experienced Opening Day fun and daily welcome back assemblies, our new SAGE dining program, engaging Specials, the 1st ever Senior Chapel, and much more.

Trinity Soccer Camp

There was a bit of a chill in the air on Saturday morning as almost 100 campers came out to Lions Stadium for the 1st Soccer Camp of the school year. Our new Director of Soccer, Mike Townson, has big dreams for the Trinity Soccer program and couldn’t wait to host today’s camp. Soccer players from Kindergarten to 8th grade had the chance to work in small groups on dribbling, passing, shooting, and playing games encouraging teamwork and building confidence.

Coach Townson was joined by an experienced coaching staff as well as student athletes from our Varsity boys and girls teams. Coach Holly Savoy shared a devotion with families and every soccer player left with a brand new soccer ball. Though the majority of campers were Trinity students, several were from our community. What a wonderful outreach for our school and start to building a strong soccer program at TCS. It is a great time to be a Lion!!

School is back in session and our Fall sports are in full swing. Both our Varsity Football and Softball teams are off to a strong start and we couldn’t be more excited for what is to come. There are plenty of opportunities to cheer on all of our Fall sports teams in action including Archery, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Flag Football, Football, One Act, Fast-Pitch Softball, and Volleyball.

God’s provision is what comes to mind when we think about our new TCS - GO Church campus. What a beautiful story unfolding just a couple of miles down the road from TCS Main. The countless hours that have been spent by our incredible leadership team, our amazing teachers and aides, and world class local contractors to prepare such a beautiful space for our little Lions to learn and grow.

Last week’s dedication was held on Thursday, August 4th with the leadership team from Trinity, the Lower School staff, and the GO Church team. It was a wonderful celebration of what God has done and continues to do for our school. Thank you Lord for this gift and for the opportunity to grow our school for your kingdom!

This week the halls of TCS-GO Church will be filled with the sounds and sights of back to school excitement. As families walk through the newly renovated building during Meet My Teacher Day, they will get to experience the warmth and love from our Trinity staff in a new space that is bright, spacious, and engaging. Our teachers have prayed over and prepared for each and every one of our little Lions and are so excited to welcome each one of them. Welcome home Lions!!

Most days you will find Trinity Lions starting Quarterback Henry Brodnax on the field and in the weight room with his teammates when he’s not studying for school or serving with BETA Club, National Honor Society, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is committed to putting in the time and dedication necessary to help his Lions achieve greatness on the field once again.

Henry came to Trinity in 5th grade and was already familiar with TCS because his older sister, Sara, had come in her 5th grade year 4 years prior. Back then, Trinity didn’t yet offer 5th grade football and couldn’t wait until he was in the 6th grade to play school sports. He immediately joined both the football and baseball teams and has been a multi-sport athlete ever since. He shared that they are both his favorite sports but he has set his sights on playing baseball in college and hopes of attending Troy University next Fall.

Four year starting Lions Quarterback David Dallas is settling in as a Freshman at Georgia Southern and has been mentoring Henry since the 8th grade. Henry shared that Offensive Coordinator, Lance Duncan, and Quarterback Coach, Ryan Duncan have been instrumental to his success on the field as well. Henry’s favorite part about Trinity football is the love of each other. He is optimistic about the season and excited for the upcoming season.

“Our teammates will do anything for one another. We are truly brothers and no matter what grade our boys are in, everyone is equal and respected on the team.”

Henry embraces his role as a student leader at Trinity and wants our little Lions to know that “You don’t have to be the biggest, strongest, or most gifted one on the team. You just have to work hard at what you want and put the time and dedication in. To all the young athletes out there, don’t ever forget that you can do anything you put your mind to.”

We believe in you Henry and can’t wait to cheer on our Lions next Friday, August 5th at 7:30pm in a scrimmage in the Lion’s Den at TCS.

Trinity welcomes Executive Chef Justin Pop

We are excited to welcome Chef Justin Pop to Trinity and yes his last name is Pop, like popcorn. Chef Justin is our new Food Services Director and Executive Chef on campus with SAGE Dining. He is looking forward to serving our students and staff this upcoming school year and can’t wait to meet you and your family at the Taste of Sage at Welcome to the ROAR on Sunday, August 7th, from 6-8pm.

Chef Justin comes to us from Point University and has cooked at many local restaurants you may have visited including Senoia Coffee Shop & Mess Hall, Callaway Garden’s Discovery Cafe, and Canongate Golf Course. He graduated from Culinary School at Southern Crescent Technical College with his degree in Culinary Arts. 

This isn’t the first time he has been on our campus. Justin shared a funny story about when he was a Wide Receiver in high school at Crosspoint Christian, he remembers the time Crosspoint Christian played TCS in an 8 man game and they beat us by a lot. He laughed out loud when he said the next year they played Trinity and we had grown some, TCS beat Crosspoint Christian with ease.

Justin and his wife Mara have an 8 month old son, Owen, who keeps them very busy these days when he’s not preparing delicious food for our school community. He shared that they were a big part of his decision to come on board with SAGE Dining so that he could have evenings and weekends at home to spend with his family. We are so excited to welcome him to Lion Nation and look forward to A Taste of SAGE on Sunday, August 7th, from 6-8pm.

