Learning Enrichment Opportunity (LEO) Program

LEO (Learning Enrichment Opportunity) is a pull-out program for high achieving students in 1st-3rd grades. This program provides an opportunity for challenge beyond classroom academics and the flexibility needed to help meet the needs of individual students. This opportunity is accomplished through enrichment and accelerated learning. The LEO program is full of differentiated activities and projects that cover complex and challenging subject matter, leading students in research, integration of experiences, and interdisciplinary connections. LEO gives the student another avenue to stretch and grow outside the classroom.

LEO Club is specially designed for kindergarten and first grade students to develop deductive, inventive, analytical, and evaluative thinking skills. LEO Club targets Kindergarten students during the spring semester and first grade students during the fall semester. LEO Club is structured differently in that all students participate in a 30 minute class each week. Our goal is for everyone to experience practice with higher level thinking skills while identifying those who demonstrate readiness for the LEO program.

Our LEO guidelines and qualifications have been updated this year. Invitations for 2nd and 3rd grade students will be sent out based on qualifications beginning Tuesday, August 30th. 1st grade invitations will be sent in January for the spring semester. Please click on the link for more detailed information regarding program qualifications, standards, and goals.

You can find their family in the stadium supporting our Lions under Friday night lights or serving at Fine Arts performances all around campus. Jennifer is gifted certified, seasoned in elementary education, and eager to tackle our Lower School LEO program this year!

The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

Our students are settling into our school routine nicely. We just completed benchmark assessments this past week to gauge where our students are academically. Student login information for the kindergarten-third grade reading curriculum will be sent home this week. This resource provides families with an opportunity to review vocabulary words, grammar skills, and spelling patterns through interactive games. In addition, students can review the reading story that is read throughout the week in class. Teachers have beautifully woven a Biblical perspective within each lesson to connect and apply God's truths throughout this curriculum. As you navigate the online resource, we encourage you to discuss those Biblical principles with your child as they will not be evident in the curriculum itself. As with any online learning, we recommend parent supervision. When you login, select the reading book image to launch the online program. We feel this resource will strengthen the partnership between the classroom and home to ensure academic success for our students. We are excited about our students reaching their full potential as we continue to partner together. Your child’s teacher will communicate additional information this week.

Go Church Playground Update

I would like to touch base with you regarding the completion of the playground at our Go Church campus. A piece of climbing equipment arrived bent and has therefore stalled the completion. Production is working as quickly as they can to send us a replacement. We will continue to use areas such as the outdoor lawn and gymnasium for recess time.

Sherry Randolph - Early Learning & Lower School Principal

The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

I am happy to announce that Lower School students have been assigned to classes! I appreciate your prayers, as we invest much time and thought into each student's placement. We do our very best to accommodate any student friend requests that we receive, however; please know that it is impossible to accommodate all of the requests. When placing students into classes, we take into account many things (boy/girl ratio, academic needs, group dynamics, parent and teacher feedback, etc.). Due to the numerous factors that are considered in class placement, it is not possible to change your child’s placement once it has been posted. We trust that each child is exactly where God wants them to be!

This information will be available to view on Blackbaud Monday, August 1st. You can access this information by clicking on your child’s name. Scroll down to view their homeroom class. To view the class roster, click on the name of the class to visit the Class Page. You can then click on Roster to view your child’s classmates. You will receive a notification when your child's schedule and classroom number are able to be viewed.

Valori currently lives in Fayetteville with her husband, Stephen, and her three daughters Natalie (16), Emma Grace (14), and Kimber (10). After homeschooling for 5 years, they joined Trinity and are beginning their 6th year as part of the Trinity family. Valori has been spending time in the classroom as a substitute for several years and now feels called to return full time. She is excited to have a room full of second graders and is looking forward to all that God has in store for this coming year. In her free time, she loves to spend time reading, traveling, weightlifting, and finding unique restaurants with delicious food!

The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

I hope your family is enjoying these last few weeks of summer! Please let us know if you have any questions as you are preparing for the start of school. In this newsletter, I have included a section titled, “Meet Our New Staff”. Each week, I will update this section with various new staff members who have joined our Lower School team. Don’t miss out on getting to know the new faces you will see around campus!

Meet Our New Staff

I am pleased to introduce Katie Judy, who is joining Trinity as our K3 (3day) teacher.

Mrs. Judy has been teaching for 15 years in various school settings, age levels, and positions. She previously taught 5th grade at Trinity and is excited to be returning! She and her husband Dan have three children who will also be at TCS. Lila will be in 1st grade, Lizzie in Pre-K4, and James in Pre-K3. Mrs. Judy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being involved in her church, shopping, and reading. She aims to create a loving environment where her students can learn, grow, and begin to understand the love of Christ.

