Last Week in Chapel

Last week Pastor Kami finished off our chapel series on Psalm 23.  Our dear friends Riley & Kevin helped lead us in worship to the song, “Goodness of God." We saw the similarities between the story of King David and Mephibosheth and our own story of how God cares for us and invites us to join Him at His table and in His home in heaven. We learned the final verse of this beautiful psalm in which David wrote, “Surely Your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.” We were reminded that God shows His goodness and love to us every day (even on the bad days) and that His goodness and love NEVER run out!

Last Week in Chapel

Last week in Chapel Pastor Kami taught us how we are honored and blessed because we belong to the Lord. After hearing the Bible story of the prophet Samuel anointing David as the next king of Israel, we looked at Psalm 23:5, “You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.” We learned what our Bible verse meant line by line.

When we are in the midst of a battle with our enemy (satan) or going through a really hard time, we can cry out the Lord, our Good Shepherd, and He lets us know that He will fight for us. We learned how God honors us when we follow Him. He looks at us and says, “This is My son. This is My daughter. I have chosen him/her. I have a plan for them. They follow Me. They are precious to Me. I want everyone to know that I have set them apart for something special.” And lastly we talked about how God blesses us with an overflowing cup of His goodness and mercy. His blessings are not just once in a while, but continuous as we follow Him - like His peace, comfort, healing, joy, and His presence.

Next week we will finish this chapel series on the 23rd Psalm. Hopefully your son/daughter will be able to tell you what the whole chapter says and how Jesus is our Good Shepherd.

Last Week in Chapel

Last week in Chapel Pastor Kami taught verse 4 of Psalm 23, in which David wrote, “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me. Your rod and staff protect and comfort me.” We learned that going through dark valleys is a guaranteed part of life, but as the verse says - we walk THROUGH them. We don’t stay there. And as we are walking through, Jesus our Good Shepherd is with us.

Last Week in Chapel

Last week in Chapel, Pastor Kami continued the series “The Lord is My Shepherd” as she taught about Resting in God. We learned the second verse of Psalm 23 which says, “He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams.”

Through the story of Mary & Martha, we learned that there is only ONE place to go when we are feeling stressed. Our Good Shepherd leads us to a place of peace when we are stressed, and that peace is found in God’s presence.

Last week in Chapel Pastor Kami began a 6 week series called “The Lord is My Shepherd”, which focuses on who God is based on Psalm 23. Each week the kids will learn 1 verse from David’s famous psalm and the first verse says, “The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.” Pastor Kami told the parable from Luke 15 about the shepherd who left 99 sheep in order to go find the missing one. The 3 main points to the lesson were:

  1. God wants to be OUR shepherd

  2. When we follow God, He gives us ALL that we need

  3. We must CHOOSE to make God our shepherd

The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

We had a very special Chapel service this past week as our students were able to participate in some unique ways. For the past month, we have been discussing our “Family Farm'' series. Just as a farmer plants seeds to grow a beautiful harvest, so do we plant seeds in our families. Students have been learning that it is important to plant the “right” seeds. We specifically discussed the seeds of Time, Affirmation, Prayer, Honor, Obedience, Faith, Forgiveness, and Commitment.

Let me share with you the special ways our students contributed to our Chapel service. Eight third grade students participated in a panel discussion of ways they had planted one of the seeds in their families. I was so very proud as they each walked on the stage to tell their fellow students how they had specifically applied a spiritual truth to their daily lives. We also had a beautiful time of worship together led by our third grade students and also led by our kindergarten students in our early learning Chapel time. I am so proud of our students for their heart for the Lord and willingness to encourage other students in their faith.

Last Week in Chapel

Our students have enjoyed studying the “Family Farm” series! Last week we learned about planting seeds of Faith, Forgiveness, and Commitment in our families. Students were encouraged to put God first in every area of their lives (planting the seed of FAITH). Through studying the story of Jacob and Esau, we learned about  forgiving others (planting the seed of FORGIVENESS). Finally, we learned about the importance of being committed to our family even when they hurt our feelings or make us mad (planting the seed of COMMITMENT).

