A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON
ad the privilege of attending our recent strings and band concerts and was particularly impressed with our middle school students and all they have accomplished in their musical growth since August. I have the unique privilege of my office being located right next to the band room so I have a front row seat to hearing them grow and mature in the mastery of their musical selections all year long. Mr. Hurt is doing a wonderful job of overseeing our Performing Arts Department, and I’m so thankful for each of the teachers who are responsible for instructing these classes. May the LORD continue to use these students and their incredible gifts for His glory and honor!
LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL
Coach Settle continued our “Finish Strong” series by reminding us from Heb. 12:1-2 of the “great cloud of witnesses” who have helped pave the way for other believers by the example they have set in their faith. He challenged us to lay aside the things that would hinder us from finishing the school year strong and to keep our eyes looking forward to Christ.
MAY MEMORY VERSE: JAMES 1:2-3 (ESV)
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
LIONS OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to the following students that were nominated by their teachers for making good choices or setting a good example recently.
4th Grade = Melia Yarbrough
5th Grade = Hailey Beatenbough
ELEMENTARY TALENT SHOW
We are excited to celebrate the wide variety of God-given gifts represented in our student body at our Elementary Talent Show on Thursday, May 13th at 6:00 pm in the Student Center located in the Early Learning building.
“DRESS LIKE A PIRATE” DAY
To celebrate the upcoming elementary performance of Treasure Island on Saturday, May 15, all of the elementary school is invited to dress like a pirate on Friday, May 14. Students may also wear normal Friday spirit wear attire if they choose.
5TH GRADE WALK - “Aloha to Elementary”
All of our 5th grade parents are invited to join us on Wednesday, May 26 at 10 am (arrive by 9:45 am) - **NOTE: DATE CHANGE** - to celebrate our 5th graders completing their elementary journey and taking their first steps into middle school. This year’s theme is “Aloha (Farewell) Elementary” so we are encouraging 5th graders to come in their best beach/Hawaiian outfits - think boardshorts, t-shirts, floral button-ups, sunglasses, flip flops, etc (please no bathing suits). All 5th grade parents should line the walkway where students are typically dropped off and picked up each day (driveway parallel to the baseball field). Please bring signs, noisemakers, balloons, etc. to celebrate your child! We will conclude the walk with a special time of prayer over our 5th graders in the gym. Students may be checked out at the conclusion of the 5th grade walk. Teachers will be available so you can sign your child out. You WILL NOT have to go through the Main Office either upon your arrival or when departing with your child.
RISING 6TH GRADE INFORMATION MEETING
Rather than having an in-person meeting, I will be moving my yearly “Welcome to Middle School” meeting to a virtual format. More details to come, but I wanted to make sure all of our 5th grade families knew that information is coming regarding the transition to middle school. We are excited to welcome our 5th graders to middle school!
