Last Week in Chapel

Last week in Chapel, Mrs. Randolph completed our series, “Christmas Gifts” with a final lesson on the gift of peace. In this lesson, we learned that Jesus offers peace in troubled times. We focused on these three points:

  • The angels announced “Peace on Earth.”

  • “Peace” does not mean that everything is perfect.

  • We can have peace because God is with us.

Whatchagaddaknow: God Will Give You Peace Within, He’ll Be With You ‘Till The End!

Last Week in Chapel

Last week Pastor Kami reminded us of the BEST Christmas gift we’ve ever been given - the gift of a Savior! Our dear friends Kevin and Riley led us in worship and several 3rd graders helped tell our Bible story. We learned that God loved us enough to give His Son. Jesus loved us enough to leave heaven. And Jesus loved us enough to come as a baby. It is our prayer that this Christmas in the midst of all of the buying, wrapping, and giving of gifts, we remember that we’ve already received the perfect gift - Jesus!

Whatchagaddaknow: “God Gives Joy To Every Girl And Boy!”

The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

We had a wonderful time of praise and worship in our Chapel service last week. Each third grade class was given the opportunity to lead our Lower School students in worship. It was such a special time together. I am grateful that our Lower School students have a heart for worship. Glory to God!

Lion Leadership Program

Lion Leadership award winners Mrs. William’s 2nd grade class

We have implemented a Lion Leadership Program within our Lower School to encourage and foster Christ-like leadership qualities within our students. Our goal is to recognize students for displaying leadership qualities and for setting an example for others to follow. Throughout the school year, our first-third grade students will participate in fun challenges. The winning class will receive the “Lion Leadership” award to proudly display in their classroom until the next competition begins.

Recently, our students participated in their first challenge! The goal of this challenge was to earn the highest number of “Hallway Hoorays”. Each “Hallway Hooray” represented a time that a faculty member recognized a class for following our hallway procedures. All of our students did an amazing job! I announced the winning class in Chapel last week.

Congratulations to Mrs. Williams’ 2nd grade class for setting an example while walking our halls and winning the “Lion Leadership” award!

Last Week in Chapel

Last Week in Chapel

Last week in chapel we finished our 6 week series called “Blessed”! Pastor Kami taught about the gift of the Holy Spirit and all that He blesses us with as we looked at Acts chapters 1-2. We learned that the Holy Spirit blesses us with comfort, peace, guidance, and power to live our lives with boldness for Jesus. Four students from Mrs. Jaroszewski’s class did a beautiful job of leading us in worship.

Power Verse: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” Acts 1:8

Whatchagaddaknow: “The Holy Spirit Is a Special Gift!”

Last Week in Chapel

Last Week in Chapel

We had a great time continuing our "Blessed" series in chapel last week! Mrs. Duncan taught about the importance of prayer and the blessings we receive as we wait on the Lord's answer.  Prayer is a very important part of following Jesus! We can be confident He cares about every aspect of our lives, hears every prayer, and will acknowledge every request according to His will. Students learned whether it be yes, no, or wait, we can always trust His answer because our God is good!

Power Verse: "Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you."  Matthew 7:7

Whatchgaddaknow: "God Will Answer When I Pray!"

Last Week in Chapel

We had a great time in Chapel this week as Mrs. Moore continued our “Blessed” series! This series is all about how God has blessed us in so many ways! In last week’s lesson, the students learned about one of the most important blessings that God has given us, salvation! We talked about how Jesus died on the cross for our sins and that we can be saved from our sin if we believe in Him and make Him Lord of our life.

Power Verse: "If I openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

Mrs. Randolph continued teaching our series, “Blessed”. Through the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego our students learned that God has blessed us with total protection. We learned that no matter what we are facing, we do not have to become overwhelmed or worried because 1) God is in control, 2) God is bigger than the enemy, and 3) God can protect you.

Whatchagaddaknow: God Will Protect Me, So I Trust In Him!

Last Week in Chapel

We're excited to jump into our new series in chapel called "Blessed"!  In last week's lesson, Mrs. Duncan shared that as sons and daughters of God, we are blessed beyond measure! God has not blessed us so that we can keep those blessings to ourselves and be selfish. Instead, God has blessed his children so they can go into this world and bless others! Through the story of the boy who shared his lunch in John 6, students learned that as we are obedient to God, He will use our blessing to bless others time and time again.

Power Verse: "And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others." 2 Corinthians 9:8

Whatchagaddaknow: "I've Been Blessed, So I'll Bless Others!"