Power Verse: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33

  • Spending TIME with my family helps me know them better.

  • A family that PRAYS together, stays together.

I challenged our students to seek ways to plant the seed of time, affirmation, and prayer in their families." It should say "seeds".

I encouraged our students to do their part in planting the very best seeds in their families.

Last Week in Chapel

Last week in Chapel we finished our series called “Never Forget.” Over the last 7 weeks we have been learning about many important things that God wants us to remember. Pastor Kami taught that we must “Care for Others Like Jesus Would” and we memorized Psalm 145:9, which says, “The Lord is good to everyone. He shows compassion for all His creation.”

We looked at Matthew 20 when Jesus made time to heal 2 blind beggars. Aren’t you so thankful that Jesus always has time for us and sets the example for us in how to love and care for others? We were challenged to look around and see those who are feeling lonely or left out and to go out of our way to show them God’s love.

We are excited about a new tool that we will implemented for our Go Church Campus only which started the Monday after Thanksgiving!  It's called PickUp Patrol, and it will streamline our dismissal process for our Early Learning grades (PreK4 and Kindergarten).

Please watch for an introduction email regarding PickUp Patrol and open it right away to register.  You will be able to set and confirm your dismissal plan and get instructions on how to use the tool for when your student's dismissal plans change.

Last Week in Chapel

Last week in Chapel we learned about how Jesus can forgive any sin. Our friends Kevin & Riley led us in worship to “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High,” and Pastor Kami taught the Bible story of Jesus and His conversation with the 2 thieves while they were all on the cross. From 2 Peter 3:9 we learned that it is never too late to repent (not “re-paint”) from our sins. Jesus wants us to ask Him to forgive us and He always will when we ask.

Last Week In Chapel

Last week in Chapel we talked about Giving Thanks. Our main point was that we “Will be Thankful Every Single Day!” Pastor Kami shared the story of Jesus healing the 10 lepers, but how only 1 returned to say thank you to Jesus. We want to have an attitude of gratitude as we remember that every good and perfect gift comes from our Heavenly Father. We talked about how gratitude starts in our hearts and how it’s not enough to simply feel thankful; we need to express our gratitude.

Our Bible verse was Psalm 118:1 “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever!”

We also gave thanks for the 137 shoeboxes turned in by our 1-3 graders and the 93 shoeboxes given by our pre-K and Kindergarteners. We prayed for every boy and girl who will receive these boxes, that their hearts will be open to the Gospel message they will hear and that they will recognize that Jesus loves them and has given His life for them. We thanked God, in faith, that we will see these shoebox recipients in heaven one day!

Operation Christmas Child

Last Week In Chapel

Last week in chapel we learned that God is with us in the storms of life. Pastor Kami taught the Bible story of Jesus calming the storm from Mark 4:35-41. In this passage Jesus directed the disciples to get in the boat with Him to cross to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. Jesus quickly fell asleep after a long day of teaching, and the disciples became overwhelmed with fear as a huge storm arose all around them. They woke Jesus saying, “Don’t you care that we are going to drown?!” Jesus rebuked and calmed both the storm and His disciples. From this Gospel account we can learn that storms come - even when we’re following Jesus. Storms don’t scare Jesus. And when storms come, we need to remember that Jesus is in the boat with us.

Our Bible verse was John 14:17b - “...And the peace I give is a gift that the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid."

This week in Chapel Pastor Kami told the story from Mark 2:1-12 of the lame man whose 4 friends brought him to Jesus to be healed. They loved him enough to do whatever necessary to make sure their friend met Jesus. Before Jesus healed this man born lame, He forgave his sins.

Jesus knows that more than physical healing, we all need spiritual healing that only He can provide. We show our friends that we love them by bringing them to Jesus too and by sharing the gift of His love with them.

Our Bible Verse this week was Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone.”

Pastor Kami also reminded our kids that a great way we can share the message of Jesus with others is through Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. Information will be going out on Monday in the purple folders. All shoeboxes are due in Chapel on Wednesday, November 16.
