Last Week in Chapel

This week in chapel Pastor Kami taught our kids about what reconciliation is - a big word that means making things right. They looked at the story of Jacob tricking his brother Esau out of his birthright, and how after many years God brought the twin brothers back together. Thankfully, they showed us how true forgiveness can take place.

Our Bible verse: Romans 12:18 “Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.”

Please ask your kids: What are the 3 things we need to say when apologizing to someone?

Hopefully they’ll answer: 1. I’m sorry 2. It was wrong of me to _______________ 3. Will you please forgive me?

Classroom Highlight - A Peek Into Our Classroom Fun

Members of our high school Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy have spent time volunteering in our first grade classrooms. Our students have enjoyed this time, as these future high school leaders have read books to the class and also devoted time to help students progress in reading fluency. A few students have even received shoe tying lessons! Our students love seeing  the “big kids” and enjoy the time they spend in our classrooms. We are blessed to have great role models right here at school!

Classroom Highlight - A Peek Into Our Classroom Fun

Kindergarten classes enjoyed an in-house field trip sponsored by Coweta STEM institute. Students visited 4 different classes to learn more about the day and night sky. Here’s how our Lead Kindergarten teacher, Wendy Moore, described the experience.

“In one class students learned about how the planets orbit the sun. In this class, students did an experiment where they made a sun out of yellow playdoh and had to orbit a planet (marble) around the sun in a counter-clockwise motion.

Another class was all about the moon. Students learned what the moon looks like, what is on the moon, moon phases, etc. Then students were able to make a model moon with craters to take home.

In another class, students explored constellations, stars, and learned about the sun. They investigated the effects of the sun's light and heat on the Earth. Students even got to decorate and use a telescope to take home.

In the last class, students used refractive glasses to discover that all light is separated into seven colors (rainbows). Students learned the definition of magnifying. They got to do a hands-on experiment by putting different objects into a cup of water and looking at the object while it was underwater to see how it magnified the object to look bigger.” Wendy Moore

Last Week in Chapel

This week we kicked off a new Chapel series called “I Know It Sounds Crazy, But It’s True!” Pastor Kami taught about King Josiah who became king at only 8 years old and led his nation in worship of the Lord. The main focus was that one is never too young to be used by God. Our friends Riley and Kevin led us in worship. At the end of our chapel time Pastor Kami invited all kids who wanted to be used by God starting now to stand.

Main Point: I am never too young to change the world!

Bible Verse: “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers…” 1 Timothy 4:12

Last Week in Chapel

In chapel last week, we learned how God cares deeply for people who are far from him. He wants all people to know about his love. We continued with the story of Jonah and learned how we must be willing to care more about those who are lost than we do about our own comfort and happiness.

Main Idea: We must have compassion for those who don't know God.

Whatchagaddaknow: "I gotta win the lost at any cost!"

Reminder: IOWA Testing Date Change

To help provide our teachers with additional instructional time and our students more exposure to their grade level content, we are moving our standardized testing week to May 2-6. Important Reading Update for 1st -3rd

Student login information for Lower School's reading curriculum will be sent home this week. This resource provides families with an opportunity to review vocabulary words, grammar skills, and spelling patterns through interactive games. In addition, students can review the reading story that is read throughout the week in class. Teachers have beautifully woven a Biblical perspective within each lesson to connect and apply God's truths throughout this curriculum. As you navigate the online resource, we encourage parents to discuss those Biblical principles with their child as they will not be evident in the curriculum itself. As with any online learning, we recommend parent supervision. We feel this resource will strengthen the partnership between the classroom and home to ensure academic success for all students. Should you need any assistance navigating this online resource, please contact your child’s teacher or Leslie Cook at leslie.cook@tcslions.org.

Mid-Year Assessments

As we begin the second semester, we want to ensure that your student is continuing to grow academically. Over the next few weeks, students will begin taking their mid-year assessments. These assessments help us to identify your student’s academic strengths and weaknesses. This data allows us to create an academic plan of improvement tailored to your child and the grade level as an entity. Your child does not need to study for these assessments, nor should there be any stress placed on your child to perform well. This is simply a way to chart their growth, thus far, in targeted areas. Please check your student’s class page in Blackbaud for further details.

Last Week in Chapel

Pastor Kami finished up our 4 week Chapel series about Thankfulness. This week’s emphasis was on Thanking God for including us. Our Bible story was from Luke 19 about Zacchaeus. We saw how after encountering Jesus, Zacchaeus thanked the Lord not only with his words, but through his acts of generosity in paying back everyone he had stolen from. When we truly encounter the Lord, our hearts can’t help but be changed, which spurs us on to action.

Main Focus: We can thank God by giving back.

Bible Verse: “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His name; make known among the nations what He has done.” I Chronicles 16:8

Challenge: Look for additional ways we can show our thankfulness to the Lord by giving generously to others

We also celebrated the generosity of our Trinity families through the bringing in of so many Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes.

Pastor Kami continued our Chapel series about Thankfulness. She also reminded everyone that our Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes are due NEXT WEDNESDAY, November 17 in Chapel. As we begin to finish our parent/teacher conferences, I have been reflecting on how wonderful it is to have our families back on campus this year. I am so thankful for the Lord’s faithfulness as we navigated the pandemic together and have now been able to operate in a way that more resembles normalcy. Bringing our families on campus for conferences, birthday parties, holiday performances, lunch opportunities, volunteerism, and field trips has been such a blessing. Classroom Highlight - A Peek Into Our Classroom Fun

Third graders began their new Science unit by learning about the layers of soil, from bedrock to the organic layer. They ended the lesson by making their own edible layers of soil. What a fun and delicious way to learn!

Last Week in Chapel

Pastor Kami began a new 4 week series about Thankfulness. This week’s emphasis was on Thanking God for Making Us and how we can be thankful that He has a special plan for each one of us. Our Bible story was about God calling Jeremiah to be a prophet for the Lord even at a young age.

Bible Verse: “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His name; make known among the nations what He has done.” I Chronicles 16:8