Last Week in Chapel

We had a great time in Chapel this week as Mrs. Moore finished our series all about Church and the amazing things that happen when we gather together to worship God. In last week’s lesson, the students learned about how church is for everyone. We discussed how we can bring others to Jesus by showing our friends kindness, praying with them, inviting them to church, and sharing with them about God's love. The Bible story found in Mark 2:1-12 was a beautiful example of four friends that did whatever it took to get their paralyzed friend to Jesus for healing and forgiveness.

Third Grade Worship Team Opportunity

We are beginning a third grade worship team! This opportunity is available for all interested third graders. The only requirement is to have a heart for worship and to be willing to stand on the stage and sing. The heart of this worship team is simply to be an example to others of how to worship. I consider our third graders to be the leaders of our Lower School. I am excited to provide an opportunity where they can shine God’s light before others. Here are some key details: 1) Each week a group of third grade students will be selected to lead worship 2) An administrator, who is leading Chapel that week, will meet with the students to let them know what song they will be singing 3) No microphones will be used, so it is not necessary to know all of the words.

If your third grader is interested, please click on the link to let me know.

Mrs. Randolph continued teaching on our study of the “Church”. We focused on the area of ministry. Through the story of Peter appointing deacons, the students learned that we can use our gifts and talents in ministry to God’s Church. Several staff members shared with the students how they use their specific talents to serve at their local churches.

Last Week in Chapel

We had a great time in chapel together as we continued our CHURCH series! Pastor Kami talked about how we are called to worship God in all that we do along with some help from lots of fun friends in our elementary chapel. Kevin & Riley led us in the song “Here I am to Worship”. One student from each class helped act out our Bible story from 2 Samuel 6 when King David worshiped and danced before the Lord in celebration of the Ark of the Covenant’s return to Jerusalem. Chuck Foo helped us learn our Power Verse, which was: “…’You must worship the LORD your God and serve only Him.” Luke 4:8.

Last Week in Chapel

We enjoyed another week of chapel together focusing deeper into our CHURCH series! Not only is church a fun place with a serious mission, it's a place where we honor God and remember the ultimate sacrifice He paid for us. In last week's lesson, students learned about communion through the example Jesus set for us with His disciples at the Last Supper. We learned what the communion elements represent and the importance of believers remembering Jesus' healing, saving grace, and goodness in our lives.

Important Dismissal Information For PreK4 and Kindergarten Parents/Students Only

Have you registered for PickUp Patrol? Have you confirmed your child’s default dismissal plan?

Getting started:

REGISTER: You will receive a registration email with a link to set up your account. The web app is free to parents and you can use it from your smartphone or computer.

For easy access, follow the instructions in your registration email for how to add it to your phone’s home screen (PUP is not accessed through the app stores).

If you are already registered (had a student here last year), you can log in to PUP and set your child's default plan.

ENTER DEFAULT PLANS: Once you register, log into your PickUp Patrol account by Monday, August 7 to confirm your child’s default dismissal plan. It’s important that you complete this step so that we can accurately dismiss your children.

How it works:

Your child's regular dismissal plan is entered into the system. This is called their Default Plan. Then whenever you have a change to the Default Plan, you’ll submit it through the PUP app. When the change is submitted, the school will be notified.

PLEASE NOTE:  Changes must be submitted by 12:00pm on the day of the change.  You will not be able to make changes after the 12:00pm deadline.

Important Dismissal Information for Main Campus Students (1st-3rd)

Parents, We have partnered with the company safeDISMISSAL.COM to facilitate our dismissal process for our Early Learning campus (PreK-3 through Kinder) and our Main Campus (1st - 8th grades). One of the many wonderful features of this dismissal process is that your children will remain comfortably and safely in their classroom until the moment they meet you in the "car loading zone".

Here are a few tips to follow during our dismissal process:

  • Please make sure to have your ‘pick-up’ card displayed in your front window when entering the dismissal line. Please keep your card displayed until your child has been loaded into your car.

  • Please stay in-line (no passing) during dismissal as the children will be instructed to walk to specific spots for loading.

  • To reduce your wait time, please keep up with the car in front of you.  Stay attentive and focused on the car line.

  • If your student does not arrive at the loading spot before you do, you may be instructed to move to a "waiting" area where your child will be notified again. We ask you to move to this area so that we do not hold up the remaining dismissal line.