It is my pleasure to introduce Christian Wade, who is joining us as our school nurse and receptionist at our Go Church location. Mrs. Wade was born and raised in Douglasville, Georgia.  She graduated from Samford University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and is a Registered Nurse (RN). Mrs. Wade currently lives in Peachtree City with her husband, Trevor, and her three children - Tanner (6), Tyler (4), and Collins (2). Tanner and Tyler are joining the Trinity family this year in Kindergarten and PK-4 respectively, and Mrs. Wade is looking forward to Collins attending Trinity in the coming years. She and her family are incredibly grateful to be a part of the Trinity family and to support its mission for years to come.

Trinity at Go Church Update

We are so excited about our early learning facility at Go Church! It has been a fun summer project as our team has been preparing this new space for our youngest Trinity lions. I am thrilled with how this location will serve our students and their families. Chris Hanson, our Director of Operations, will be sending formal communication soon regarding transportation. We can’t wait to show you this new space during our Back to School Events!

The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

It is hard to believe that we have only one more week of school left! It has been an amazing year!! Next week is going to be so much fun, as we participate in our End of Year Lower School Celebrations. It’s a way for us to celebrate our students with fun activities to recognize their hard work this year!

 Monday, May 23rd

  • Preschool will celebrate with a GLOW Party & Ring Pops Day! Get ready to wear neon colors and dance your heart out while wearing glow bracelets and necklaces as a gift from us! We will also provide glow paint, so your student really shines under the black lights!

Tuesday, May 24th

  • Kindergarten will enjoy Donuts, Pj’s, & Movie Day! Our kindergarten students can wear their cutest pj’s and eat donuts in the school cafeteria. They will get to see a little glimpse of what eating in the cafeteria looks like for them as rising first graders! Then, it’s time to go to the Student Center for a movie!

Tuesday, May 24th

  • First Grade will celebrate with a Scooter & Popsicle Day!  It’s time for our students  to show off their riding skills! Our first graders will enjoy riding scooters as we create a safe and fun outdoor experience. We will finish the day with a popsicle treat! We will provide the scooters and ride-ons. Please send in a bike helmet labeled with your child's name.

Wednesday, May 25th

  • Second Grade will head to our stadium for Inflatables at the Stadium and TCBY Day! We have rented four giant inflatables just for our second graders! What could be more fun than an extra large bounce house, triple sports challenge, an 18’ high voltage dual lane dry slide and a 45’ obstacle course! TCBY will be a welcomed treat after having fun in the sun!

Thursday, May 26th

  • Third Grade will celebrate BIG as we want to acknowledge their hard work and dedication while in Lower School. It’s a Water Day Bash with Kona Ice! Our students will play on three giant water inflatables - a double lap obstacle challenge with a water slide and a 18’ tidal wave, and a 16’ blue wave! This bash wouldn’t be complete without a visit from a local fire station. They will use their fire truck to create a giant Water Spray with their fire hose. Expect your third grader to get soaked!!! Please send in a towel and an extra set of clothes. Girls should wear a swimsuit underneath their clothes. Boys may wear swim trunks with a t-shirt.

The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

Our Spiritual Emphasis Week was amazing! I am so proud of our students and their desire to grow in their relationship with our Lord. We studied the Lord’s Prayer piece by piece to see what God is teaching us about prayer. Each chapel service included a Biblical story, power verse, a fun game, and a call to action. We ended each service with fun giveaways such as a class pizza party, ice cream party, footballs, pop it keychains, koosh balls, and stuffed Trinity lions!! By the end of the week, our students were able to recite the Lord’s Prayer. That’s quite an accomplishment! Here are concepts that we focused on throughout the week:

  • God is our perfect Father in Heaven!

  • We must pray for God’s will to be done in our lives!

  • We must depend on God for what we need every day!

  • We must pray for God’s forgiveness and forgive others!

  • We must pray for God to help us avoid temptation’s trap.

  • We must end our prayer time by focusing on praising God!

Our first Annual Spiritual Emphasis Week was a huge success and a lot of fun!

The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

We are looking forward to our first ever Lower School Spiritual Emphasis Week happening this coming week! We will be studying a series called, Teach Us To Pray”. We will be learning “The Lord’s Prayer” piece by piece and focusing on the lessons that Jesus teaches us about prayer. I am looking forward to spending this time with our students each day!

IOWA Dress Code

Students may wear spirit wear (TCS t-shirts, polos, outerwear, etc.) with approved dress code pants/shorts or jeans throughout this week.

Field Day, May 6th

Lower School students will participate in Field Day on Friday, May 6th. Students may wear appropriate athletic shorts and spirit wear shirts on this day. The Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy, compromised of Trinity high school students, graciously offered to plan and facilitate this day!

IOWA Assessment Reminders

Testing dates are as follows:

  • May 2nd and 3rd: 1st - 3rd Grade Students

  • May 4th and 5th: K5 Students

Here are some helpful tips to ensure students perform at their very best:

1. Minimize stress - Encourage students to try their very best, but not to feel anxious about the test. This assessment is simply an opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned throughout the year!