TCS Cheer Squads Win Big at UCA Cheer Camp!

This past week all 36 Trinity Cheerleaders loaded a bus and headed to Cheer Camp. Trinity Varsity Cheer has been attending UCA cheer camp for 6 years and JV squad has been attending for 3 years..

The UCA cheer camp was held at the Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange complete with stunting classes as well as an opportunity to learn a series of routines while competing with other schools.

We are so proud of their handwork and determination and how well they worked as a team to accomplish their camp goals. Trinity Varsity Squad won 1st place Superior in both events. The team was awarded the Leadership plaque for their leadership character as a team for the overall camp.. Our Junior Varsity Squad won 1st place Superior in both events as well! TCS Cheer brought home 4 1st place trophy’s in all and we couldn’t be more proud of our Lions!.

10-Year Trinity Alumnus Abigail Kimbell Still Impacting the Community

This past Spring, Trinity Alumnus Abigail Kimbell hosted a gathering at her home to celebrate the 10 year reunion for the graduating class of 2012. What a wonderful opportunity to connect with Abby and learn about where she is now and how Trinity helped prepare for life after TCS. Our school has grown quite a bit since she graduated, however It became obvious that the heartbeat of who we are as Trinity has not changed a bit.

Abby transferred into Trinity as a Freshman and became involved in extracurricular activities like Basketball and Performing Arts. She said the Fine Arts Director (Jeremiah Bartlett), saw potential in her and encouraged her to join and help lead worship. She made connections in both Fine Arts and Athletics who are still in her life today and they helped her become who she is today. She offered advice to our students and specifically to our rising Seniors to invest time, energy, and emotions into those people who you think will be in your life years from now. She smiled when she said “Find your core group of friends and love them well. Don’t underestimate the impact your High School friends can make on your future.”

She thanks Mrs. Val Adams for all of her compassion and support over the years as a mentor and friend. She also credits her Literature teacher, Mrs. Carly Schock, (whose husband Matt Schock served as our High School principal during her time at TCS) for going above and beyond to connect with her students. Abby said she appreciated the way Mrs. Schock pushed her out of her comfort zone when it came to her writing. She taught her about business writing and how to write in different voices which has proven helpful in her career. Abby said the impact she had on her life was tremendous.

During her time at TCS, Abby became best friends with fellow classmates Ruth Dennis and Jessica McElveen.  They even received the “Three Musketeers Award” as Seniors. Abby and Ruth are still very close today as are their husbands and children. Jessica was battling a rare form of cancer during her time at Trinity. Abby fondly remembers visiting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) with Jessica while she underwent chemo treatments and doctor visits. Their friendship was a blessing in so many ways. While Abby was with Jessica at CHOA, she met the Child Life Specialists who were helping in the cancer center. They provided emotional and mental health support for the pediatric patients going through cancer treatments. Abby shared that through that experience she felt God placing on her heart the desire to help others in some way.

Jessica went to be with the Lord soon after she graduated High School but her legacy lives on at Trinity. Mrs. Val Adams was instrumental in the creation of the Lions Award in honor of Jessica. The dictionary defines "lion hearted" as extraordinarily, courageous, and determined. Chris Hanson, then Senior Bible Teacher, presented the award to her at graduation. For her entire Trinity experience she fought cancer, yet she faced it with a courageous spirit in the face of severe adversity which was an inspiration to all. “Jessica was an inspiration to everyone around her. She always had a smile on her face and always had a positive attitude,” shared Matt Schock, former HS Principal. Those who knew Jessica will never forget the impact she made on those around her. In this spirit, this award is presented to the student whose life is also one that inspires others and reveals the true “heart of a Lion”, displaying excellent character, a humble attitude, a servant heart and a persevering spirit.

Abby went on to Georgia State and earned her Bachelors in Managerial Science. While she was in college, the Cancer Treatment Center of America opened up in her backyard where she came on staff as a Loyalty Specialist. During her time there, she ran the group called “Cancer Fighters” which helped encourage positive interactions for patients. She later attended UWG and received her MBA. Abby now serves as the Director of Client Engagement for Pathways Center and she said she has the best job ever! She advocates for her clients and creates therapies such as pet, art, etc. to help provide all the fun for patients. Mrs. Amy Simonton and our High School Art department regularly serve with Abby to create murals for patients at Pathways as well.

Trinity Christian 6th grader wins 2022 All Smiles Award

TRINITY CHRISTIAN 6TH GRADER WINS 2022 ALL SMILES AWARD

We are excited to share that Trinity Christian Middle School student Elle Jerger won the Mahaffey Orthodontics All Smiles Award for 2022. Elle was chosen by her peers for consistently going above and beyond to help make our school culture positive and healthy. This doesn’t come as a surprise to everyone who knows Elle. She shines bright for the Lord in all that she does and says.

Trinity Christian students Brooks Baldwin (4th grade), Colton Withrow (5th grade), Harper Douglas (7th grade), and Ben Sprague (8th grade) were also winners of the All Smiles Award in 2022. We celebrate and honor each of you for the example you set and impact you make in our school community. Keep up the good work kiddos and Let’s Go Lions!!