  • Please note:  Your child is assigned to be picked up at a particular spot according to the order of cars in line each day.  Please follow the car in front of you until the line stops, regardless of where you might or might not see your child.  Stopping before the line has filled will cause the sequence to be thrown off and delay the line.  We will get your child to the proper spot should they have gone to the wrong place.

Finally, we ask for your patience the first couple of weeks of school as everyone gets accustomed to the process.  It will get faster/better each day!

The administrators and teachers are committed to making this process beneficial to all parties. Please visit www.safeDISMISSAL.com for more information.  Below are a couple of helpful resources to further explain the process.

The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

Last week we began Lower School Chapel! We had a wonderful time worshiping together. We have a few new things we are doing this year in Chapel that I hope your family will enjoy. We will be providing you with a family devotion that relates to each week’s Chapel lesson. This is a great opportunity to expand on what we are studying in Chapel and to make the lesson relevant to your child’s life. More details can be found below, including the link to our first devotion! We also began Connection Group Time in our Early Learning Chapel. Preschool and kindergarten students will gather together for Chapel to worship and learn that’s week’s lesson. Then, we will break into small groups (Connection Group Time) where students will go more in depth about that week’s lesson and complete an activity. We are excited about our Connection Groups time! Lastly, I have plans to start a 3rd grade worship team! More details coming soon. I am excited to provide leadership opportunities for our third graders to use the gifts and talents the Lord has given them to lead others in worship. Each week, be sure to read Inside the Pride’s Lower School section called “Last Week in Chapel” (located below) to be informed about what your child is learning each week.

Upcoming Events

  • August 21st - PICTURE DAY - More details to come soon

  • August 28th - HOUSE COLOR DAY for 1st-3rd (Students are encouraged to wear a House color shirt, regular dress code bottoms are required, no hats)

Last Week in Chapel

We had a great time in Chapel this week! Mrs. Randolph began a series called CHURCH: A Fun Place with a Series Mission”. In last week’s lesson, the children learned  the history of the CHURCH and why the church is so important in the life of a Christian. God created the CHURCH. God commanded that we be faithful to CHURCH. Most of all, we need the CHURCH to live a thriving life on mission.

Whatchagaddaknow: “God Made The Church For You And Me!”

Each week, we will share a digital link to a family devotion that correlates to the previous week’s Chapel lesson. We hope that these family devotions provide an opportunity for you to connect as a family, grow together spiritually, and help your children apply the spiritual truths we are learning in Chapel.

To stay informed of what’s happening in your child’s classroom, please login into Blackbaud weekly. You will be able to see information such as weekly classroom announcements, upcoming events, weekly academic focus, grades, attendance, etc. This is the key to staying informed and replaces hardcopy newsletters. I encourage you to login each week. Information will be updated each Sunday at 5pm.

Accessing your child's class information weekly:

  • Login to your Blackbaud account and select your child's name under "Children".

  • Find your child's homeroom class under the "Progress" tab by scrolling down to where classes are listed.

  • After selecting the homeroom class, you will see the teacher's main class page where you will locate upcoming dates, class reminders and news.

  • Select the "Topics" tab to see specific information for each individual subject. Within each subject folder, you will see a plan for the week and upcoming projects and test information.

  • The "Topics" pages update each Sunday evening at 5pm and will remain current until the following Sunday evening.

Elementary Clubs

Our students love to participate in our elementary clubs. These clubs are designed for 1st-5th grade students and meet after school dismisses. Check out the main page of Inside the Pride for more information.

Last Week in Chapel

We will officially begin Chapel this coming Wednesday! I encourage you to read this section each week for information about what we are learning during our Chapel time. Each week, we will have a rotation of leaders who teach the week’s lesson - Sherry Randolph (LS Principal), Ashley Moore (Director of Student Life), Jennifer Duncan (Director of LEO program), and Kami Heilman (Trinity Church Children’s Pastor). We are excited about this special time to worship together and grow in our walk with Christ.

Online Curriculum Resource

Student login information for Lower School's reading curriculum will be sent home soon! This resource provides families with an opportunity to review vocabulary words, grammar skills, and spelling patterns through interactive games. In addition, students can review the reading story that is read throughout the week in class. Teachers have beautifully woven a Biblical perspective within each lesson to connect and apply God's truths throughout this curriculum. As you navigate the online resource, we encourage parents to discuss those Biblical principles with their child as they will not be evident in the curriculum itself. As with any online learning, we recommend parent supervision. We feel this resource will strengthen the partnership between the classroom and home to ensure academic success for all students. When you login, select the reading book image to launch the online program.
