Chapel

Pastor Kami Heilman continued her teaching on the series “Live Like a King”.

“For the next 4 weeks in Chapel we are learning what it means to “Live Like a King”, looking specifically at King David’s life and relationship with Mephibosheth. Students will be challenged to come to Jesus when they need comfort and healing, and to look for those around them who are hurting and in need. They will also learn that God has adopted us into His family and to choose their friends wisely.”  Pastor Kami

The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

I recently began Thankful Thursdays with my staff, where we celebrate the small and big things for which we are thankful. We serve a good, good God and focusing on His goodness keeps our perspective exactly where it should be - on God’s goodness, love, mercy, and grace. I am thankful for each family here at Trinity. Your children bring such joy, love, and humor to each and every day.  This community is like no other.

I have personally witnessed your support of one another time and time again. What a blessing it is to be a part of the Trinity family! On Thankful Thursdays and every day in between, I am grateful that you are here.

We are excited to offer a Scholastic Book Fair this spring! The students (K3-5th grade) will visit the book fair with their class one time during the week of April 19-23. In order to limit the amount of people visiting the book fair, the students will only visit the book fair with their class rather than with a parent accompanying them. Students that wish to participate will need to have an electronic account set up by a parent for payment. We will not accept cash or checks. More information about the book fair and setting up the electronic account will be sent home after spring break. Happy reading!

Last Week In Chapel

Easter is coming soon! Let’s celebrate the Risen King! In last week’s lesson, we learned that every life has a missing piece. People try to fill this emptiness with trophies, accomplishments, money, or friends. Our students learned that only Jesus can fill their emptiness. Jesus is The Missing Piece!

Main Focus: Jesus is the only who can fill the hole in your heart!

Power Verse: “The angel said,....You are looking for Jesus….He isn’t here. He has been raised from the dead.” Matthew 28:5,6

Whatchagaddaknow: Jesus is The Missing Piece!

Mobile Library Cart for 1st-3rd

When children read it supports cognitive development, improves language skills, prepares them for academic success, increases concentration and discipline, and improves imagination and creativity. The benefits of reading are endless! To kick off Read Across America Week, we are starting a mobile library cart for our 1st-3rd grade students. The library cart will be available during your child’s lunch time. Once students have finished eating their lunch, they may select a book from the library cart. Our outdoor patio will be the perfect reading spot on warm spring days. Children will be provided hand sanitizer before and after selecting their book.

We desire to foster a life-long love for reading during this time!

Annual Food Drive

Our Annual Food drive will take place from March 1st - April 1st. We are encouraging all students from preschool-8th grade to participate. This is a great opportunity to bless our community, while encouraging generosity in our students. Items donated will be given to Trinity Church’s food pantry and then dispersed to those in need. Items may be sent in with your student and given to their classroom/homeroom teacher. We appreciate your willingness to give!

Items needed:

Soup (bean, chicken noodle, vegetable, beef stew), applesauce, peaches, mayonnaise, pancake syrup, cereal, oatmeal, cocoa, coffee, evaporated milk, sugar, vanilla, canned meats (salmon, corned beef, tuna, chicken, etc.), canola oil, vegetable shortening, salad dressing, canned potatoes, instant potatoes, canned fruit, dried beans, peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti sauce, pasta, stew, rice, juices, ramen noodles, pudding, toilet paper, paper towels, diapers (all sizes), dish soap, sanitary napkins, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste.

Black History Month Highlights

We are very excited to have children’s author, Jonathan Clark, join us as we celebrate Black History Month. Mr. Clark will be reading his book Finding My Y: The Quest for Purpose. This will be a virtual reading for our 1st-3rd grade students on Friday, February 26th.

We are very excited to have children’s author, Jonathan Clark, join us as we celebrate Black History Month. Mr. Clark will be reading his book Finding My Y: The Quest for Purpose. This will be a virtual reading for our 1st-3rd grade students on Friday, February 26th. Below is a description of his book Finding My Y: The Quest for Purpose:

“The world is filled with many different kinds of people, and each and every one of us was created with purpose. We differ by age, gender, race, appearance, and many other things, but everyone has something special and each of our lives has meaning. Your life matters and you are here for a reason.  God created everything with intention and purpose, and that includes you!  You are never too young to start imagining who you might become and how you might make a difference in the world.  You are capable of greatness if you have the courage to dream big, work hard, and never lose sight of those dreams along the way. This is the story of one little boy's desire to belong, and his journey to keep his flame of hope alive as he discovers what is possible for his life if he doesn't give up.”

Last Week in Chapel

We began a new series in Chapel last week titled “Every Soul Matters to God”. Through the story of the Apostle Paul, we learned that every soul matters to God - not just people who are like us.

Last Week In Chapel

We learned about “The Amazing God Diet”. We studied the story of Daniel and his “special diet” and learned that, as Chrstians, we must choose to let only things that are pure into our minds and hearts. In order to live a strong and healthy life as a Christian, we must be very careful about what we put into our minds and hearts through music, movies, YouTube, and through our conversations with others.

Main Focus: We must be careful what we put into our minds and hearts!

Power Verse: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into  a new person by changing the way you think….” Romans 12:2

Whatchagaddaknow: Garbage In, Garbage Out! What Goes In Will Come Out!

LEO Program (Learning Enrichment Opportunities):

As mentioned in our summer newsletter, the LEO Program has started for the second semester! The LEO (Learning Enrichment Opportunities) program is designed to reach students in 1st-3rd grades, who need an academic challenge outside of the classroom environment. This is a class offering for advanced students who meet certain criteria based on factors such as academic performance, motivation, creativity, and test scores. This class is taught by our Director of Academics, Amy Robbins.

The Principal’s Piece: A Note From Mrs. Randolph

The students are settling in well after Christmas break. I enjoy seeing the hallways and classrooms filled with fun and laughter from your children.

Last week’s Chapel lesson was titled “Fresh Start”. We learned that God can erase our past and change our future. We studied the life of Matthew as a disciple. Matthew left his old life behind and chose to follow Jesus.

We focused on the following three truths:

  1. Jesus knows everything about you, but loves you anyway!

  2. Jesus doesn't see what you are, but what you can be!

  3. Choose to follow Jesus, and he will give you a fresh start!

Our Power Verse was: “...anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Spanish Update for Elementary

Mrs. Perez was unable to return to Trinity after Christmas break. We are so appreciative of the time Mrs. Perez worked at Trinity. Julia Stone will now be your child’s Spanish teacher. We are so pleased to have Mrs. Stone return to teaching Spanish, as she previously taught Spanish at Trinity for five years. The students are already loving it!

In Chapel, we learned about the Dead End sign. We studied the life of Peter, which teaches us that we can ask God for forgiveness when we make mistakes.

Main Focus: When we mess up, we must turn around and head back to God.

A Note From Mrs. Hurt: This December we will focus on the fruit of the Spirit: Faithfulness.  God shows His faithfulness to us, and the Holy Spirit gives us His strength to be faithful to Him, our family, and our friends.

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100:5
