LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson continued our series on the type of culture we hope to see within our upper elementary with Part 2. Using Matthew 7 and Jesus’ teaching on the Golden Rule, Mr. Vinson encouraged our students to approach this year with a desire to treat others like they wish to be treated. While it is easy to show kindness towards those who show us kindness in return, we want to help instill a mindset in our students that everyone deserves to be treated with love, kindness and respect, even if they don’t always return the same treatment to us. Will you join us in praying that our students will learn to show the love of Christ to each other in the hallways, in the locker rooms, in the classrooms, on the athletic fields, etc.?

AUGUST MEMORY VERSES: Deuteronomy 10:12-13 (ESV)

Help your child learn their memory verses over the course of this month.

12 “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?

LIONS OF THE WEEk

  • 4th Grade = Liam Reimer

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Would you like to celebrate your child’s birthday this year? Consider one of the following options as a way to make their day special.

  1. Purchase birthday cart treat items from our snack cart for your child’s homeroom class for $25. Email our Director of Student Life, Tiffany McBurnett (tiffany.mcburnett@tcslions.org), if you would like to schedule a day.

  2. Send in prepackaged birthday treats purchased from a store for the homeroom class to enjoy together.

  3. Join your child for lunch (beginning in September) in the cafeteria.

BLACKBAUD NOTIFICATIONS

For those that have been at Trinity in years past you will remember that Renweb used to send out weekly grade reports to prompt you to review your child’s grades and progress. While Blackbaud does not send an automated report each week, you do have the option to select which notifications you would like to receive to help you support your child. You can subscribe to the following notifications in Blackbaud if you choose, but you will need to set these individual notifications if you want to subscribe to them.

  • Assignment Added

  • Assignment Changed

  • Assignment Graded

  • Assignment Missing

  • Late/Missing Assignment Submitted

REMINDER: SICK ABSENCES AND MAKEUP WORK PROCESS

If your child has to miss class this year due to sickness or quarantine, check out our process below for getting your child caught up on missing work and assignments.

  • WHO WILL HELP ORGANIZE MY CHILD’S MAKEUP WORK? - Kasey Hanson is our RTA (Return to Academics) Coordinator and will help oversee connecting you and your child with a list of missing assignments to complete. Be on the lookout for her emails to help you stay connected.

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS ABSENT 1-2 DAYS? - Have your child connect with their teachers upon their return to the classroom. We will not send makeup work home for sick absences of this length.

  • WHAT IF MY CHILD IS ABSENT 3+ DAYS? - Mrs. Hanson will be emailing you a Google Sheet with all of the assignments your child will need to complete for each class.

  • NOTE: If your child is sick, we want your child to focus on resting and healing before worrying about missing assignments. Please know our teachers will work diligently to help your child catch up once they are feeling well enough to complete assignments.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Welcome back! We are so excited to have started the new year, and we are absolutely thrilled to be investing in your students on our campus once again. It’s been a great first week, and we are excited to see what God has in store for week 2.

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson kicked off the school year with Part 1 of the type of culture we hope to see within our upper elementary here at Trinity. Using John 2 and the imagery of the wedding servants filling the pots “to the brim” at Jesus’ request, Mr. Vinson encouraged our students to approach this year with a desire for excellence by doing their very best in everything they do. We hope to particularly see this in our students’ efforts with their academics. Our hope and prayer is that every student will “fill it to the brim” and do their very best in every endeavor they attempt this year...with the goal of glorifying and honoring God with those best efforts. Be sure to ask your child about the children’s book Mr. Vinson read and what it means to be a “Halfway Herbert”.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Here is a quick checklist of suggested items to help you in preparing for Tuesday.

*ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL ASSISTANCE*

Be sure to review the arrival/dismissal videos sent out by the school to help you in navigating the carpool lines.

Tips to Help During Arrival:

  1. Be sure to arrive early due to expected traffic related to the 1st day of school.

  2. If your child arrives before 7:40am they will need to go to the gym until they are dismissed to homeroom at 7:40am.

  3. If your child arrives after 7:40am they will need to go directly to homeroom.

Tips to Help During Dismissal:

  1. School releases at 2:50 for upper elementary and the dismissal process is expected to last at least until 3:40pm, but most likely longer due to it being the first day. We recommend not showing up right at 2:50pm.

  2. Have your dismissal card ready and visible to help expedite the process.

  3. If your child does not hear their number called, you will be directed to the Missing Lot (parking lot), and we will work quickly to retrieve your child for you.

*SUMMER READING FORM - DUE ON FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL*

USE THIS FORM TO CONFIRM THE COMPLETION OF YOUR SUMMER READING

Please plan to print the form and submit it to your child’s Reading/English teacher.

***REMINDER: Students who have completed their summer reading requirements by the 1st day of school will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card.***

ad the privilege of attending our recent strings and band concerts and was particularly impressed with our middle school students and all they have accomplished in their musical growth since August. I have the unique privilege of my office being located right next to the band room so I have a front row seat to hearing them grow and mature in the mastery of their musical selections all year long. Mr. Hurt is doing a wonderful job of overseeing our Performing Arts Department, and I’m so thankful for each of the teachers who are responsible for instructing these classes. May the LORD continue to use these students and their incredible gifts for His glory and honor!