2. Attendance - It is important for students to be present and arrive at school on time for these testing dates. Students in 1st - 3rd grade will begin testing promptly at 8:15. Kindergarten students will begin testing promptly at 8:30. Students who arrive late will wait at the front office until a testing break to minimize classroom interruptions once the testing has begun.

3. Rest and Routine - Please be sure students receive plenty of rest each night and eat a healthy breakfast each morning.

A mandatory makeup test session will be assigned for students who are absent the days of testing.

Last Week in Chapel

We had a great time in Chapel last week, although we missed our 1st grade friends who were on a field trip to the Atlanta zoo. Pastor Kami taught about the story of Nebuchadnezzar and his prideful downfall that led to 7 years of living like a wild animal. We had some special guests join us in chapel - Kevin & Riley helped lead us in worship and Chuck Foo taught us our Bible verse.

Our key point: “I will choose to stay humble and say NO to pride!”

Bible verse: “Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18

The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

This year, our standardized assessment will be administered online for all students. The IOWA assessment enables the Lower School administration and teachers to identify our strengths and weaknesses as a school in preparation for the following year. Students will complete a practice test before the actual assessment to become familiar and comfortable with the online format. A mandatory makeup test session will be assigned for students who are absent the days of testing.

Testing dates are as follows:

May 2nd and 3rd: 1st - 3rd Grade Students

May 4th and 5th: K5 Students

We are excited to review each student's academic progress and share these results with parents once testing results are finalized.

Last Week in Chapel

Our Chapel lesson was a continuation of our series, “I Know It Sounds Crazy, but It’s True”! In this lesson, the students learned how Peter brought his need to Jesus and how Jesus provided exactly what Peter needed in a very creative and strange way. We can trust God to provide for our needs, no matter what our circumstances may be.

Main Focus: God will provide for our needs.

Power Verse: “And God will generously provide all you need...” 2 Corinthians 9:8

Whatchagaddaknow: “When I Have A Need - God Will Provide!”

Classroom Highlight - A Peek Into Our Classroom Fun

The Pre-K 4 year old classes enjoyed a beautiful day at Serenbe Farms on Wednesday, April 20th. To reinforce their plant and animal study, the students were able to see first hand God's glorious creation.  Students rotated through different areas of the farm, including baby chickens, a chicken coop, as well as vegetable and flower gardens.  Students learned about the life of a chicken and also learned what plants need to thrive. Afterwards, the students enjoyed having a picnic with all their friends!  It was a wonderful day!

Our students enjoyed learning about our risen Savior throughout this past week and celebrating with Easter parties and egg hunts.

Last Week in Chapel

Pastor Kami continued our series called “I Know It Sounds Crazy, But It’s True”. She taught about how Gideon obeyed God even when it didn’t make sense, and that there may be times in our lives when God asks us to do something that we don’t understand. Because we know God and trust Him, we can still choose to obey.

Our Scripture verse: “If you love Me, obey My commandments.” John 14:15 - *Ask your 1st-3rd grader who our special guest was that taught us this verse.

Key Point: “I don’t get it! That’s OK! I’m gonna obey anyway!”

Last Week in Chapel

This week in chapel Pastor Kami taught our kids about what reconciliation is - a big word that means making things right. They looked at the story of Jacob tricking his brother Esau out of his birthright, and how after many years God brought the twin brothers back together. Thankfully, they showed us how true forgiveness can take place.

Our Bible verse: Romans 12:18 “Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.”

Please ask your kids: What are the 3 things we need to say when apologizing to someone?

Hopefully they’ll answer: 1. I’m sorry 2. It was wrong of me to _______________ 3. Will you please forgive me?

Classroom Highlight - A Peek Into Our Classroom Fun

Members of our high school Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy have spent time volunteering in our first grade classrooms. Our students have enjoyed this time, as these future high school leaders have read books to the class and also devoted time to help students progress in reading fluency. A few students have even received shoe tying lessons! Our students love seeing  the “big kids” and enjoy the time they spend in our classrooms. We are blessed to have great role models right here at school!

Classroom Highlight - A Peek Into Our Classroom Fun

Kindergarten classes enjoyed an in-house field trip sponsored by Coweta STEM institute. Students visited 4 different classes to learn more about the day and night sky. Here’s how our Lead Kindergarten teacher, Wendy Moore, described the experience.

“In one class students learned about how the planets orbit the sun. In this class, students did an experiment where they made a sun out of yellow playdoh and had to orbit a planet (marble) around the sun in a counter-clockwise motion.

Another class was all about the moon. Students learned what the moon looks like, what is on the moon, moon phases, etc. Then students were able to make a model moon with craters to take home.

In another class, students explored constellations, stars, and learned about the sun. They investigated the effects of the sun's light and heat on the Earth. Students even got to decorate and use a telescope to take home.

In the last class, students used refractive glasses to discover that all light is separated into seven colors (rainbows). Students learned the definition of magnifying. They got to do a hands-on experiment by putting different objects into a cup of water and looking at the object while it was underwater to see how it magnified the object to look bigger.” Wendy Moore