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

The homestretch of the school year is here, but we haven’t reached summer break just yet. Keep encouraging your child to finish the school year strong!

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Vinson continued our chapel series on “Finish Strong” by teaching from several passages of Scripture. In order to finish strong, students were reminded to 1) Keep their eyes on Jesus, 2) Keep good company with friends and 3) Keep trusting God with the results of their efforts. Our hope is that our students will finish the year strong by remembering that doing their best as a student is an act of worship to God. Check out this video as a reminder of what it looks like to celebrate early before you have finished the race!

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

In Ephesians 2:8-10 Paul emphasizes the role of works and faith in regards to our personal salvation. While good works do not serve as a basis for our salvation, they are nevertheless a necessary and expected fruit of our salvation. Our works are meant to glorify God rather than to give us a reason for boasting before Him. Most of us understand this concept when it comes to our salvation...the fact that God saves us on the account of Christ’s work vs. our own to keep us from boasting. But notice what Paul says in v.10 about the good works produced after our salvation. The fact that God has prepared the good works that flow from our salvation beforehand goes even further to show that we have zero grounds for boasting in ourselves. The gifts, abilities and resources that we have and use to bring glory to God are not a direct result of anything in us. Instead, those attributes are gifts from our Heavenly Father. In summary, we praise God and boast in Him because He saved us while we were dead in our sins, and He has made us alive to walk in the power of Spirit which enables us to now produce good. What an incredible God we serve!

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Coach Ross continued our chapel series on “Finish Strong” by teaching from Luke 15:1-32. He emphasized that even in the midst of failures, we must avoid letting others or even our own emotions keep us from finishing strong in the work that God has called us to.

APRIL MEMORY VERSE: ROMANS 8:28-29 (ESV)

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Spring is one of my favorite times of the school year due to the excitement surrounding the anticipation of summer break. Students are lively, the days are warmer, and there is just a general appreciation for school as the realization sets in that time is short for making final memories before moving on to the next grade level. Last spring was so hard on me personally as I missed the daily interaction with our students particularly during this spring period. What a blessing to be on campus with the option for face-to-face learning as we continue moving through April and as we look forward to May. In the coming weeks we will have more and more opportunities to celebrate the accomplishments of your children this year. I’m so grateful for all that the LORD has done, and I am excited to make the most of these final weeks. May the LORD fill our students with spiritual moments and memories between now and summer break that will impact them for a lifetime!

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Coach Carr kicked off our new series entitled “Finish Strong” by highlighting the call Jesus gave to his initial disciples in Mark 1:16-20 . As we look towards finishing this school year strong, Coach Carr reminded us that we need to be fully devoted in our walk with Jesus as a starting point for finishing strong. May the LORD continue to call our students into a deeper relationship with Him!

We will hold our Elementary Talent Show on Thursday, May 13th at 6:00 pm in the Student Center located in the Early Learning building.

Please fill out the google form in this email with your student’s talent selection and include any required information. All selections MUST be submitted by April 23rd.Participants will present their selection before our Fine Arts team on May 5th.

Book Fair

We are excited to offer a Scholastic Book Fair this spring! The students (K3-5th grade) will visit the book fair with their class one time during the week of April 19-23. In order to limit the amount of people visiting the book fair, the students will only visit the book fair with their class rather than with a parent accompanying them. Students that wish to participate will need to have an electronic account set up by a parent for payment. We will not accept cash or checks. More information about the book fair and setting up the electronic account will be sent home after spring break. Happy reading!

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

May each of you enjoy the time off from school and the changing of the seasons as we rest in the peace that comes from the resurrection of our Savior!

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Mr. Higgins challenged our students from Luke 9:51 and the major turning point in Christ's ministry where He set his eyes on Jerusalem. The challenge was "Christ fixed His eyes on Jerusalem and the Cross for us. Will we fix our eyes on Jesus?" Mr. Higgins further challenged us to return to our first love just as the church of Ephesus was told to do in Revelation 2:2.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. VINSON

Don’t forget to make sure your child is coming to school each day with a mask. We have seen a rise recently in students who are needing to come and get a mask from my office each day. Please double check that your child has a mask before leaving the house and perhaps stick a few back ups in their book bag as well. Thank you for your help and support in this area!

LAST WEEK IN CHAPEL

Pastor JC Worley from Go Church spoke from Proverbs 13:20 and 14:7, continuing our series on “Wisdom from Proverbs.” Pastor JC emphasized that if we walk with the wise, we will be led into wisdom ourselves, but if we walk with fools our lives will end in ruin. Wise friends can be a source of guidance while foolish friends often lead us into temptations and traps. Ultimately, our students were left with this thought: “Show me your friends, and I’ll show you your future.” Our prayer is that all of our students would seek godly friendships as a source of encouragement.

Mr. Higgins spoke from Proverbs 20:17, continuing our series on “Wisdom from Proverbs” by discussing the need we have to take responsibility for our mistakes and actions.
